    Good Points: None

    Bad Points: Everything

General comments: The car I bought from DC Cook had so many faults I had to take it back 3 times and they were very reluctant about putting things right. They couldn't even supply the 12 months MOT they said the car had and they had to have it re tested. Their customer service was poor, and everything about them was shoddy. For an outfit of their size they were no better than a dodgy backstreet Arthur Daley bunch.

£8200 paid and no car. From what I have heard many are in the same position, paid for our cars on the basis they were due for collection and then came one excuse after another because there never was any car. I cancelled my order back in November as I saw this coming but sadly for me it was too late, they never paid up. I feel such a fool for paying out all that money, what was I thinking of!

I too paid in full for my vehicle which "had arrived" in stock and now have realized that I have probably lost all £12,500 - It has been an expensive lesson that you don't part with your money until you get the keys! Therefore I do not recommend DC Cook Car Dealer.

Just spoke to Tenon Recovery, they say to wait for the letters to come through and fill in forms that need to be sent back asap.
Also spoke to Consumer Helpline and they said as they have gone into liquidation, there is nothing that can be done except persuing the liquadator to get your money back. It seems I've lost my £7000 as I paid by banker's draft!

This company received an order from me in August 2008 and full payment by end of August. The car was due to take three weeks but there were endless delays. Eventually instead of a Honda CRV a Honda FRV was delivered. I cancelled the order on 6 Dec 2008 and requested a full refund of all monies paid. I now notice from the websote that the company has gone into liquidation and I am going to have to deal with Tenon recovery to get my money back! I am supposed to here from them by 23 December.

    1. Long, long, long delays - 8 months and still not the car I ordered. (another story).
    2. Poor communication - didn ' t always call back when I left messages.
    3. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Poor reasons for non-delivery that challenge belief.
    4. I paid but delivery took longer than expected. Paid 5 months in advance but no delivery because of misunderstanding with the dealer.
    5. Had to chase invoice.
    7. Only vapour in the fuel tank on (eventual) delivery.
    8. Poor trade in value on part ex ...

From start to finish this has been a nightmare. Dont touch them with a barge pole unless you enjoy high levels of stress.
There was excuse after excuse for the late (11 weeks) wait for the car but the best bit comes when they say that they have sent the log book (after 9 months wait) by unrecorded post that was "lost".
This means I can not tax the car and have to pay £25 for the new V62 document and keep the car off road until it is sorted.

I ordered a car in October and was promised it was in stock, and could be picked up within 7 days. I paid in full within 2 days of ordering it. Then the excuses started, wrong spec car had been delivered etc. They almost never call you. I was in a desperate position for a car which they must be fully aware of, but finally had no option but to cancel the order. They would not return my money before 30 days, leaving me unable to purchase another. Given the current finanical climate it was extremel ...

If you want to lend them £000's of pounds for 11 weeks to earn interest on then this is the company for you. Ordered in June for a September delivery. They took full payment on 4th Sept and then proceeded to make excuse after excuse why the car was not available. They promise to ring back within 24 hours and never do. I found it difficult to speak to anyone apart from the sales person. Cancelled the order (for the second time) on 20th Oct. Could not get the money back within 30 days even ...

I was in the market for a Vauxhall Vectra, so had a look at what I could get online. Found DC Cook and gave them a ring on Friday - they did me a great price (a lot lower price than my local dealer) and I cam and collected it on Saturday. Just all seemed really easy.

I ordered my car backing October, assured I'd get the car in 2 -3 weeks, I paid my deposit and the balance a week later, assured the car would be 7-10 working days, it is now working day 23 and I have cancelled my order as they say the paper work has been sent to their old address.

I ordered a year old Ford Focus that was supposed to be in their stocks, available in 8-10 days, back in October 2008. I paid my deposit, filled in the paperwork and very reluctantly, paid the full amount for the car. After numerous phone calls asking for a receipt to show that I've paid, got nothing, not even the calls giving progress of the order as they had promised. After 10 days, I had to call them, got told they are waiting for car registration and will call me back. No call back, I had to ...

I order a car end August and paid my deposit and was told I'd have my car in 2-3 weeks. 2 weekes passed, they had all my documents and had returned them but I hadn't heard anything else. Then my trouble started.
I phoned them, they said there had been a delay it would be another 2 weeks from that day as they'd only just rec'd the finance from Barclays. Numerous delivery dates came and went - they never EVER phoned me, I always had to phone them, wait for 20 mins in a queue only to get the latest ...

Saw their ad in What Car so called and discussed a Mondeo that was 'in stock'. The salesman explained that this meant the car was ready for immediate release and would be with me in 7-10 days. I wanted to pay by PCP and put a £1500 deposit down on 1 Oct. But when the paperwork did not arrive I started to chase them. I found trying to contact DC Cook via phone very difficult as they only seem to have 1 telephone line! Sat waiting each time for 10 minutes then gave up. Eventually resorted t ...

Wanted a new car so went online, found DC Cook on Google. Not heard of them before but they had the cars I was thinking of and their prices were good so I gave them a ring. The guy was I spoke to was good, was a bit miffed to find I had to pay for delivery or travel all the way up to Sheffield to get the car, but the saving was still worth it so I went for it. They told me it would take 8 weeks for delivery, but after about 7 weeks they rang me and told me the car was going to be delivered by ab ...

It came to that time when me and my husband ahd to change our car and to be honest we were dreading the usual weekend of being pounced on and being forced into cars we don't want. We're retired now and just didn't need the hassle. So we went online to see what we could find and found DC Cook. We live in Devon now but my husband worked (and so we lived) in Yorkshire in the 80's and we remembered their look for the dc cook sign jingle. As we therefore knew they'd been around a while, they had the ...

Obtained vehicle from DC Cook direct.
If you want a good deal and are prepared to wait for the car of your choice try DC Cook direct.
Staff do try hard to be helpful but don't always keep customers in the picture.
The onus seems to be on the customer to ask what is happening rather than the "team" at DC Cook keeping the customer in the picture.
They felt part of the problem lay with Fords themselves for not releasing the cars they had ordered.

I ordered a car from DC Cook at the beginning of Dec 07 - a New Ford Mondeo. Paid £2k deposit told would be delivered 03 Mar 08. Had a few phones call confirming delivery date, then 2 days prior to delivery was told there was a 6-8 week delay. After this point communication became poor, phone calls where sometimes not returned. The car did not arrive in April. I was told in May the car had arrived and asked to pay the full balance. Collection was arranged for the 12th May. A couple of day ...

I have just taken delivery of a fab new Ford Mondeo diesel and I love it. I found dc cook through Google although I had heard of them before as I think they had a big showroom in derby. I have scored DC Cook 8 but it ' s probably a bit harsh, I have docked them a point for the car being late and also for sometimes having to wait in a phone queue for a few minutes overall I am delighted with my car and the guys at DC Cook. They blitzed the local dealer prices and I had thought at one point it was ...
