Claudes Creperie was once a decent restaurant, now under new management - in my opinion,it's utter pap... if you like mussels don't order them here, half not opened / uncooked, the other half frazzled and about a tenth of the size you would expect in the shell.

Main meal was nice except they have changed the way they make the crepes (they were better before).

One highlight was eating bread without plates and knifes using the menu to catch the crumbs while buttering the bread / you could always use the mid air approach one couple was using next to us.

Customer service was friendly but mediocre at best.

Claude's Crepes has a great location on Holywell Hill near to the Abbey and I presume it should really be packed on a sunday lunchtime but we were the only people in there. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond the restaurant's control many of the drinks were not available when we were there. As other reviewers have said the salads are not great (reminiscent of school meals in the seventies -grated carrot and a dollop of mayo). The gallette when it arrived didn't taste so good, neither did m ...

We definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. We went to Claude's Creperie today for lunch and it was the worst meal we have ever had. The side salad was dry and looked unappetising. When our crepes finally arrived after 40 minutes, they were not to my liking. It seemed very expensive for a crepe, especially when it was that awful. Nearly £30 for two of us for one course and two orange juices!

We've never eaten worse crepes. Claudes Creperie in St Albans should be ashamed to call itself French, as there is nothing French about these crepes. The pancake itself was greasy and tasteless. It tasted absolutely nothing like the galette it was masquerading as. The staff were unfriendly, and looked like they really hated their jobs, and with the bill, they generously gave us TWO mints. Even Pizza Hut gives you more than that! This was more like a very bad, greasy pizza than a crepe...

Claudes Creperie has a good selection of wine. I was slightly mystified by the odd variety of things they crammed into crepes.... Chinese or Mexican crepe, anyone?

Our starters arrived fresh from the 1970s. Iceberg lettuce and grated carrot garnish... and my pet hate, catering pack butter portions fresh from the fridge. The food was pretty decent quality though.

It's a fabulous old building and the restaurant certainly looks the part... but the food could use a little modernising and I su ...

Claudes Creperie is absolutely the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food always tastes good with fresh ingredients. Everything is reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very chilled and the serving staff are always helpful. We wondered with a new baby if we would still be able to enjoy Claudes and there was no objection when we arrived one lunchtime. Highly recommended but make sure to book as they get very busy especially if you want a courtyard table in Summer.
