“Motor Home Experience”

Written on: 10/06/2012

Think again if you are going to visit in a motor home, as there are only a few places to fill up your water tank. When we filled up we had to block an access road which of course is not popular. Each time you wish to refill your tank you will have to move your Motor Home to the tap - very inconvenient! Quality of food is poor, if it rains, seating to eat a meal in the facilities is very limited. Visited when the Jubillee concert was on and was treated to multiple 240 volt mains power cuts.... “Another great holiday”

Written on: 27/07/2011 by Denise4.75

I have been coming to Freshwater Caravan Park since I was of the age of 13 which is 23 years ago and I have returned year after year, the park is very family orientated and not commercialised at all, the beach is not safe to swim in because of the bad undercurrent so there is plenty of signs warning that there is no swimming, although there is plenty of opportunities to swim in either the outdoor swimming pool or in the new complex. I have stayed in the static caravan, which was very clean... (read more)

“Average, overpriced, outdated”

Written on: 11/07/2011 by lozzamar

Having just come back from 7 days in a Super Deluxe Caravan I can safely say I would not return to the site again. The caravan itself was lovely, spacious, clean and could not fault it. I do think people need to be made more aware of the dangers of the beach. The sea is hazerdous, the waves crash into the beach and being shingle, it takes your feet aware. The rip current and drop is very dangerous. I would not let my child even paddle in the water without holding my hand. Even dog... (read more)

“Nice clean site in a great area!”

Written on: 05/06/2011

We hired a super deluxe static caravan on the beach for a week and it was a great holiday. Freshwater Beach is a nice clean, friendly site with facilities for tourers and camping as well. My parents took their tourer and were very happy with the pitch size and very clean toilets etc. It's a little more than other sites in the area but the location makes it worth it. I would recommend this site to anyone! Book in advance to get a pitch or caravan in a good place, some static caravans are on... (read more)

We went to Freshwater beach holiday park with our 6 man tent in august 2010,The pitches were a very generous size, facilities were excellent, everywhere (Ground's,washing up/toilet's/and shower's) were immaculate.
Our children were 5 and 12 at the time and both had plenty to do and see there and round about, and as adult's so did we.
we are just looking at the minute to book for this year.
An extremly family friendly campsite with brilliant ammenities. (read more)

NEVER AGAIN. We had a family camping holiday at this park in August last year. Site far too over crowded, loads of sloping pitches, numerous rowdy late disturbed nights (no staff checking the polite rules are being observed so everyone can enjoy their stay!). The "private beach" is private due to it being unusable/dangerous, massive waves with deep drop-off making it a no-swim zone! Trying to end on a good note, the toilet blocks and shop were good. Although, dreaded going back to camp each... (read more)

Just returned from a one night stay at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park in Dorset. Great facilities but overpriced for an out of season overnight at £24.00 and we were less than enthusiastic about the attitude of the staff member we spoke to on the morning of departure who was, frankly, rude out of all proportion to the situation she was dealing with. We had arrived at 6pm the night before in a motorhome and explained that we only wanted one night and would like a quiet pitch if possible. As... (read more)

I have just come back from my second two week stint at Freshwater and I have enjoyed every minute of it! The camp is clean and tidy and the toilet/washing facilities are second to none. The club house is a little dated but the staff are always friendly and helpful but the evening entertainment is straight out of the 1970's so if you like things a little more modern this won't be for you. The toilets are clean, the park is VERY crowded. The beach is unusable, a massive shingle bank keeps the water from the sea flooding the camp and its all shingle with fierce menacing waves. We got soaked having to wash up the dishes outside or alternatively get soaked on the trek to an under cover washing up area. This was quite simply the worst holiday park we have ever visited. The bar was highly overpriced, the staff were poorly trained and the quality of service was generally inadequate. The kids club was awful, the pool was overcrowded, and when me and my wife ordered food from the restaurant we were kept waiting for 1.5 hours!

We stayed at Freshwater for 4 nights over Bank Holiday weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our pitch was at the top of a rather exposed hill and the wind gusted between the hills straight onto our pitch, which made erecting out tent very difficult. The site was well organised but the road way and size of pitches made it difficult for some caravans to get onto their plot and indeed to leave the site. The road ways need to be wider and the plots could do with being larger, in fact there was a huge difference in pitch sizes depending on where you were. The site was rather too large for my liking but the thing that really spoilt it for me was the amount of dog dirt left lying around the site by some dog owners. Whilst most of the dog... (read more)

Other sites operate a strict noise at night policy, this site would be perfect if they did the same. There were strict rules regarding dogs which I have no doubt would be enforced, surely the same should apply to the noise nuisance especially as the site does seem to attract families with young children who would not appreciate listening to drunken youths shouting loudly. Security should patrol the tented areas to remind the rowdy campers to keep the noise down. (read more)

It's not too far from interesting and 'arty' Lyme Regis, but get to see the beautiful and quiet little local villages around, like Punknowle (Punnel), The Bredies and Powerstock.

The most noticable thing, was the cost and value for money. The cost £28, was in my opinion exhorbitant for what you got. I am afraid you cannot say that there were facilities available, because the cost there was also exhorbitant. As stated £28 was expensive even by continental standards. It was 600% more expensive, and the amenities are better kept abroad. The pitches were all of a very good size and the rates were in our opinion reasonable just £23 per night covered up to 6 people. The showers, toilets and dish washing area were free and cleaned to a very high standard daily, although they were a trek down hill and if you have a call of nature in the middle of the night that requires seated facilities then it does make for a dark and scary walk.
