Have never used auto direct before and certainly will never use them again! Their charges are absolute robbery. There is no mention of these when you take out a policy. I cannot believe that they can charge £25 every time they make a simple amendment to your policy - my wife amended her policy with her insurers at the same time and was charged no fee at all. I have never come across an insurance company that charges you £25 for every little change made to a policy. It is shocking! They don't advertise THAT when they give quotes! I was away for a while and on my return I found letters from this company saying the policy had been cancelled. I telephoned them to talk about the issue. I have had car insurance for over 30 years but have never in all those years come across a company as bad as this. I have never had to pay a penny to change minor details on a policy or pay to cancel it but with this company I have had to pay £25 four times to change minor details on the policy, I tried to cancel it but was told I would have to pay £50 cancellation fee,so far it his cost me an extra £125 on top of my premium. lets get a few things correct here. why were you so shcoked at an administration fee? there are many infact nearly all insurance companies whether brokers or underwriters charge an administration fee, say no different than bank charges, estate agent charges or even ebay for that! so why such a suprise, they are providing a service for a third party and need to make money? brokers are the reason insurance is so competetive! if it was just the underwriters around then insurance prices would not be as competetive as they are so the admin fees you pay them are small compared to the saving you make through brokers negotiating better rates. I have been insured with direct line and know for a fact they charge an administration fee. Granted you may have kicked up a fuss there and got it removed. However most insurance companies will remove this especially if you told them you wanted to cancel so i find it hard Auto Direct would not have just waived this. Also i know from experience that Auto Direct charge a £50 cancellation fee so why would you not pay the £25 admin fee but pay the £50 cancellation fee? does not make sense to me is there something you are not telling us about this story? Why is it you were entitled to cancel the policy for free? were you in the first 14 days? if so i am sure you are still liable for a charge for cancellation with most companies. Also you mention letters were sent a few months later? from reading previous reviews on here they claim auto direct first sent letters regarding the outstanding balance a few time then they were receiving letters from a debt company called something or other then ARC. reading your review seems you were treated very diffently from this, i find that hard to believe as i am sure all insurance companies follow set procedures regardless of who you are. Again another review that seems totally one side!

I have never experienced any problems with Auto Direct. They were polite, very helpful. The breakdown cover side of things was also very good, they came out to me very quickly. I was with them for a year, did not stay with them as the renewal quote seem to jump up drastically in price, but I would recommend them....

Well firstly it took me all of 20 seconds on their website to find the telephone numbers, are you sure you went onto the right website?

I changed from my long term insurer influenced by their cheap quote however cut price in their case means poor customer service. Ok where do i start, what seems to be the problem with the endorsement for not going over your stated mileage? the mileage factor is another rating factor that can affect your premium so you should state enough to cover yourself or everyone would put 500 miles and get a cheaper price, surely this can't be there problem?

So aftrer reading your review i just wanted to ask a few questions. If you are not a policy holder with Auto Direct then why didnt you get your insurance company to speak to them and sort out the claim and repairs? isnt that what you are paying them for? and secondly you are talking as if it was auto direct who are dealing with your claim when as to the best of my knowlege they are a broker therefore it would be an underwriter dealing with any claim not the broker.

Waring, do not choose this company. Cheapest, but they will get more money from you with any reasons. After all you will pay more money. I got policy from this company then with some of wrong communications my policy was cancelled and they asked to pay 192 pounds, cancellation fee, one year's legal fee and break down service, even they cancelled after one month I had got the policy. I made the unfortunate mistake of not checking these reviews. 16 days ago i signed up, paid a deposit, only to find out they had made a mistake on their policy and then charged me £30 to correct it. On both occasions they have put the monthly payments up by about £3 each time it doesnt sound alot but £6 a month over 12 months soon adds up and now works out they are not the cheapest quote afterall....
