This is the most unprofessional company I have ever had to deal with. They do not quote the facts and they confuse the information you've given them.

They are more than slow to deal with a car insurance claim and they fraudulently take money out of your bank account.

They're obviously trying to save money with their automated telephone response system and once you do get through, if you get through, their operatives not only mis-quote the information you given them, lie and when they really don't know what's going on, divert your call to a different dept which entails being kept on hold for 20 minutes or more.

For car insurance - don't touch Aviva with a barge pole.

I was a young driver so when I saw they had the cheapest quote, I took it straightaway (and it was cheaper by a country mile).

I had my first and only accident (so far) in November 2007 when another young driver hit into the back of me, rang NU/Aviva up, they sent a recovery truck, took the car to a reputable Ford repair garage where it was in for 2 weeks.

The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because their courtesy car hire company (Drive Assist) is an absolute joke! They wanted our credit ...

I feel so strongly about this company that it has caused me to sign up to this site to let others learn from my misfortune.
Aviva is one of the two worst companies I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I would be here all day if I described all my grievances, so here are a few.
I was rear ended by a van whilst stationary at a roundabout. The 3rd party was uninsured and gave false details, though I had the license plate number. They supposedly ran a DVLA check, though I have my suspicions ...

Not the cheapest - could not see them on the aggregators so I went to them direct. But they were cheaper than the big brands on the aggregators. When I was with them before they were brilliant about paying my claim and making sure I was alright when I called them to tell them about the accident. I am sorry I left to go to Diamond.

How can aggregaqtors say they compare the market if Aviva is not there?

Appalling customer service, do not return calls, disinterested customer service staff, quick to take money but very slow with anything else, correspondance incorrectly dated....I could go on.

    BEST TO AVOID

If Aviva cannot manage basic administration properly, I have no confidence they will be able to manage an insurance claim properly.

I have just cancelled my policy after 12 days with them. I just wish I had read the reviews on this site before buying the policy. I might have saved the c ...

Like most other comments totally fed up with Aviva. Took my car Insurance with them they asked for proof of NCD which i have sent, twice only to get a letter to say it was no good even though it is a current certificate of insurance. I asked if they would send it back since its no good to them and they have refused, saying they need to keep it on file. If its no good to them why are they refusing to send it back? Customer service is a joke will not be renewing with them and will not recommend th ...

Last year I was Swift.com got a higher renewal quote so went to Aviva as they did quote me happy (not realising I was about to be cheated) recently got my renewal and they wanted £80 pound more than last year and no I never had a claim. I've gone with Onecall I stated I had 9+ years no claims I was quoted £296 sent my renewal form off as requested anf they sent me an email saying as I only had 5 years no claims bonus they were putting my quote up by £92. Aviva only give you 5+ ...

Absolutely disgusted with the customer service from Aviva for Car Insurance. I have made 4 calls spead over 2 hours being passed around from 1 call centre person to another, none of who could understand basic English - surely a pre-requisite when dealing with English customers?

They sold me the policy no problem - then sent an amended bill and took extra money off me, even though it was Aviva's mistake. Half the details on the policy incorrect as the girl was Indian. They said that they would ...

What a total joke!!!! Don't send your insurance certificate in the post then say that they have done and tell you that you must pay £5.20 to get another one sent out recorded delivery! Had to phone Norwich Union car insurance twice to even get someone who had an idea what they were talking about!!

    ** BEST TO AVOID **

We have car insurance and house insurance with Norwich Union - NEVER AGAIN. Terrible rude service agents, I've been told we have no policy, even though we have a policy for years - never had to claim so have never experienced the Customer Service - but it is SHOCKING!!
Ive been cut off so many times, promised call backs that never happen, been called MR and when im clearly female, have agents that are totally clueless.

May 2009. It's just taken 4 phone calls to Aviva (Norwich Union) and over 1 hour in total on the phone (actual time talking to call agents, not the time in call queues) for them to change my car insurance poilcy over to a new car. Never again !
A simple example of what you will get of you call Aviva for anything beyond a quote or renewal......
Call Agent: ' And what is the regisatration and make of your new car..?
Me: ' xxx xxxx.... it's a new Toyota'.
Call Agent: (Repeats reg back, then pau ...

I was with Norwich Union between 2006-2008 and would not return to them. I had a roundabout crash in Dec 2007. I knew it would be settled 50:50, as no witnesses stopped, so figured it would be settled quite quickly. Even so it wasn't until July 2008 that NU finally settled my claim.

I had to deal with foreign call centres each time who kept telling me that they would ring me on a certain date, then didn't call. Their excuse every time was that they hadn't heard back from the third party insure ...

I had to request a copy of a previous years insurance policy or a letter confirming I was insured as I had been incorrectly charged with driving without insurance. Having spent 11 hours on the phone to Norwich Union's overseas call centre, over 2 months, they were unable to provide a copy of my previous years motor insurance policy or a letter confirming I was insured despite the fact that I was.It was the worst, most incompetent, unhelpful, rude and unnecessary customer experience I could ever ...

i just had an unexpected excellent service from Norwich Union Direct Car Insurance! someone hit my car at 9:15am. 15 minutes later I called NU, excellent customer service, did not have no wait, clear instructions, speedy and efficient. In the same afternoon the garage came to collect my car and left the courtesy car. In the mean time, they called me to update about collection times etc. I will go on holiday, they will fix the car, park it outside my house and drop the keys in the letter box - so ...

I have to say with less than a week into my policy I am very disappointed! The first problem I had was when I purchased my car from network q the policy documents were LATE!I had to approach another insurance company to release a cover note so that I could tax my car. And drive it off the forecourt! To add to the insult the payment had already been taken out in full! The second problem I am now faced with is proving my 3 years NCB!Norwich Union are my prevous insurerwhat a shambles! Its starting to ...

As we followed the progress of our claim it all went downhill. We are now on our eleventh day and no one has come out to inspect the damage to our car, I have had to explain to several different people in a call centre that the car is very likely written off and when are they going to send an engineer. Also I've had to laise between them and the hire car company about extending the hire of the car for more than a week. Had been told by Norwich Union that they would sort it out and have had to re ...

I thought I was choosing a good car insurance policy at what I deemed was a 'fair' price (most definitely not the cheapest), and with a reputable company - but this was in fact the not the case.Immediately after taking out the policy, I was away on holiday for three weeks, and on my return found two letters from Norwich Union requesting my proof of no claims bonus from my previous insurer. I immediately contacted my previous insurer who assured me that they would send this to me immediately - it ...

Was with Norwich Union for years, bought a Jaguar xj8 which unfortunatley got pinched 8 weeks later. Cost me £8000 NU paid me £5000 well below book and it took a lot of aggro to get the £5k.
Never again will I insure with NU.

I had been with Norwich Union Direct for over 5 years insuring 2 cars with them. When I insured one of my cars with them in early August they told me I would have my insurance certificate the next day, it never came and I needed it so that the dealer I bought it from could tax it so that I could drive it home. The following days post arrived and still no insurance certificate, I called them and asked if they had posted it, I got transferred through to different people, eventually I was told that ...
