“Savage 93r17 Feeding Issues”

Written on: 24/06/2013

Bought both the 93r17 and 22 WMR and have had nothing but feeding issues ever since. The first 5 round magazines worked well in the 22 WMR for around 50 rounds. After that the rounds began to release when the bolt was opened causing a jam. Soon aferward the rounds would fly out of the magazine as I inserted the clip with the bolt open. Although the other 5 round mag held the rounds ... it did begin to interfere with the bolt after awhile. I found that if I reduced the number of rounds in the… Read Full Review

“savage 93r17 heavy barrel”

Written on: 13/04/2013 by donhitchc (1 review written)

I bought the 93R17 heavy barrel and have had bad luck with it. First day out to shoot it, I inserted the clip and loaded the first round and fired the round. When I pulled the bolt back to load the next round, all the remaining rounds ejected from the clip out onto the ground. I tried reloading the rounds into the clip but the retaining lips were opened up from the loading edge of the bolt and the rounds wouldent stay in the clip.I tried the other clip and had the same results. I took the… Read Full Review

“Do not buy this gun!!!!”

Written on: 11/02/2013 by Horn28 (1 review written)

I just bought the savage 93 .17 for my son for his birthday and it misfired 10 times with the first box of bullets. The clip does not align with the bolt action causing it to jam. I thought it might be the ammo but it wasen't. I am going to send it in to savage to see if they can fix the problem. I will never buy another savage… Read Full Review

“Savage 93R17BV”

Written on: 12/07/2012

Not recommended! This rifle has serious feeding problems. The mag does not align properly and about 25% of the time when you close the bolt a cartridge does not feed. Also it misfires frequently. There will be a mark on the cartridge rim where it is struck but it does not fire. This is not an ammo problem because if you take the cartidge out and reposition it, it will eventually fire. It's hard to believe that a gun like this with obvious design flaws would be released for sale. This is my… Read Full Review

“sweet 17 scope on 17hmr”

Written on: 14/03/2012

for of you that are using barska scopes open your wallet and go for a better scope I use the BSA sweet 17BDC and as far as the rifle goes works great with all ammo functions perfect shot after shot mine likes a warm barrel free floating the stock and an 8oz trigger polishing the bore.Im a right handed shooter but all my small game and vermon rifles are left handed you will find it much more comfortable working the bolt from your belly, sitting or knealing with sticks and from the bench the you… Read Full Review

This gun is a piece of junk. I can shoot one inch groups at a hundred yards with it, but what good is that if it misfires 75% of the time. I tried both CCI and Hornady ammo and same result either way. Worst firearm I have ever owned… Read Full Review

The Savage 93R17-FV's accuracy is a 10. Would never buy another Savage firearm due the misfire prob. Sent the rifle back to Savage . However the rifle was returned with the same prob. Basically the gun is worthless in this condition. Misfires too much 5 out of 10 rounds… Read Full Review

Written on: 04/08/2008 by rustysdream (1 review written)

Absolute tack driver. This rifle and my Savage Mark II FV .22 are by far the most accurate rimfire rifles I've ever owned. I shot 1/4" groups at 50 yards on the first day with it (scope: BSA 4-12x40 Mil Dot, ammo: CCI 17gr blue box).
The Accu Trigger breaks really nice and smooth and the factory trigger pull feels right on.
Highly recommended… Read Full Review

Written on: 03/06/2008 by Drunkensailor (1 review written)

Buy this gun strictly if you want a rifle that is quiet but yet deadly accurate up to 300+ yards. Don't buy this rifle if you want one shot kills on groundhogs. When I got my Savage 17 HMR I was so surprised by how accurate it was. The first day I went groundhog hunting I used three shots and killed three groundhogs. They were all within 75 yards. But just recently I used my rifle at the range of 100 to 200 yards. I shot five rounds and hit five groundhogs. I even got a head shot… Read Full Review

Wether you are an avid varmint hunter or just want a good quality target gun, the 93R17 FV/FVSS is the perfect one. For the money i still cant believe the way mine shoots. It shot great out of the box w/ the stock 3x-9x 40mm scope, now i have a harris ultralight bipod with a Cabelas .17hmr 40mm 6x-18x tactical scope and i could hit a golf ball from 220 yds, amazing buy, i suggest you get it 10 out of 10… Read Full Review

Well worth the money. Buy 1 for you and 1 for your best friend. Most accurate rifle I've ever shot. I have less than $225 in the gun, scope, strap, and a few boxes of ammo. Great fun and sport. I have killed 2 deer with head shots at 50-75 yards. They never had a chance. Very finicky with ammunition. Find one and stick with it. If you change from a Federal to a Hornady, you will have to re-sight… Read Full Review

Savage Model 9317R-F.17 rimfire bolt action Varmit rifle. Great accuracy right out of the box Accu tigger is the best assembly i have on any of my rifles. Mated with a Nikon Pro-staff 4 x 32 scope its a deadly accurate rifle. Got extremely good groupings out to 100yds within 2 inches of center. Extremely lite-weight and good functional design plus low price makes the Savage 93R17-F a keeper. Somewhat sticky bolt and safety mechanism. I expect both to improve with age!… Read Full Review

Get the target model with accu trigger and you will love it . i love mine. as for the magazine make sure you push it all the way in. give a little tap after you put it in. after you break it in some. it will fit better. some of you having feeding problems is because its not all the way in. dont use cheap scopes. your gun wont shoot any better then your scope can… Read Full Review
