I've had car insurance with halifax for 3 years with no problems. However now that I've decided to change cars they've decided to rip me off. My premium has now doubled per month despite the fact I've been driving for 14 years with no claims. The same policy was £25 cheaper on a price comparison website and customer services refused to give me the deal. do not buy car insurance from this company. I have recently had an accident, 6 weeks later,despite being disabled and being house bound without a car I am no closer to resolution. I have spent hours and hours on the phone,have been made seriously ill and have constantly been lied to by agents acting for this company. I found Halifax car insurance on a comparison site they where one of the cheapest and what looked like value for money until .They ask me to submit my no claims bonus proof i have 9 yrs so i sent them aprox 10 to 15 copies as every day they would send an email saying they had not received it yet and my time was running out .When they eventually said they had received it. I had a collision last Monday (10 Aug), the third party was to blame, it's all on dashcam which I downloaded, burnt it to dvd and sent it off to Innovation Group not Halifax. I wish I had read the reviews on here before insuring with this company. An insurance company is only as good as how they handle your claim, if you are unfortunate enough to have to do so. I currently have a no fault claim going through, where the other party has accepted liability for hitting my unattended car. Their process is to pass you to Minster Law, who go through the same question about 3 times, then they pass it to Enterprise Claims who ask you the same questions all over again… Read Full Review

Don't even think about using these muppets. Following a no-fault accident where the third party admitted liability in writing, the entire process is fundamentally flawed. The process involves a third party claims management company ringing off the hook to ask 'are you sure you don't have whiplash' followed by separate calls required to underwriters and brokers. had to replace the old car and Halifax wanted 4x more than any other company to insure the new car. they then wanted £55 from me to do so!!! Tip for anyone in that situation - Take out the policy at the higher price and then cancel it within 14 days (as your legally entitled to) thus avoiding a cancellation charge… Read Full Review

I have been with Halifax for the last 2 years for 2 vehicles. Just 14 days before renewal I received a quote for one car which was more than double last years premium. When I phoned to query whether they had charged me for a Ferrari instead of a Focus she told me that something must have changed. “Terrible claims procedure, avoid at all cost.”

I was insured with Halifax at the time of my accident in February 2014. The accident was straightforward and the other driver admitted liability. Now in August 2014 my claim is nowhere near complete, calls are never, ever returned. Customer Services hang up or put me on permanent hold and they just couldn't be bothered with me as a customer. In the same boat, car was taken for repair 4 weeks ago (Halifax say we cant take it to another garage or we will be liable for the costs) after the first week being told parts were on order, second week being told it was started then later that week being told that the parts had only just been ordered, 4 weeks in now been told we should get a call next week with a date for the works to commence
