Spent 7 hours trying to sort out a transfer of vehicle. The price increased every time I called and was far higher than the internet price for a full 12 months cover. Staff were arrogant and rude. They refused to answer straightforward questions and relished in the knowledge that they were annoying me.

After sorting out the cover I found the vehicle's weight was wrong (Budget's fault). They blamed me for not asking! Offered me the option to cancel my cover at a cost to me of most of the premium in fees. Absolute disgrace! I've since spoken to the insurance ombudsman who has offered to take on the case if a formal complaint does not resolve the problem. I recommend others do the same. NEVER USE BUDGET... NEVER!

I got this quote and was very happy with the price including the optional RAC cover which I took. It took 3 weeks to receive my cover note and when i went to purchase road tax i realised the cover was for the right car but the wrong registration, in the questionnair it asks for the vehicle currently insured for the no claims years and they used that registration. the customer services people told me i was an "idiot" and that it was my fault and when i asked to speak to a manager i was accused of ...

Do not use this company, the first year price is a catch and when the renewal is vastly higher than the previous year they will charge you ££££s to cancel the policy.

    You have been warned

been with budget for 3 years and never made a claim. today i tried to cancel the policy 6 months into it and have been told not only do i have to pay cancellation fee of £35 i also have to pay the full £131 for the remaining months. i haven't got this amount to pay them as ive just had to buy a new vehicle. i could have carried on paying my £22 a month for another 6 months (would be easier) AND not have to pay cancellation fee, but i can't as i have 11 years no claims which i c ...

Budget Car Insurance = 0 points out of 5 for everything - I had to give them 1 star to post this review.

Beware the automatic policy renewal. You can by all means call them and cancel. Be warned though - in my case this did not stop them taking the full policy renewal from my card anyway after verbally agreeing that the policy was cancelled and no premium would be taken. This constitutes misrepresentation under English Law. Yet another company that thinks they are too big and powerful to have t ...

Obstructive, they automaticaly renewed my policy when the van was on a SORN. Budget Car Insurance would not listen to anything, my questions went unanswered.

This is a very poor company with a sharpe website and a back office. You have been warned.

Had a policy with Budget Car Insurance for twelve months, did the automatic renewal which wasn't a problem. Then had the audacity to sell my vehicle three months into the second year. Obviously I no longer need insurance for it, I'll cancel it I thought to myself. Not a problem but the cancellation fee & some other tripe they came up with meant that I was left paying them the whole years premium bar approx £5. The real icing on the cake 'it is not company policy to give any refunds with a ...

We have been automatically renewed by Budget, which they inform us, we need to write to them to cancel this policy. Our policy is 2-3 times more expensive than anyone else but they charge £250 to cancel. Despite the automatic renewal in June we still do not have an insurance certificate in July. I really would not recommend Budget insurance to anyone.

Budget Car Insurance are cheap for a reason. I sold the car insured after 6 months and Budget have qouted £550 to cancel the policy. I contested but agreed to pay their £35 cancellation fee. A month passed then I recieved a letter from a debt collection agency demanding another £220, a figure I believe they have pulled out of thin air.

Budget Car Insurance's initial premium quotations are competitive but their renewal quotations are not. Like so many insurance companies, their automatic renewal statements are written poorly and its an 'opt out of' service which seems extremely difficult to opt out of and to get out of once you're in it. Their customer service is poor and their speed in getting cancellation documentation out is by pigeon mail. The renewal quotations I received are astronomical (aren't most of them I guess) b ...

I've sold two vehicles, in order to buy one.

Budget: tried to cancel with 7 months to go and was told that I'm due 80% of the remaining fees plus a cancellation fee that amounted to more or less the whole remaining payments - £170.00

Direct Line: On the other hand, did the same to Direct Line who told me: "Thank you for ensuring with us, cancellation fee is £17.50"

Insurance is a bet - I bet against the company that I will not have an accident. If I do, they loose, if I don't, I ...

I took out car insurance with Budget insurance over the last few years. My policy expired on the 15th Nov 08 and currently paying £35 per month by direct debt. They wanted to renew my policy and I called and asked why my policy has been increased to £45 per month. I've never claimed or had an accident. They told me some silly story to justify the increase. I went on line and found a policy with Lloyd's TSB for £25 per month which I paid by credit card. I called budget today ...

Had a car accident about 2 months ago now. We contacted Budget within hours of the crash and explained what had happened. They promised us a call back within a few hours. Nothing happened for a few days so we called them again and were once again promised a call back. After two weeks of waiting we went direct to the underwriters, Zurich, only to be told they had no record of our claim! Went back to budget and after being passed from pillar to post and being on hold for over half an hour we final ...

I cancelled a Budget insurance policy by telephone in April and was told there would be no charge as it still had 3 months to run and I was fully paid up.
Later I received firstly a cancellation fee request £12 then a bill for a further £64.
I wrote three times to query this and still have not received an answer. I telephoned eight times and went through to their call centre queues, twice when I asked to speak to a supervisor I went on hold for over 20 minutes before I gave up.
    I w ...

I have had to ring up a few times for my insurance documents for them to keep telling me its on its way! I'm not happy to continue my insurance with them now and I have to pay to cancel my policy and will only get a refund on what ive paid when I send the certificate back (thats if i ever get it myself!).

I was into my second year with budget, previous insurers were AXA, no accidents or claims, phoned them on their 0870 telephone number which costs you money while you are on hold,to tell them I had sold the vehicle and could I cancel/ refund the 7 months that was left, not a problem sir, but, there is a charge for this, and a charge for something else, the bottom line was, that out of the cost of £118.30 for the policy, the refund for 7 months was 49p.

To be fair the insurance was cheap at the start but then I moved house and they charged me £25 to change my address with them! I have just bought a new car before my year is up with the insurance and they have just charged me another £25 admin charge! When I asked if i could cancel she said it would cost me £35 plus but wouldn't actually give me a definite price on how much it would cost me to cancel, so I just kind of huffed and have gone with it for now, but will NEVER use ...

This is the second review I have written about Budget and I'm not one to moan but I am so annoyed, not only were they any help when I got hit by a bike last October, the work carried out to my car was so bad (they would not even take it back to fix it) that when I had to get rid of the car they charged me again an admin fee. I've been driving for 17 years and had one accident and when they sent me my renewal notice they wanted to charge me £1014 for a years insurance! When I phoned to dis ...

Been with Budget Car Insurance for a number of years never made a claim. So don't know of problems on that side. Got a quote off them on internet with no free breakdown cover. When paper work came through it had free breakdown cover but was £80 more. When I rang to complain they just kept saying it was free. How? Anybody else noticed this?
