I have had this card for over 3 years, it is great for building up my nectar points, disappointing the rate can be high but so long as the full balance is repaid each month, I cant grumble at this card. Repayments are made in full via DD thus no chance of incurring any fees. Have called them once 6 months ago when I missed a DD payment due to an account switch but they refunded the charge… Read Full Review

I applied for a credit card for an imminent boiler replacement purchase, and as Sainsbury's were offering 28 months 0% deals I thought that would be great. I needed to make payment at the end of October and I applied on the 11/10/2016 and thought that was plenty of time to receive the card. “Rubbish customer service,very low limit,unhelpful all...”

Called 5 times tonight, couldn't get through, told they are Halifax staff and wrong number on the back of statements. Gave up trying to resolve, as I had gone £70 over a pathetic £1k limit. All other credit cards I have had allow a much higher limit. Also charging me £12 for going over. I was told previously that they will not review the limit for at least 6 months. “Want people to owe money”

I had always paid off my balance each month which was rarely large. Last summer I did not receive statements but on holiday and out and about so forgot to check. Paid 2 late fees - despite being told they would be waived. This has now happened again - but this time they returned my payment to my bank the same day I made it, then said I had not paid. After receiving a £12 late penalty fee I set up a standing order to stop it happening again. The next statement came through with another £12 late fee. Like a fool I assumed it was just a follow up letter repeating the same information. The next month the same again. I rang Sainsbury's to enquire how can I be racking up late fees when I pay much more than the minimum payment each month by standing order. “Terrible telephone back-up service”

Collecting Nectar points is great and generally for purchases this card is fine unless you approach your limit and try to pay some of the balance off then they are hopeless! If you need to call with a problem you will be met by an automated system which takes ages and leads you round and round in circles. I had a card for many many years but as soon as there was fraudulent use I was left to contact the company involved and find out what happened!! Is this what I'm paying card protection services for!! Have had a Sainsburys credit card for some time now but in all that time I don't think I have ever been able to log on without having to take ages on the premium rate phone line to get access. I had this card for about 10 years, and up until about 2 years ago, it was one of my best credit cards. About 6 years ago, they were brilliant when I had some fraudulent activity on my account; they sorted it promptly and efficiently.

TO GET IT CLEARED. I HAD A DIRECT DEBIT EACH MONTH BUT AT THE END OF DECEMBER
MY BALANCE WAS £450 AND THEY DECIDED WITHOUT ASKING ME TO TAKE THE FULL AMOUNT

Exactly the same has just happened to me, I have never missed a payment on anything ever and have an excellent top credit score. I am never going to use any shops that have anything to do with Nectar or Sainsburys again.

“The worse credit card I have ever owned.......to...”

The worse credit card I have ever owned.......to prevent going over ones limit they suggest writing down the amounts spent in a diary (which century are they coming from)...this is very difficult to do if both partners have a card. Whilst the statements showed we never exceeded the limit and in spite of us paying by direct debit they still charged us £12 for being £100 over the limit on the day before the monthly payment cleared. Received a letter in July to tell us that our credit card statement date was changing in August to two weeks later which we were not happy about. Rang customer service to confirm date and on the first call had no idea what we were talking about. I took out the Sainsbury's Credit card for a 0% balance transfer. I then setup a standing order, via on-line banking, to make the payment each month and then forgot about it. Everything was fine until I came to Xmas and the Bank Holidays. This meant that the payment cleared 1 day later than the due date. limits will change, if your not using the 10k that could be why they changed the limit so they could lend it to someone who will make use of it. companies need to keep funds available for customers to use so with you not using the limit set means that they are not making anything on the funds they have set aside for you.
