“Inflexible Approach to Customer Care”

I rang to inform Privilege that my anticipated mileage would temporarily be double the usual due to visiting my terminally ill Mother. I was asked how long this would continue, which I couldn't answer. It could be weeks, perhaps a month or two. I was told there would be an admin charge of £26 each time I made a change and that under no circumstances would this be waived. I ended up paying an additional premium of £65. “Not at all fair! ”

I am a new driver, my first years insurance was £1300 which was the best quote I could find. Everyone at privilege are more than happy to talk to you when they want to take more money off of you but don't take complaints well. On my second year of driving they decided that my insurance should now be £1500 with £500 total excess even with 1 years no claim. This would be if I paid annually, if I wanted to pay monthly the insurance went up nearly another £150. They wouldn't take any money off… Read Full Review

“Do Not Buy Priviledge Car Insurance Service is Terrible”

We had a traumatic accident where we were hit, late at night, by a driver who was on the wrong side of the road, and we suspect, under the influence, who left the scene. Priviledge refused all support until the vehicle was examined. We had no car at all for 5 days. It was a holiday weekend, so I called them first day back and every day after. i see what others mean, still waiting from November to get my excess back from a totally blame free incident. Third party totally admit fault and accept full claim. Cannot get anyone to answer phone calls or letters, don't seem to have enough staff. Even CEO DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AT HOME. Perhaps they should see their parent company's tv ad (Direct Line) where they state they will sort out your claim with no fuss and as quickly as possible. What a joke of a company! Had to make a claim due to my vehicle catching fire whilst driving. Called them at the time of incident to arrange collection of the vehicle from the roadside only to be initially told that I do not have cover with them!! Upon further interrogation by the call handler, it turned out that i did have cover! Surprise surprise. Should have realised then that this was going to be a long, drawn out process. I've had a very similar experience to you with this company and a fire damaged car. They lost my car, didn't assess it for weeks, lied and said they'd applied for police reports. One lie after another. My full review is on here dated sept 2013. I didn't go to the Ombudsman but I did take the complaint higher within the company and that was dealt with very professionally. Good Luck.

Went to cancel our car insurance policy with two months left on the policy and were told there would be just under £50 cancellation fee to cancel the policy. Do not be fooled into thinking because these guys are cheaper than other insurers that you are really saving money. They will of course tell you that its 'included in the policy document' which it is but being remotely rational about the cost to cancel the policy - £50 to cancel a £400 policy is clearly ridiculous. “Worst insuren in the whole uk”

I've been robbed £125.25 by this insurance company ''Privilege'' just for cancelling the policy with them, Worst service I've ever received by a company.To all out there tryimg to insure homes or vehicles, do not insure with thi group of money grabbers. “This is the worst service in the world”

My experience Privilege Insurance A week ago I rang your office at Privilege and asked them to quote the renewal cost of my motor insurance. They quoted me £160.00. I pointed out that the cost of a comparative website from their company for my vehicle was £144.00. They replied that it was on two separate system, without ever explaining what that meant. today my renewal letter came in the post, i was disgusted its £539 more than last year, iv never made a claim and never rang privilege to make any claims. yet my cars a year older and i have another years NCB rang up and they say the rise is due to the market increase on prices. i laughed, i asked for my NCB to be sent out and the guy says my renewal letter is enough proof? that wasn't my point i asked for my NCB to be sent out. i have't had had no problems up until now.

We found privilege via a comparison website, and, as you do, we went for it since it offered the cheapest cover and offered some extras. We filled everything in correctly, my partner as the keeper of the car(he uses it 80% of the time) and myself as an owner(my name is on the log book). Blimey! Thank you for the review Adelina2, I was considering purchasing from Privilege (as like yourself it was the cheapest quote on a comparison website). I will avoid using them. Cheaper isn't always better - Mr M.Lewis should take heed instead of spouting about how much money you can save by going with the cheapest quote from comparison websites.

Absolutely. Worst thing is, the ombudsman won't touch them because their terms and conditions are worded in such a way that Wonga would be put to shame. I really have learnt my lesson and glad others like you are benefiting from it!

“To be with privilege is not a privilege”

I have been with this insurance for nearly year and sadly someone drove into me as he fell asleep at the wheel of his car. My lovely car which I had only had for 18 months was a mess as was I when it happened. Luckily I had 3 witnesses that saw everything and immediately came forward and helped me. Do not go to this company!!!! its prices online are not even the correct prices as when you call to make payment it goes up! you have to wait an hour to speak to the rude staff! when I had a problem with this company they fobbed me off with supervisors and managers that cant do there dead end jobs! I am 18 I had a bit of a crash with a car on a single track country lane which under the circumstances was not either of our faults. Unfortunately I was in an old car which suffered a fair bit of damage to the brackets holding the panels in place which meant my car was a technical write off. They tried to do just about everything they could to make out I stole my own vehicle even though it was recovered via its tracker after 26 minutes. Offered me a Fiat 500 or Auris as a replacement for a Panamera. “Rip off”

We took out insurance for my wifes car because my son is a named driver we were told that they needed to change premium . As payment was coming from sons bank account. We cancelled insurance snd took out with a more reputable provider. The cars belongs to my wife . We should be allowed to decide who drives car not get forced into putting in sons name when car does not belong to him.
