    Good Points: Cheap.


    Bad Points: Don't Pay out! Apalling service, Patronising Staff.


    General comments: I tried to make a legitimate claim when my roof leaked during a storm and damaged £250 of furniture. It was suggested by a member of staff that I was wrong about dates. I then received a letter saying they didn't think it was 'windy enough' to qualify for a storm, so they wouldn't be paying! I wish they had mentioned this on their website. Who are they to decide what classes as a storm? I am left with a £250 furniture bill on top of their £60 insurance premium! What was the point of taking out insurance?

    My dad has been with Direct Line for many years and was very happy with them until he came to make a claim.

    Behind the house is a warehouse with a high brick wall around it. This collapsed, crashing into my dad's extension and several others in the row, bringing down their back garden walls/gates. Direct Line did not send an assessor and would not cover the claim! His neighbours insurance company sent a builder to fix their wall and offered to rebuild my father's wall at no cost to him.
