There doesnt seem to be a lot of reviews. My partner and I spent 4 days in July (on Sun holdiay) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The staff were friendly and helpful - the caravan was clean.Supermarket was wll socked the swimming pool well attended and we couldnt hear any noise from the cabaret room. I would recommend this park to anyone.ne downside its a very steep and long walk by road to Polpero check out the bus schedule before going

Booked a late deal on this site and was more than happy with the result. The location of the caravan was exceptional with unobstructed views of the cornish countryside. Ok the place is not the most modern and could benefit from a makeover in parts but I've seen worse. The staff were very friendly and there was a relaxed feel about the place. Accomodation was spotless, entertainment was ok (this isn't the west end)bar prices a little over the top but you are on holiday. The site is nicely located between Looe and Polperro. I paid a little over £300 for 4 nights in July which represented good value for money, so I could understand peoples disappointment if they paid a lot more, however I would repeat the experiance given the opportunity.

13th June 2010 We've just returned from a week in Ocean View Cottage - I have to say I was a bit wary after reading Lou's review about the "spooky happenings" but we had a great time in the cottage - nothing spooky! - the views were stunning and the cottage is in a perfect, private spot. Made friends with a little cat and a seagull that kept coming to the patio door (my daughter was really upset at having to leave the cat)! Swimming pool was great. All the staff were really friendly. We never actually found the beach on the site though - went into Looe. Sylvia

ps would like to know what the spooky experiences were tho if you come back Lou

HAVE STAYED AT KILLIGARTH MANOR THREE YEARS IN A ROW AND EVERY TIME FAMILY REALLY ENJOYED THEIR STAY. GREAT VIEWS FROM CARAVANS, OVERLOOKING TALLAND BAY. STAFF QUITE FRIENDLY. POOL AREA, BAR AND SHOP GREAT. HAS ANYBODY STAYED IN OCEAN VIEW AT KILLIGARTH MANOR?? IT IS LOVELY AND BIG WITH GREAT VIEWS OF TALLAND BAY! BUT WE EXPERIENCED SOME SPOOKY THINGS HAPPEN, AND WONDERED IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD ANY OF THESE EXPERIENCES TOO?? WE ARE NOT SURE WHETHER TO BOOK IT AGAIN.

We recently stayed at killigarth manor for a big family holiday. After seeing the reviews on here I wasn't sure what to expect. But glad we did go it was amazing, the carvans were lovely and clean and were so warm. The evening entertainment was the best with foxy club for the kids, adult game shows and cabavre. It was well worth it everyone enjoyed it and wished they were still there now. Everyone on here was making out it was rubbish but the facilities and activities were great with tennis courts, mini golf, swimming and playpark etc. There was different shows on each night and it was great. You don't have to just stay at the park there is looe and polperro near by and we went to cornish world on a sunday it was great. we stayed for 3 nights and wished it was 7.

Originally booked at Trelawne Manor but as caravan was so old & filthy we were moved to Killigarth Manor. We were upgraded to a gold lodge which was lovely, but the site is in need of total refurbishment. The cabaret was a joke. It didn't start until 10.30pm and was like watching a school show. The prices should reflect the lack of facilities. There is absolutely nothing for teenagers to do. The amusement arcade was terrible. I will never stay in a John Fowler park again.

Dirty , run down, nothing like brochure made out, had to put febreeze on furnishings because of smell of dogs, people walking dogs to do their business where kids play, play areas dangerous for kids under 5, i have been of 5 previous holidays with the sun £9.50 deals and they were better this holiday cost me £600.

We left Killigarth Manor Holiday Park a day early.

In need of serious modernisation, if i could rate below 1 star i would.

Before i made my purchase i wish i had researched the park more , i would have saved my money.

Holiday date 18th-25th July 2009
We have just returned from a weeks stay at Killigarth Manor.
We stayed in one of the Gold Lodges. I was amazed at how nice this was, lovely and clean and very big, on suite shower room, separate bathroom, washing machine with built in tumble dryer so for a family of 5 i couldn't have asked for more.

This was our first time at Killigarth, previous years we have spent in South Bay in a gold caravan but the Lodge was double the size.

Will be booking again for next summer but will be spending 2 weeks there instead of one.

Killigarth is in a great location, the staff are great,

There is also a good restaurant which makes a lovely change from the take aways, the food was very good, lots of choice on the menu.

This i must say with the lodges is my favourite John Fowler Park to stay at with children and teenagers.

We stayed at widmouth bay last year and thought it was lovely and so we decided to stay with John Fowler and opted for Killigarth Manor.....WHAT A MISTAKE... the staff were totally unfriendly...the on site engineers were a total disgrace(we needed a light bulb changed at about 8pm in the toilet as it was going dark on our 1st night due to children needing the toilet in the night) should have been checked from housekeeping!!! The stage girl was a disgrace as inbetween every half sentence she was speaking to her mate (how unproffesional) on the Friday night the entertainment (who was fairly good) was told to stop singing because the place was empty.I ordered chicken Madras and rice.....it came in a chip tray...The manageress was too busy smoking at the back door even though i reported our bed was broke..The people in the on site shop were very pleasent. The restaurant closed whenever it pleased................sue me if you like but i have video evidence to prove ALL points made....we are all disgusted...

I absolutly loved Killigarth Manor Holiday Park even though we didnt go in peak season everyone was nice to us and we toke our dog and it was lovley. It has been up to now the best John Fowler park we have been to and we have been to quiet alot. We had a silver caravan and the scenery was lovley there were no other caravans near or surrounding us so we could just see for miles and then in the corner you could see the sea was the best by far and thinking of going again. Plus we had a full week of sunshine.

written by westviewboy on 29/01/2009

We booked with www.polperroholidayhome.co.uk and stayed in a first class caravan with a decked balcony with table & chairs that had uninterrupted panoramic sea and countryside views. Inside the caravan on arrival were complimentory tea and coffee with fresh milk . Freeview digital television and DVD in both the lounge and main double bedroom. En suite , iron & board, washing up liquid, hairdryer, even salt & pepper are some of those all important nice touches which make the experience like home from home. All in all, with all the benefits of all the Killigarth Manor facilities, we enjoyed every minute of our stay in Polperro's number 1 holiday park.

I will keep it quick and objective - we had a lovely holiday at Polperro Lodges 'Luxury 3 bedroom self-catering Pine Lodge on Killigarth Manor A John Fowler Holiday Park'.
We had a great holiday but we left 100 quid deposit, on the day of departure we left early.
Later that weekend I phoned them and they asked if it was my family who damaged a door and carpet.

We never damaged the door it was done before we arrived and her husband did the handover so how would she have know,

There was a make up mark on a carpet due to a eye liner being left from previous occupants, my daughter found it and we cleaned it up,

We left the lodge in the same condition as we arrived.

We did not get our deposit back - we left the accommodation spotless.

Having bought a lodge at Killigarth just over a year ago I am more than happy with my purchase. However there is a little uncertainty over any future developement of the facilities on the site and this should really be addressed by John Fowler Company.

★☆☆☆☆

written by Watkinson on 25/04/2007

I have recently purchased a caravan on site as a base in Cornwall at Killigarth Manor. However when I revisited the site and went back into the club house and take away I realised my mistake. The whole place is outdated and dirty. The exterior is full of weed beds, the children's play area needs re-painting, the tiled floor in the entrance is dirty and needs replacing. The bins outside of the store are cracked and broken. I have made a big mistake buying and sending my grandchildren to this John Fowler Holiday Park!

Hardly a fair assessment. Looks like someone has a chip on his shoulder.
The park is in a great position for walking to Polperro or Talland Bay.
Pool is good, and enternainment/club was upto standard
The lodges were new and spotless.

Park layout lacks imagination ..but is spacious and tidy

Lucy1975's Response to Watkinson's Review

Written on: 02/07/2008

I quite agree with this review,we stayed last year October (2007) and the place was run down, drab and tired. My children both fell sick after eating from the take-away and when I reported this to the site they were very rude.
The outside gardens were unkempt and full of weeds.
The swimming pool had grit on the bottom!
The standard of entertainment was poor during the evenings and on too late for the little ones.
Cheap but very not cheerful site.
I would not go back.

“We booked for 5 nights in October 2006, during the...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Lucy31 on 27/10/2006

We booked for 5 nights in October 2006, during the school half term. We took our own touring caravan and found the touring field to be fine, as were the showers and toilets most of the time. But the rest of the John Fowler Killigarth Manor Holiday Park looked very unkempt and run down. The flower beds were full of weeds and hanging baskets were still up but full of dead flowers. The grass was overgrown, and the whole site outside looked tired and uncared for. The outdoor play area was grubby - covered with old leaves, nearly all the wood chip bark on the floor had disappeared and the slides were covered with mud. I spoke to another family who said they were disappointed with the general state of the place.

Inside, the place was clean enough, but many of the window sills had peeling paint, missing window handles and some of the windows were very dirty.
The amusement centre was not great. There were no 2p machines for the little ones. Just a couple of pool tables and fruit machines etc. So we did not spend any time in there.

I have already mentioned the take-away food - very poor quality. Not like the menu described at all, and it took way too long to cook(45 minutes to serve 2 kids meals and 2 adults meals)! The food was not fresh; just frozen stuff like you could buy in any supermarket and cook yourself.

The swimming pool was okay. Warm water with a safe area for the children, but quite gritty under foot, and in need of a good clean out. The changing rooms were too small if you had to change small children as well as yourself.
The under 5's indoor play area was really more suitable for under 2's. It just had some baby equipment in it, plastic slides and such, which is not very exciting for an older child.

The entertainment in the evening started too late - after the bingo. The kiddies entertainment did not start until 8:30pm, and it only lasted for 30 minutes. The show was boring, and rather than involve all the kids in the games, they just picked out 5 or 6 kids to take part in competitions while the rest had to watch, and it was too late at night and boring I have been seen much better children's entertainment at other parks, so my 6 year old was disappointed at that.

It may be cheap, but it was certainly not cheerful. I will go elsewhere next year. Just because it was at the end of the season it should not mean that standards are dropped on the park, or maybe it's like that all year round?

★★★★★

written by pamandmeat on 05/08/2006

We have just got back last night from a John Fowler holiday at Killigarth Manor, and it was brilliant! There was loads for the kids to do. Looe and Polpero were lovely, and the entertainment at Killigarth Manor was second-to-none. The Kids were sad to go. The children's entertainers were funny and helpful. We have booked to go back on another John Fowler holiday next year.

The only bad point was the road from the tent and touring site to the club house and shop. You had to be extremely careful because you could see the cars coming from left to right, and when you did they were very fast.

We had a really good holiday, and it was all good fun for the kids and the adults.
