OMG I so wish I saw this website before even visiting Arnold Clark. Winning the 'retailer of the year 2009' and having branches nationwide, I thought I was onto a good thing. My words of warning NEVER BUY FROM ARNOLD CLARK. After sales service is apauling,I bought my car 8wks ago and still sorting out paperwork.A high turnover of staff means no continuity and nobody knows what is the most up to date story-lies and empty promises. Arnold Clark's new strapline should be (as thats all they say to me is) "All I can do is apologise", its certainly not "Promises delivered" as indicated on their paperwork.Trading standards are on their case,so please, for your own sanity, avoid Arnold Clark, as otherwise you, like me, will only just live to regret it.

I heard from a friend that the salesmen can do 3 freinds & family rates of finiance per year - after a long chat & going into see the manager at Leyland they agreed to give me a deal at 5.5% the salesman ran off some figures & I bought the car. 12 months or so later I got a statemnet from the credit company & they put it through at 11%. They say everything's in order as I signed the paperwork - please read what you sign very carefully with this bunch of rougues. The service dept is bad too, they ...

Bought a 008 Corsa in January(Peugot- Ayr) with no spare key. It was May before I got it despite numerous calls. The key had been in the parts dept for two months with no-one informing sales it was there.
In July my partner bought A Honda Jazz from Fiat(Ayr). On driving it away we noticed the indicators didn't work. We took it back to get fixed but they couldn't quickly so gave us an over the top Toyota peolple carrier . My partner had to pay £35 extra on her insurance to run it for a few ...

All you lucky people have a car to complain about. Arnold Clark have had our money for 9 days now and still claim the funds are not yet in their account. I think they should consider changing their bank or their accounts staff. My brother-in-law, who works in a bank, says a cheque takes a maximum of 4 days to clear. Arnold Clark have it all, my money and the car!!!

I purchased a Ford galaxy from the Seafield branch of Arnold Clark in Edinburgh in march this year. The deal was done by phone, which i have done before without any problems. I collected the car and within weeks found it riddled with problems, missing trim, water getting into the rear lights and passenger door piller, loads of rattles, bits falling off, the list is extensive. after 6 months of grief the garage agreed to repair the faults with no cost to me. Two days in the garage and little has ...

NEVER.....EVER buy a car from Arnold Clark!

I have never had such bad customer service from a company. When you are buying the car eveything is fine..until something goes wrong with it, then they could not care less!

We have had problem after problem with our car, and they never call you to tell you what work they have or haven't done on it. We are constantly chasing them and the management are disgraceful. How on earth is this company still operating?

They have now had our car for 4 weeks, n ...

Purchased a Nissan Micra 03 Plate from ARNOLD CLARK back in 2003.

After a night of rain (as it does in Scotland), i could hear a strange sloshing sound coming from the rear.
To my surprise their was a huge puddle of water in my boot, so i went back to ARNOLD CLARK, and one of repair tech's told me my car had been in a rear end smash and had had a new rear boot and bumper put on it, as he was the one who had previously repaired it.
They fixed the leak, but i couldnt get a refund on the ...

Is it just me or do i pay for all those members of staff with nothing to do, it seems that you pay over the odds for parts and then over the odds again for Labour.
You take your car in at 9am and they phone you back at 3pm telling you what is wrong with it and drop the bombshell that it will be this much money a whole day wasted to find a fault which is detected in 20 minutes,
ignition coil pack to repair and replace =£260 a utter rip off 200 years ago Arnold Clark would have been hung f ...

My friend bought a second hand car from Arnold Clark, Glasgow. When viewing the car (prior) to purchase, salesman couldn't have been any nicer, the usual salesman talk. She done the deal, and while she knew she was paying way over the odds she thought they were a decent reputable company should anything go wrong. Understatement of the century. They were awkward when she went back week after week with genuine faults. Worst thing was, they sold her the car with one key clearly promising her a ...

Avoid Arnold Clark like the plague. They have just tried to charge me £80 to replace a rear washer pump that is working perfectly. I suspect that the person who checked my car had no idea how the rear washer switch on my Clio operated. Failed MOT for broken rear coil spring that was alledgedly replaced a few months ago. Cost to replace it now £140.

I bought a new Renault clio from Arnold Clark and i found they were a dream un till i had to contact them. They never phoned me back and then when they finally did i found my warranty had run out and i had to pay for the fault which was quite expensive. I am extremely angry with this as i found that Arnold Clark was fine un till i needed the service department. Very poor

Driver picked us up from the airport, transferred our bags to the rental car at Arnold Clark. Showed us all the various workings _ lights indicators etc. etc. Explained how to get on to M8, and where to get off when we returned the car. He also drove us back to the airport on our return journey. He was at all times friendly courteous and polite. Thank you

Good service from arnold clark, I just bought a 1 year old car and consider that I got quite a good deal. I would have given then 5 stars if they still had the free inter depot transfer of cars whereby they would get any car from any branch to your local Arnold Clark outlet without making a charge, the previous car that I bought from them was obtained by this method and brought from the Ayr branch to the Aberdeen Tullos branch for me at no cost.

After reading these reviews I believe I have been very lucky in dealing with Arnold Clark. I have purchased two used vechicles over 4years from AC Renault at Warrington. The first was a Renault Laguna which I still own, they gave me brilliant service and an excellent deal. I live some 220 miles from Warrington but visit relatives a couple of times a year. AC agreed to deliver the car down to me on a fixed date which they missed. I was then invited to travel up to Warrington by train/taxi to pi ...

Call me daft but I keep going back to Arnold Clark for some reason. NEVER AGAIN.
Everytime I have had any of the cars I bought from them put in for service/MOT there has always been a fault that has occurred not long afterwards.
My most recent jaunt to Bishopbriggs, Glasgow branch was to get my used cars 1st MOT/service (service free! under deal)I knew the brakes were squealing everytime I reversed so mentioned this and low behold bill for replacing rear brake discs/pads totalled £400>. ...
