I have enjoyed every meal I have had at Alvaros. The food is lovely and the staff unendingly helpful, whether you are a large party or a couple.
I would recommend to anyone who wants good food, nice atmosphere, and large portions!

Dr.Who doesn't have the monopoly on time travel. For us Alvaro's was a wonderful trip back in time when friendly waiters knew their job, the proprietor is always around, stunning desserts parade on a trolley to tempt the most determined dieter, and dishes are flamed at the table. Thirty years of feeding the locals doesn't require gimmicks or tantrums.

It was a wonderful evening, outstanding fish dishes cooked as well as you would expect from a Portuguese wizard and the only Ronaldo-stytle divin ...

food was ok, but the service that we received at Alvaro's was not to the standard, impolite staff, especially 2 of them were very rude and not welcoming at all.

A truly memorable occasion to eat at this portuguese restaurant. Good value for money but not cheap by any means. Great for lunch on a Friday! If you want to be treated well and feel valued this is the place for you. You can experiment or stick to trusted combinations. Highly recommended!

we first went to Alvaro's last month for my husbands 50th birthday, there were 14 of us and nobody had any complaints, every one of us enjoyed the food and my husband and myself even managed to get a cancellation for the following evening and enjoyed it just as much. We go to portugal 3 to 4 times a year and Alvaro's is up there with the best! we cant wait to go back again but wish it was a bit closer to home.

I've been going to Alvaro's, Westcliff-on-Sea for more than 15 years. For business purposes in the beginning and since I changed to a new job that doesn't allow me to work anywhere near, I come here from time to time for private dinner. Ever since I have always been fully satisfied, the service is excellent, the food quality is outstanding and the ambiance is cosy. This restaurant is certainly not a cheap place, but it's worth every single penny. Have you ever had a half boneless duckling? Watch ...

Excellent Service at Alvaro's, Friendly, funny staff, remember their regulars - even recognise me when I only go once or twice a year! Asked after the family when I went with a friend!
Between £30-50 a head depending on what you order, but it is the best value, most enjoyable meal I have ever had. I would much rather spend £50 at Alvaro's than £20 at a chain restaurant any day!

Six of us dined at Alvaro's restaurant in Westcliffe-on-Sea. Only one had a starter: piping hot tomato soup. We chose a selection of main courses, all of which were delicious, and like the soup, piping hot. All were served with a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. It was a great joy to be reacquainted with carrots that had flavour. My tournados consisted of a massive piece of fillet of beef that was so tender as to render my steak knife somewhat pointless. I chose a Syrah to accompany ...
