Good Points: Robust, waterproof, solid construction. Colour screen, night-time illumination. Spoken instructions. Suitable for motorcycle use.

Bad Points: It's an old (discontinued) model, is bulky and uses odd, expensive memory-sticks (128Mb max at around £70).

General comments: Discontinued, but the Garmin StreetPilot 3 is still functional, mapsource software & data updates still available. 128mb memory will not cover whole of UK in detail, but is not a particular problem. Suits motorcycle use, and would suit a slightly more 'techie' or nerdy person - the features are mostly there, they just need to be found and configured. Can be picked up cheaply (around £80 for complete set).

I don't think I can tell you anything good about the Garmin StreetPilot, in fact after buying quite a few GPS units for Aviation use I thought that as the StreetPilot units were superior to any other companies products, the Street Pilot III had to be the best there was for Road Navigation! What a mistake that was.
Undoubtedly the worst unit ever made by Garmin.

The Garmin StreetPilot III was very disappointing for such an expensive device.

I have had the Garmin StreetPilot III satellite navigation system for almost 2 years now.

My gripe is that it that garmin rips you off for the map updates. They ship you the map updates for free but in order to use the map you must 'unlock' it for $150. The points of intrest seem to be about 2 years old when they are new so after i have owned the unit for 2 years now the points of interest are now 4 years old.

The unit comes with 128 megs of proprietary memory which is enough for abo ...
