After being broken into it took it took Tesco 11 months to settle the claim after having to go through loss adjusters etc it was only when I threatened them with the insurance ombudsman they finally got their act together.
Now my neighbour upstairs has flooded my bathroom after her bath leaked all it's water, Tesco are stating she wasn't negligence as she had the repair fixed within a reasonable timescale, so they (Tesco) have abbandoned the recovery! Not heard anything like it in my life.
I wouldn't recommend Tesco Insurance to my worst enemy.

A terrible experience, Tesco agreed to cover legal expenses we went ahead with the case and Tesco have still not paid out (2 years later). I actually don't think we will get paid. I have reported them to the insurance ombudsman, AVOID TESCO INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS,what is the point of paying for insurance if you cannot claim?

We made a claim through Tesco's in April of this year, and although the claim has (finally) been agreed we are still (in October!) waiting for the money! The problems we have had are too numerous to mention - it's become a standing joke now with my friends. I had to laugh as was just about to have a baby at the time of the claim and have ruined sofa, carpet and tv and have had to live with it. Suffice it to say DO NOT USE TESCO'S INSURANCE.....

I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking of purchasing home contents insurance with Tesco not to do so. I have never complained about a company or service in my life and I just can't tell you how bad they are. It has been 2 months since our house was robbed and we are still waiting for our goods to be replaced. There is three different companies dealing with the claim and we are just getting pushed from pillar to post. argghhhhhhhhh seriously don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Customer Service attitude very poor. Treat you like a second class citizen. Tesco Home Insurance couldn't even send the letter to correct customer, name wrong!

Tesco Home Insurance are obviously of the view (in my opinion) that they are able to charge pretty much what they like once they have obtained your business. How can one simple phone call result in a reduction of £60 without any policy amendments. I find this practice reprehensible.

Tesco Home Insurance( have a cheak, I had to claim for a damaged laminate floor after my radiator burst. They agreed 340 after they took excess, and then just left me to sort the whole job out. I am annoyed as like I have time to do this as a professional person.
It is a cheak and I would avoid them at all costs.

Why can't this comany just send a builder round and fix the job, then they are responsibile for sorting the tradesman and take ownership of the job instead of passing the buck to the ...

I read reviews on here after realising I had a potential major claim and was worried by low ratings. While I wont pretend the whole process was easy, Tesco (via loss adjusters GAB robins) delivered what the policy said. I find it hard to fault insurers who do what they say they will do under the contract. It may have helped that I did not try to get very last penny from them by inflating claim or pushing for what wasnt covered under contract.

Would neither use again nor recommend to anyone. My ceramic cooker top was accidentally smashed and the whole cooker needed replaced.
Tesco Insurance wanted me to go buy a new cooker and send them the receipt!
3 weeks with no cooker arguing with Tesco. Defeats the whole purpose of home insurance. Needless to say I moved to another insurer.

Tesco must be the worse home insurance company I've dealt with. Tried to make a claim for a burst pipe. Not only did they do nothing about the emergency home insurance that our policy was meant to have but virtually were no help at all. They said I was not covered for a burst pipe and if I read my policy I would know that. When I said there was no exclusion cluse in my policy they then said they had sent me the wrong policy and in any case i should have known I wasnt covered and would just have ...

Made a claim in March 2008 after 90mph winds took the side off are porch and lifted garage door off runners also ripped fascias off garage and lost one fence panel..all very distressing.
To cut a very very long story short they are not paying for anything (even after taking and cashing a cheque for £100 excess which they wanted upfront) as they said damage due to wear and tear!!!! no communication from them all calls made by us on our phone bill. Oh and there customer helpline shuts at 5 ...

Found that with Contents & buildings cover quote, if you make contents cover £40,000 it cost a lot less than if it were £39,000. Didn't know why, just bought there and then.

Took out tesco home insurance last year after good reports from friends. In January this year I had to make a claim for my television which was 51/2 years old but top of the range at the time. Thursday phoned the helpline who took the details, they said they would have to ring back to arrange a telephone interview. After calls from myself they rang back the following Thursday to arrange an interview at 9am on Monday. Monday 9.20 they rang took the same details and said someone would be in touch ...

I put in a claim with Tesco Home Insurance for a damaged Gucci watch, and I sent the authenticity certificate and numerous pictures of me wearing the watch. I hear nothing for 2 weeks, so I called, and they tell me my claim has been passed to jewellers LMG to cost. Call me back, offering me half of what the watch is worth, and when I ask why, they say it's because it has gone down in price. I find that hard to believe when the model was discontinued two years ago. They take two more weeks to ...
