My husband insured with Budget in Dec 08. They took his renewal premium direct from our account on 9th Dec 09. We had not even received the renewal offer in the post. He then sold the car on 28th Jan 2010 and was refunded just £83 of his £219 premium! Seven weeks insurance cost us £136!

I had a similar experience with them with my daughters insurance about a year ago. Because I had paid her first premium on my debit card they used this card again when the renewal was due - they had increased the premium hugely from her first payment. I had to ring my bank to find out why such a large amount had been taken from my account. When we tried to cancel it took me all day on the phone between Budget and my bank.

My advice - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I have been with this company 4 weeks for my 2nd viechle a van. i have 10 years no claims and the policy was £133 for the year which i paid. I had to call for my policy after 7 working days had passed. I need to tax van for work. I was over 2 weeks waiting and lost 2 jobs over thousand £. I then received a letter today staing they were taking £170 from my bank 2 days ago, so not only did they robbed me of £170 week into new year when I have no money now to eat, but after ...

A bunch of robbing b*stards who helped themselves to my money after my 12 month policy had lapsed and then charged me again for cancelling a policy I didn't even know I had.
I rung up to ask what was going on and was put on to the most condescending b!tch i've ever spoke to (must be company policy to employ them.
I've just coughed up nearly £100 for f*ck all.
AVOID THESE ROBBING B*STARDS AT ALL COSTS!!

Never use this company. They're initial price is cheap but that's because they are rubbish. It's all pretty much down hill from the moment you take out a policy with them. They charge you for everything including changing an address to an already existing policy (£35) and provide a miserable and unhelpful service that leaves you with a feeling that you have been completely and utterly ripped off. God knows what will happened if I ever have to make a claim, would like to give them a minu ...

I took out a policy with budget in Oct 09, after using go compare, I had been with Hastings for years, Budget was cheaper so changed, huge mistake, paid the annual amount in one payment on my card, then got a letter from them saying I had an undisclosed claim, could not tell me anything about it, went into my account and have taken a further £75, still cant find out what for, bank can't help, seems that if you use your card with crooks like budget you give them access to your money and the ...

If you need to deal with customer service it is an absolute nightmare. The call centre staff have no sense of customer service and everything is covered by the "system says" . If you need to cancel the cancel charges exceed other insures by 200%

I would give no stars and dread to think what it would have been like if I made claim.

Spent 7 hours trying to sort out a transfer of vehicle. The price increased every time I called and was far higher than the internet price for a full 12 months cover. Staff were arrogant and rude. They refused to answer straightforward questions and relished in the knowledge that they were annoying me.

After sorting out the cover I found the vehicle's weight was wrong (Budget's fault). They blamed me for not asking! Offered me the option to cancel my cover at a cost to me of most of the premiu ...

I got this quote and was very happy with the price including the optional RAC cover which I took. It took 3 weeks to receive my cover note and when i went to purchase road tax i realised the cover was for the right car but the wrong registration, in the questionnair it asks for the vehicle currently insured for the no claims years and they used that registration. the customer services people told me i was an "idiot" and that it was my fault and when i asked to speak to a manager i was accused of ...

Do not use this company, the first year price is a catch and when the renewal is vastly higher than the previous year they will charge you ££££s to cancel the policy.

    You have been warned

been with budget for 3 years and never made a claim. today i tried to cancel the policy 6 months into it and have been told not only do i have to pay cancellation fee of £35 i also have to pay the full £131 for the remaining months. i haven't got this amount to pay them as ive just had to buy a new vehicle. i could have carried on paying my £22 a month for another 6 months (would be easier) AND not have to pay cancellation fee, but i can't as i have 11 years no claims which i c ...

Budget Car Insurance = 0 points out of 5 for everything - I had to give them 1 star to post this review.

Beware the automatic policy renewal. You can by all means call them and cancel. Be warned though - in my case this did not stop them taking the full policy renewal from my card anyway after verbally agreeing that the policy was cancelled and no premium would be taken. This constitutes misrepresentation under English Law. Yet another company that thinks they are too big and powerful to have t ...

Obstructive, they automaticaly renewed my policy when the van was on a SORN. Budget Car Insurance would not listen to anything, my questions went unanswered.

This is a very poor company with a sharpe website and a back office. You have been warned.

Had a policy with Budget Car Insurance for twelve months, did the automatic renewal which wasn't a problem. Then had the audacity to sell my vehicle three months into the second year. Obviously I no longer need insurance for it, I'll cancel it I thought to myself. Not a problem but the cancellation fee & some other tripe they came up with meant that I was left paying them the whole years premium bar approx £5. The real icing on the cake 'it is not company policy to give any refunds with a ...

We have been automatically renewed by Budget, which they inform us, we need to write to them to cancel this policy. Our policy is 2-3 times more expensive than anyone else but they charge £250 to cancel. Despite the automatic renewal in June we still do not have an insurance certificate in July. I really would not recommend Budget insurance to anyone.

Budget Car Insurance are cheap for a reason. I sold the car insured after 6 months and Budget have qouted £550 to cancel the policy. I contested but agreed to pay their £35 cancellation fee. A month passed then I recieved a letter from a debt collection agency demanding another £220, a figure I believe they have pulled out of thin air.

Budget Car Insurance's initial premium quotations are competitive but their renewal quotations are not. Like so many insurance companies, their automatic renewal statements are written poorly and its an 'opt out of' service which seems extremely difficult to opt out of and to get out of once you're in it. Their customer service is poor and their speed in getting cancellation documentation out is by pigeon mail. The renewal quotations I received are astronomical (aren't most of them I guess) b ...

I've sold two vehicles, in order to buy one.

Budget: tried to cancel with 7 months to go and was told that I'm due 80% of the remaining fees plus a cancellation fee that amounted to more or less the whole remaining payments - £170.00

Direct Line: On the other hand, did the same to Direct Line who told me: "Thank you for ensuring with us, cancellation fee is £17.50"

Insurance is a bet - I bet against the company that I will not have an accident. If I do, they loose, if I don't, I ...

I took out car insurance with Budget insurance over the last few years. My policy expired on the 15th Nov 08 and currently paying £35 per month by direct debt. They wanted to renew my policy and I called and asked why my policy has been increased to £45 per month. I've never claimed or had an accident. They told me some silly story to justify the increase. I went on line and found a policy with Lloyd's TSB for £25 per month which I paid by credit card. I called budget today ...
