Good Points: Relatively cheap price, best picture quality, lot of functions on an entry-level camera, excellent bundled software.

Bad Points: High power consumption, lack of optical zoom, no USB support.

General comments: The olympus c860 has to be the best digital camera you can get for this amount of money. The picture quality is just superb, many professional options are available, uncompressed TIFF format is also supported. The 'battery eating' behaviour can be cured by purchasing rechargable NiMH batteries. If you don't like the slow serial connection when downloading pictures, I would recommend that you buy a Smartmedia reader USB or PCMCIA equipment.

The pictures I have taken are very clear, even at large picture sizes. So far I have mostly been using High Quality mode where I can store up to (approximately) 36 superb pictures on a single 8MB card.
