Good Points: MP3 tag view, cute.
Bad Points: Poor MPEG-4 compatibility, freezes a lot, Terrible MP3 freezes.
General comments: Hi there.
I would LOVE the Kiss DP-1000-SFF to have made me happy. I read some favorable reviews and jumped in... now, a week later, I have it boxed up ready to be returned to the dealer.
There are several big problems. Firstly, it freezes a lot. I have a lot of Divx and Xvid disks, and about 30% of them freeze.
Worse than this is the appauling MP3 performance. It cannot play more than 3 tracks without freezing, and you have to pull out the power cable and the plug it back in to reset the system. This MP3 problem is regardless of whether the files are within a folder or in the root of a disk.
This same MP3 problem would happen if you push the next chapter button, and it should take you to another track or another folder, but it just freezes. I tried dozens of MP3 disks which I have made over a period of 4 years, and ALL of them freeze on the Kiss DP-1000 with the very latest firmware installed (2.8.5) NONE of these same MP3 disks cause any freezes whatsoever on my brother's Yamada 6600.
I am sad because the Yamada has no MP3 Tag info like the Kiss machine does, but the Yamada plays all the Divx and Xvid disks except one, and played all MP3 disks.
So, in short, DO NOT buy this machine, there are much more compatible ones out there.
Good Luck,
Mark.

There is only one reason that I bought this Kiss DP-1000-SFF dvd player. It is the only product (dvd player, stereo or cd player) I have ever found that plays ogg music files. Already owning a dvd player, I didn't need another one for dvd - but since converting all my music to the superior to mp3, ogg vorbis format, I needed something other than my pc to play them. And so, I was prepared to pay the steep price of £100 (steep considering the glut of cheap players available at around &pou ...
