akito edge motorcycle jacket in anthracite.

i wanted a light weight motorcycle jacket with ce armour for summer riding so i purchased an akito edge jacket in anthracite, with 20% off at j&s plymouth i thought it would be a bargain.
oh how i wish i had stuck with frank thomas !
firstly this jacket is not waterproof. rode home in heavy rain and was soaked through to the skin, the so called 100% waterproof fabric soaks it up and in like a sponge.
the jacket was wringing wet and took several days to dry out and akito should be held accountable under the trades description act !.
secondly the arm linings hang down from the sleeves making it impossible to get the zip done up 100%.
akito is budget motorcycle gear but is not a make i would recommend i also have a pair of akito motorcycle trousers which whilst claiming to be 100% waterproof are also not, the rain soaks through the material on this too.
in the end its done to budget i guess, but in the long run its false economy.

Bought Akito Edge jacket and have been wearing it regularly since I got my first bike about 10 months ago. Have worn it in rain and it's kept me dry but I don't know if I would trust it for long distance rainy riding. I don't know why other people have complained about the rainproofing, it kept me totally dry after half hour rides in pouring rain. Jacket is really comfy and well shaped, lots of adjustments, zippable cuffs, etc. The jacket is surprisingly warm too, have worn it in freezing te ...

I have the dessert suit. Was cheap to buy and so far has been pretty good. Warm and fairly waterproof but if it's raining hard and I'm going far I put waterproofs over the top. Rode UK to Morocco in December in it and it was fine. Shame the back protector isn't standard but I bought one and it wasn't too expensive.

All in all I've been very happy with the performance of the Akito Desert set. One thing that I did wonder from time to time was whether the Knox armour would hold up well in a spill, I found out the hard way today that it does (thanks to some diesel and a quick bounce down the road) as does the 600d outershell and seams of the Akito set, not a mark on me and the clothing faired quite well too. Infact I'm that happy with how well they have kept me dry and protected me when the worst happened that ...

I would not buy this jacket. It looks nice but its not an all rounder. I wore the jacket in the rain for 10 minutes and was totally shocing, its was useless in my opinion

Would not purchase again. Jacket leaked like a sieve through the arms and both sides of the zip while the centre behind the zip stayed dry.

If you don't ride in the rain much - then these are good value for money, but if you rely on your bike for everyday transport spend a little more and get something decent.

The Akito waterproof motorcycle jacket is good cheap kit. Would highly recommend. Very comfortable on the bike and off.
Jacket is very warm also.. in summer removing lining will maintain heat levels.
All in all a very good piece of kit.. looks nice as well.

These are rubbish! Don't buy if you ride in the rain - but good in freezing cold weather.

Bought Akito waterproof jacket and got free trousers in January sales,; a regular special offer. Used them through rain, hail, etc.

+Keep out nearly all the rain
    +Like the armour
    +Very well priced
+I ride every day and they seem good enough
    quality to last.
    +Many pockets
    +good offroad
    -Sleeves get wet.
-When you remove the lining in the trousers, the velcro digs into your legs (not the fluffy side.)
-Ends of trouser legs badly designed, tuck INTO boots and channel water likewise ...

The Akito waterproof motorcycle jacket is a decent looking jacket with loads of pockets, have been forced to use it in very heavy rain and arrived totally dry.
It is a very warm jacket for winter use problem is it rains in the summer as well, the lack of an option to remove the lining means I tended to overheat on warmish/wet days.
The jacket is a good length and covers my back when I am in my normal riding position (Fireblade), a lot of more expensive kit is shorter and I end up with frozen k ...

looking for a forum to see what others think of Akito clothing. So far it's been warm waterproof and cheap. Trousers are a little annoying as knee protection tends to move a round a fair bit and can get a little uncomfy. For those who love pockets, this is the one the jacket has 11 pockets and the trousers a further 4. Thats 15 pockets???
