Awful customer service ! They are linked tk Halifax and they are awful so it makes sense! Online account very poor and problematic ! Only been with them a week and logged major complaint! Apply at your peril! You have to wait a week for on,one login details ! Name spelt wrong!! Just shocking ! (read more)

I have personally been using Sainsbury cards for 6 months and have never had a problem with their services, therefore quite surprised by the negative reviews here. The customer service is great and every query or issues that I have had have been resolved on time. (read more)

I had this card for about 10 years, and up until about 2 years ago, it was one of my best credit cards. About 6 years ago, they were brilliant when I had some fraudulent activity on my account; they sorted it promptly and efficiently.
However, about 2 years ago, I took advantage of a balance transfer offer as a "thank you for being a good customer" deal and all was going fine until they decided to move my statement date by a week without my knowledge. Consequentially, my standing order...

HAVE HAD MY CARD FOR YEARS AND HAVE NOT USED RECENTLY AS I HAVE BEEN TRYING
TO GET IT CLEARED. I HAD A DIRECT DEBIT EACH MONTH BUT AT THE END OF DECEMBER
MY BALANCE WAS £450 AND THEY DECIDED WITHOUT ASKING ME TO TAKE THE FULL AMOUNT
TO CLEAR MY CARD EVEN THOUGH I HAD BEEN PAYING REGULARLY EACH MONTH. I DONT
THINK THEY REALISE THAT MOST PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD THIS AMOUNT SO SOON AFTER
CHRISTMAS. I AM REALLY ANNOYED AND DISAPPOINTED WITH SAINSBURYS.

Wanted to use their 0% offer to transfer a balance - No adverse credit history or other black marks on my credit file - - application for card turned down - first time this has ever happened and this will now presumably be recorded on my file effecting my ability to get a 0% deal from someone else - apply only if you have an EXCELLENT credit record I'd say - Very good clearly doesn't do for Sainsbury's ... The worse credit card I have ever owned.......to prevent going over ones limit they suggest writing down the amounts spent in a diary (which century are they coming from)...this is very difficult to do if both partners have a card. Whilst the statements showed we never exceeded the limit and in spite of us paying by direct debit they still charged us £12 for being £100 over the limit on the day before the monthly payment cleared. Received a letter in July to tell us that our credit card statement date was changing in August to two weeks later which we were not happy about. Rang customer service to confirm date and on the first call had no idea what we were talking about. Second phone call we were told 12th Sept and then on our next call told original date in August by a very condescending lady. Our fourth call we were told 17th Sept. My by then annoyed husband asked to speak to a manager. We were never rang back.... (read more)

I took out the Sainsbury's Credit card for a 0% balance transfer. I then setup a standing order, via on-line banking, to make the payment each month and then forgot about it. Everything was fine until I came to Xmas and the Bank Holidays. This meant that the payment cleared 1 day later than the due date. I rang their Customer Services, which brought this to light and I expected to have the £12 late payment fee refunded, but they became very 'jobsworth' and said that it was in the T&Cs. ... The Sainsbury's Standard Credit card was good whilst in the introductory offers but since then have a very dim view. Availalbe credit increased to greater than £10k without request and then reduced to £1k when times got hard, even though I have not failed to make a payment during htis period. (read more)

As with much of the customer service providers in the United Kingdom, when there is a problem with a product, the customer service turns sour. Cancel your Sainsburys account and get a real card (e.g., an MBNA account). (read more)

Sainsbury's Standard Credit Card are not really helpful on the phone when there is a problem with the account. Just had enough and will now go elsewhere!

If you like to keep your bill payments up to date then Sainsbury's Standard Credit Card is a good card to have as you can get your balance and recent transactions on line at any time. This was a particularly brilliant service in my case as some fraudulent transactions occurred on the card and I was able to deal with them straightaway and the matter was resolved fairly quickly. limits will change, if your not using the 10k that could be why they changed the limit so they could lend it to someone who will make use of it. companies need to keep funds available for customers to use so with you not using the limit set means that they are not making anything on the funds they have set aside for you.
