Have had high value contents cover with Hiscox for several years without a claim. Recently have found their customer service very poor , and have just been told that because I discussed the possibility of having a large amount of work done on a house I was buying they would no longer cover me. Bizarre. Got identical cover cheaper through a broker.

Made a claim when I lost my wedding ring. No hassle at all. Phoned the ring company and got a quote of the ring in today's money. Told Hiscox on the phone and got a chegue in the post within the same week. Very polite and helpful staff on the phone.

As with any insurance provider, I feel the only real test is when you make a claim. In that respect I think Hiscox excelled.
When my wife left an expensive necklace in the back of a taxi (!) I rang up to make a claim and Hiscox sent me a cheque without any request for a valuation document or proof of purchase. And they sent the cheque immediately. I felt I had been treated as an honest customer.
Really refreshing to be treated fairly.

I have never had a complaint dealt with more efficiently (Hiscox) - though they really need to get some better contractors as the ones we dealt with weren't the best. I could not recommend Hiscox enough - although they are not there if you have a crisis after 5pm. All issues were taken really seriously, I actually felt as if the criticism was going to be acted upon - I hope there isn't a next time (my first claim in 15 years, touch wood).

I fell for it again. All the blab about everything is no problem, we are here to help. Well I tried their service today and they have failed miserably. The say they will get someone out in 2 hours. They did no even bother to cal me back in 4 hours. When I did get through they advised me that they could not get anyone until tomorrow, The brochure says 2 hours. They even suggested that I might like to find my own repair person and pay for it myself. I asked what was the point of insurance, they r ...

Cannot commend more highly for efficiency of service. Response times to emailed changes to policy incredibly quick. Policy amended in minutes of request. Fantastic cover. Also get emergency advice cover thrown in as extra.

When looking around to renew my building and contents cover, a friend said that he used Hiscox, as although they weren't the cheapest the cover was good. At the last minute I decided to give them a try and was very surprised to see that the price was one of the cheapest.

The cover was good too - no need to list all those separate valuables (on some policies everything over £500!) and the policy even states that they leave it to your sensible discretion when setting security alarms.

Apparently Hiscox home insurance do not offer contents cover for properties with a flat roof! So much for being a "leader in specialist insurance".

Although quite a lot of insurers seem to have blinkers on when it comes to flat roofs, we have got buildings and contents insurance already with 'normal' premiums - and flat roofs aren't THAT unusual surely!

I have the Hiscox 505 Home Insurance policy. It is a very broad policy for anyone with high to very high demands.

I have not made any claims myself, but a friend of mine that switched to Hiscox on my recommendation made a claim, and they really lived up to what they claim.

I can tell you that he was happy about the move. He would not have been properly covered with the insurance he had before.

No hassle, extremely short response time, fast and professional help.

    This is a policy I ...
