    Having eaten at the Popular in Leigh on Sea i can say that the food is awfull. With a menu that sounds good on first reading and then coming to the table, there is a massive transformation. The ingredients are cheep and this obviously affects the quality of the food. With frozen chips and out of date meat i can safely say that i will not be going back... ever. It is a disgrace to the gastro community.

    The Popular Restaurant in Leigh-on-Sea is nice and calming. I have been there 6 times now, and it has been good all the time. Staff are very nice and polite.

    The veal escalops at the Popular restaurant in Leigh-on-Sea were always a hot.

    have to disagree with the last review, this is a great restaurant that has been refurbished in 2006/7 and serves great food in a releaxing atmosphere. i have been 5 times in the last year and have had a great meal each time

    The last time went to Popular Restaurant I ordered fish and chips. It was disgusting! It was also a very warm day, and the waiter serving the food had sweat running down his face and occasionly into the food he was carrying. Revolting!! I will never go again.
