Good Points: I used to use my GM card for business travel and racked up quite a few GM bucks back when there were fewer restrictions. I bought a Chevy back in '96 and saved about 4 grand off the sticker price.
Bad Points: These days, they only allow a maximum redemption of 1500 bucks on slow-selling vehicles and the credit expires after a period of 3 years. Pretty much useless unless you really want 1000 bucks off a car that will lose 10000 bucks in resale value the minute you drive it off the lot.
General comments: When I first obtained the GM Platinum Credit Card, the cash back was 5%, unlimited, and non-expiring. The only restriction was that the GM bucks could not be used to buy a Geo or Saturn. They have changed the rules to the point that I can't recommend it.

The GM Platinum Credit Card was through a household bank and was one of the worst credit cards that I have ever had. The GM points towards a new vehicle were really a joke in my opinion.
