Good Points: Accuracy Works all the time - in London Doesn't just get GPS info, takes data from my car and doesn't get me lost.
Bad Points: Needs to be fitted in the vehicle More expensive than portables Speed camera info is poor
General comments: Ok, I have had this VDO Dayton MS 5400 unit for a couple of years now and have been really pleased with it. I've recently tried using portable navigation but there is really no comparison to the proper kit. OK it needs to be fitted in the car which was a pain but as I only use the one car for work this is not too much of a problem, and is more than made up for by the fact that it's very accurate and I trust it. When I sell the vehicle it can be removed and refitted to my new one.
The big advantage for me over portables is this unit works in London, these systems that you plonk on the dash are fine until you lose GPS (which I found to my cost they can easily do in urban areas) then they seem to really struggle to find themselves again.
Very rarely does it let me down, voice instructions are nice and clear and the display is easy to read while driving.
All in all very happy with my buy, I am a professional driver and as such want something that I can rely on, I don't begrudge paying a little more if it works.
