Have just returned from a long weekend at South Bay Holiday Park. We booked 4 caravans in all for a large group of family members. My van was a 4-6 berth Primula Silver I think I drew the short straw ! The caravan stank of bleech and the fumes were so high we had to open all the windows on arrival. One of the mattress covers on the single bed was very dirty, this had obviously not been changed. We collected a replacement from the reception which had been washed but was still damp and we had... only way i can describe the caravan is "wow". my partner and i learnt from experience to book the best john fowler can offer, so went for gold...and got it! we deduced during w/c saturday 24 march 2012 that we were staying in an owner's van as there were some really useful items included in the inventory (tongs for turning bacon and an airer for wet towels), along with some thoughtful finishing touches (a couple of novels and games for children). the main bedroom even boasted a walk-in... 20th july 2010. My self and partner and 10 year old daughter, just came back from South Bay, It was a Sun newspaper holiday so was really cheap. wouldnt like to pay brochure price for what you got there. However, We had a gold caravan which was immaculate. really comfy. The swimming pool was lovely but didnt like the way it shut for an hour at one o clock, which was right in middle of day. However the pool was really warm. We went to the club house only twice and only for an hour so my 10 year... (read more)

I've been to Southbay two years in a row and thoroughly enjoyed every part of it, now even my mother won't holiday anywhere else. The staff were very helpful and even brought us an airer when they saw our towels hanging on the windows. Entertainment for the little ones was brilliant but obviously its not a themepark holiday camp like Butlins. But there is so much to do and see around Brixham so no rides made no difference. Oh and dont forget to visit St Marys cove its such a quiet and lovely... (read more)

Just back from a long weekend at South Bay.
We stayed in a "Silver" caravan. Upon arrival it smelt of cleaning products, and was indeed clean. There was a modern LCD TV and the kitchen was fine. All I would say is that the double bed was really not very comfortable, and the (tiny) WC lacked a door lock, which was a bit embarrassing on occasions. The van was adequate for 2 adults and 4 kids. It was slightly run down (hole in carpet, hole in fridge, that sort of thing) but overall fit for... (read more)

I went to South Bay on 8th Aug 2009
After reading reviews on it I was dreading it!
I went with my partner, son aged 17, son aged 11,sister,brother in law and their son aged 17.we had very good weather and were able to go out and about each day, there are some stunning views and beaches and Brixham harbour is very quaint,I loved it.However the site itself was'nt overly exciting and if the weather had been bad and you had to rely on the site facilities you would be rather bored at any age,the... Third time that we have been to South Bay and the site seems to have lost it's way.
Pool was dirty and closed early everyday.
Shop/club/cafe were all expensive and poor quality.
Entertainers were young, few in number and not really very "entertaining".
Our caravan was excellent, but was privately owned so cannot comment about the standard of the site's accomodation.
Very disappointed to see the decline in this site.

We booked a week at this caravan park and left after three days. Gold standard caravan dirty and complete with dog hairs embedded in the carpet and furniture. Mouldy taps, stained duvets and pillows. Shabby reception area smelt of stale smoke, small swimming pool, broken swings in the park and this was in the school summer holidays - peak season! £1,100 for a week (well three days!) will never be going back or recommending to a friend (or enemy!). Friendly staff was about the only... (read more)

had a awful week at south bay holiday park. the caravan was lovely however the entertainment was outdated and poor. the team of entertainers were very laid back n thought more of themselves than what the kids wanted. they spent most time not out in public view and everything they did on stage was of a poor standard.
definately would not go back, sad as went there 5yrs ago and had an amazing time. (read more)

ok so South Bay Holiday Park was a lovely quiet park, but with 2 teenagers to entertain, there wasn't much for them to do, especailly when it rained, pool was good but closed for lunch, just reminded me of the place we used to visit when i was a child, the entertainment, amusements etc just doesn't seem to have moved with the times, came back on the last nite, and dont think i would consider going again. Very clean and tidy site with friendly staff, good central point for visiting Devon. Modern caravan although cold at night. Very little to do on the park, no facilities other than the pool, unable to use crazy golf facility as it was being painted. The site shop was closed between 1200 and 1600 every day, local shops a good 30 minute walk from the site. Entertainment for kids very poor especially in the evenings. Family holiday with two toddlers but found this site and it's facilities far... (read more)

The guys in foxy club were super with the kids and pool staff are second to none. Good to know kids are in safe hands. myself, partner, stepdaughter, mother, my daughter and 2 grand kids had a great time. Accommodation and site was spotless and all staff were only glad to help, many thanks to all concerned at South Bay Holiday Park. Cheers for now. (read more)

A lovely quiet holiday park. Arrived quite late, caravan was very clean, beds were made and table laid out. Very welcoming. The indoor/outdoor pool was clean and there is a small play area and crazy golf. This site was very nice, but does not have as many facilities as other large parks. It suited us though, as it has everything we required and is ideal for small children. Meals on site are very cheap. Ideal as a base for visiting Brixham, Torquay and Paignton. The site is at the top of a... (read more)

Arrived at the John Fowler South Bay Holiday Park early after a 6 hour drive, made to feel welcome at once. My partner and our three children found plenty to do all week. An excellent location to base a holiday from. A few small problems were dealt with without fuss or delay. High marks for everything and everyone at this excellent holiday camp. (read more)
