Avoid this liar company they are misleading clients sending estimating messages but nobody is way way They are the worst company ever . Never use RAC again . They don’t care about clients that it’s on the road on a cold wind . They are. Very disrespectful . Horrible service and make us wait more then 8 hours for a center London recovery . Very disappointed , my company itself we canceled 18 membership . And never ever ever we use then again Use any other alternative company but never use RAC Rubbish and money waste Never again

“Car insurance ”

Change car which was half the value of the other car due to shielding and lockdown and struggling financially and they wanted 70 a month while before I was paying 17 a month and I am 54 clean license and never claimed them hammer me for cancellation never again very disappointed steer clear

“Charges to make changes”

Not the young ladies fault but I when I mentioned I’d be doing less miles and am now unemployed she said that would cost a further £9 + £25 admin fee. That is unacceptable especially when some insurance companies are refunding some of the costs due to coronavirus. Why would there be a charge for less miles. To then be told £25 admin fee in theses times and when I’d just lost my job. Looks like I’ll be shopping around at renewal time. So I left the mileage at the original level and she did at least cancel the admin fee

“Puncture”

I was visiting my husband in hospital, he'd had an operation the day before for lung cancer, I stayed all day until 8pm when I went down to car park I found I had a puncture. I phoned the RAC they said Three to Five hours. Told my husband he came out of his hospital bed and changed the tyre. I,m 71 RAC a joke.

“Unbelievable”

"I had to cancel my insurance because… "I had to cancel my insurance because they put up the cost due to incorrect information held by them and the underwriters. The insurance had not even started but they charged me £25 for cancelling. I have tried to get this money back but they never answer the emails and the people on the phone are useless. Big company must need my £25. Promised to reply to my email on a certain date and haven't, and that was the email to the top of the business. There for the motorist!!!!!!

“RAC is not a good car insurance provider - AVOID...”

Fortunately I did not have to make a claim as it seems this is a challenging process from reading some other reviews here. All i wanted to do was cancel my insurance as I returned the contract hire car and they charged me £55 cancellation and another £10 for something else - never heard of such a charge before, insurance companies make their money via up front commissions which they add to the total cost of insurance for the year - so this charge just leaves me with a feeling of being mugged - no more RAC insurance or breakdown cover ever again, goodbye & so long !!!

“Absolutely Awful”

Once I had ended my insurance with this company I requested my no claims bonus. No contact at all for a week so I chased them. After £20 worth of calls they said I had made a claim a few months ago. I said I did not. It turns out a taxi driver had slightly bumped me and I told them in the event of him making a claim I had phots of the incident showing I was not to blame but did not want to make a claim. They have told me this stands for 6 months as a claim on my insurance. Steer clear bloody awful company.

“Waste of time”

Filled in details online. Obtained quote of £377.08. Tried to pay having put in purchase date - and suddenly 'the site was closed due to maintenance'. Rang up - 10 minutes listening to drivel before I got to an adviser. Lots more sales chat - finally confirmed the quote of £377.08 and eventually go to the payment part - and I was then told. 'The price is £553 - OK?' Hang on - what ... No explanation for the huge price hike, just told 'That's now the price...' No explanation for not honoring the quote which on screen I was told was valid for today. He just kept saying - 'That's the price - OK? No - that's really NOT OK! Disgraceful! Will not buy any RAC products from now on.

dont claim when insured with rac you just get moved from pillar to post ask for the underwriter and deal with them rac and it's agent are out to make money from you if your injured or a credit agreement for a hire car no wonder the premiums are going up never insure with them

“Terrible customer service”

Recently I tried to renew my car insurance with RAC. However the agent I spoke to gave my the wrong information about my payment details resulting in my bank declining the payment. When I telephoned to complain about this, being put on hold for twenty minutes, I was told on several occasions that an agent would return my call, this did not happen. When I eventually spoke to a team leader (not the friendliest) he seemed quick to try to close the complaint. Also I was told that I had to pay extra money, which was not included my payment. He did later offer (at my request) a £10 good will gesture. When you gain extra years on 'no claims' your premium seems to increase! not decrease.

“Poor service and nightmare to cancel ”

Recently changed car and called to change details. Was astonished to find not only a huge charge in changing details but also outrageous premium. Nearly double the price compared to most other insurance companies. Cancelling was a nightmare as well. avoid if possible.

“Ripoff”

Rang to change my car policy, wanted £180 additional premium, already paid in excess of £200 to renew last month, new car is same type as existing car.they told me cost at renewal would be around £600. Got quotes with Admiral £212.55, Tesco 235.65, and A new quote with RAC £225. This is a complete racket and a ripoff

“Horrendous customer experience ”

I chose to insure my car through rac they weren't the cheapest but having such a good repuatation I decided to go with them, they asked me for proof of my 2 years no claims discount via email (no phone calls or letters at all) so I could only provide 1 year after the insurer (Churchill who were very helpful and I shouldn't of left) gave me my proof no problem the company before however I couldn't get in touch with to prove the other year. So I accepted that my premium would probably go up with rac as I couldn't prove the other year I found this totally reasonable. Rac however cancelled my policy told me they were no longer able to insure me, refused to give me my £81 deposit back due to the fact they had already insured me for a month (although my insurance was only £60 a month) but I decided to accept that. What I was not willing to accept is they wanted £122 for 'services' and a £55 cancellation fee even though it was them who decided they no longer wanted to insure me. I am a very reasonable person with that I asked if they could reinstate my policy with a higher premium to allow for the no proof of no claims again they said no, the only option to them was for my to pay my 'fees' then get a brand new policy from them in which I would've had to pay my deposit again in full. Why they think anyone would do this is beyond me as it means I would've of paid them over £200 in the space of a month for basically nothing! Technicalities aside they have been awful, so unhelpful they manager I spoke to did nothing but keep repeating himself saying 'it's not our fault' that to them is obviously a reasonable way of dealing with their customers, without which they would have no business. I would never give rac another penny of my money this was such a minor issue that we could of resolved between us but unfortunately I am now currently in the process of speaking to trading standards and claiming money back for my lengthy phone call where I achieved nothing. Myself and my whole family have cancelled our breakdown cover with them and I am working with my bank to ensure these obscene charges cannot be taken. I myself work for a huge company (a very well known one) and if we ran our business this way I would expect to not have one left. Customer service goes a very long way and greed is unfortunately going to cost this company. If they can afford to lose customers this way good luck to them!

“RAC blow ”

So ill start with the fact i had 2 years no claims but they only accept one which on the whole is my fault. So then I recieve an email stating my premium will go up if I don't contact them so I didn't and expected to pay the higher amount but RAC cancels my insurance and charges me £200 in total for 14 days insurance. Not pleased with there service and will never use it again and I'm advising all friends and family.

“RIPPED off ”

Just received an email that for a missed payment due to other payments taken from my account i will be charged a hefty £25, and my insurance for a month is £29. Are you kidding me? A ripp off company, which sadly won't realise until you already signed with them. Doing a research apparently a change of address would cost you the same and to cancel fee is at least £55. Right now i would love to speak to the head of the insurance! And i should share how great you breakdown cover is too since i had to stay behind the wheels at - 3 celsius with the window open behind a recovery van and a piece of metal, didn't you hear of platform, not to mention my car is automatic. To summarise i don't recommend rac and you should be aware if thinking of buying insurance from them and read the small print!

“Bad Customer Service”

I have just taken a 12 month policy for my 17 year old son and paid £1305 cash. I was sent a 'link' in an email to obtain policy documents. When I clicked this I was asked to 'Register' When I did this the system said it did not recognise the details entered even though these included the policy number in the email. When I phoned 'customer service' I was asked to state what details were entered as they did not know what questions were being asked on their own web site. Why can't they just send the policy documents as an attachment to an email ? Why do I need to 'register' ? The call centre were most unhelpful. Email replies are not monitored. Don't use this company !

“Worst insurance company - ever”

I could honestly not say worse things about this company if I tried - RAC wanted to charge me 550 pounds more because I now have a UK driving licence - it is apparently 550 pounds cheaper to drive on an international driving licence than change to a UK one. I still have my International drivers so why do I need to change? Because I do not want to change and am legally allowed to drive on my international for another year RAC wants to cancel my policy and charge me 75 pounds to do it. You must be kidding me! Further the consultants slipped up and I now have proof of this company lying via my phone record which I will make public should they not sort this mess out. Keep it simple and do not use this company!

“rip off merchants”

bought a home insurance policy. I had to pay a whopping £50 to cancel! that's the highest I've ever heard. There phones lines are 7pence a minute and they take a least 20mintues to answer everytime I've called. AVOID
