Got my car and a 3 years service/MOT package. In year 2 a suspension arm was replaced, in year 3 I was told the same part had snapped, they claimed it was 5 days beyond the warranty period. This is a part I've never had to replace before in all my time driving let alone twice in a year and 5 days. I raised a complaint about this and was initially fobbed off, only after leaving reviews was I contacted, but nothing was done or offered other than an apology and repeated excuses. I wouldn't go near them again, even if you have a service/MOT package with them you may find yourself better off having them done somewhere else. I wish I had.

i was promised 2 years mot and service on my passat car. I have even have paperwork to prove it. I tried to book my mot service and they said no . I have contacted customer services with little response and a short email saying no. They are good at the sales patter but not good at aftercare and don't deliver their promises.

Well, I bought my ds3 April 2023 and its only January 2024. Since the day I had bought it. All it did was go into limp mode and light flashes saying " engine faulty! I got it home bare in mine I bought the car in Doncaster branch and I live in Hertfordshire. Since April I had a new exhaust in july which i had to fight for as it was sold wirh a hole ( have pic to prove), the engine and oil time belt went I'm September. Since then I complained to my fiance company and they are fighting my battle for arnold clark to pay for repairs. Warranty covers 4066 and my fiance has asked them to pay the rest as the car been faulty since bought only in the last 6 months if that. I had customer service and the Doncaster branch back and forth abd won't speak to me. I financially out of pocket as the garage that my car stored at want to charge for storage 600 pounds. It's not their fault because we all waiting Since Oct 2023 for a final say from arnold clark techinal team if pay the repairs. So yes it has not been a easy peasy bought. I had to take transport and ask friends to help me get to work and hospitals appointments. So yes I am mighty angry. Who wouldn't be? When you been bummed off and lack of communication. So thanks ArnoldClark for your lack of help and good customer service!!

Purchased a nearly new car from AC a year ago, car lost power on fast lane of motorway on 27/11/23. Rang them only to be told, warranty runs out in 2 days and we can’t fit you in until mid January. Receptionist was curt and kept talking over the top of me, then my calls were ignored. What compounded the issue was not being supplied with owners manual, service history or warranty details. Paying for a car that has been off the road for over two weeks. No courtesy car or any other assistance. I vowed never to deal with AC again after a similar experience back in 1998, but was desperate after my last car was stolen.

We bought a car from Arnold Clark this January and after a month a couple of issues started happening. We gave the car for repairs and total costed us 1300 pounds and this was required to pass MOT as well. Previous time we went to Arnold clark, they didn't help us at all with the repairs.

I wanted to write a very truthful and honest review of Arnold Clark in order that people considering buying a car from there can consider whether they really want to do so after hearing about my experience. I purchased a VW Tiguan from the Huddersfield branch in March 2023. On arrival at the site, I had a bad fall on ice that had not been cleared on the forecourt. I am still suffering now with a shoulder injury, yet this is continually being ignored by the company. On test driving the car, an indicator fault showed up. I was told by the sales representative that this was only because the car was very cold due to the bad weather. Naively, I thought no more of it and left with the car. I was a bit disappointed as I had bought the car from seeing videos sent to me and it was actually more scratched than I had realised. That said, at this point I still thought I was getting a good deal. Over the next few weeks, several other faults, including both indicators and engine warning lights, started to show up on the car. I reported this to the branch as it was within the 3 month warranty period. Eventually they agreed I could take the car to a VW dealership for a diagnostic. Before this could happen, an even worse fault occurred. The collision avoidance system, which slams on the breaks if it thinks you are at risk of crashing, started to kick in of its own accord. This happened once on a luckily empty motorway at 70mph and again when slowing down rounding a corner, at which point a car very nearly went into the back of me. The car then went straight to VW who ascertained that all of these faults were to do with a faulty part which needed replacing. Unfortunately, said part was made in Ukraine and so VW said it would be months until I could get a repair. Because having no car meant I could not work, I asked Arnold Clark to provide a hire car. They repeatedly refused and said it was something they could not do. I received an email from a service manager with whom I had been in contact, saying that he had spoken to VW and they had said the car was safe to drive until my part arrived and that I could go and collect it. I was obviously dubious due to my recent experiences whilst driving the car, and so called VW to confirm that this was in fact correct. Only to be informed that no, they had never told Arnold Clark this and that the car was absolutely not safe to drive. This lie could have caused myself or other road users serious injury. I was offered my money back on the faulty car or a replacement like for like vehicle. Unfortunately, they had no like for like vehicles in stock. I suggested they might replace the car with a slightly newer vehicle, as it was the most similar they had in stock. They agreed though said I had to pay the difference and also 25p per mile for the dangerous car I had been driving. I point blank refused and eventually, after a long time spent on the phone, they agreed to just give me this replacement vehicle for the same price as my faulty one. I was at that point satisfied. However, this order was placed at the start of June and I still have not received the vehicle. A delivery date came and went several times. I was told that a car transport company has picked up the wrong vehicle which caused a delay. This again turned out to be a lie further down the line, as actually the replacement vehicle was still waiting on a part. To this point I had lost out on income due to not being mobile and was still paying off a car loan, breakdown cover, insurance and tax whilst having no vehicle to show for it. Arnold Clark then eventually agreed to get me a hire car. They paid for a week’s hire so I could work, just until the replacement car arrived. Low and behold. The delivery date came and went again. I called customer services who said they would deal with the hire company and sort out me keeping the hire vehicle, as well as the payment for it. I then saw that the payment from the hire car was actually coming out of my bank account, as Arnold Clark had not bothered to contact the hire company as they said they would. I have been met with many rude customer service advisors, saying they have no obligation to keep me mobile, despite the fact that they sold me a dangerous car and then lied to try to keep me driving it. The latest resolution is that I can have my money back on the original faulty vehicle, plus £100 as a ‘goodwill gesture’. I am still fighting them for the injustice of my treatment at their hands and have spoken to Citizens Advice and contacted an Ombudsman. Coupled with constant unfulfilled callbacks and a general ‘couldn’t care less attitude’, I must say, I wish I had never got involved in the first place. Please do think twice before buying from this company as it seems that profit comes above all else and customer care and wellbeing is nothing to them.

I don't want to bother you with specific information about my experience. All I want to say is if you bought a car from Arnold Clark and you need help under the warranty, expect for zero help from them. They will avoid your phone calls and ignore your emails. After many times to get in contact with them, I ended up repairing the car at my own cost. The only reason I chose Arnold Clark was the long time trade and I thought it's a reputable company. But I couldn't be more wrong. If you want to avoid disappointment please make yourself a favor and don't give them your hard earned money. I also advise my family members, friends, acquaintances, co-workers, neighbors to avoid them at all costs. Maybe there are some honest people within Arnold Clark company, but the company management is way below expectations. Especially in Volvo Inverness branch. My honest advice for you is make yourself a favor and stay away from them.
