We were really looking forward to our holiday, we had never stayed at a John Fowler site before and the brochure looked inviting. When we were given out room we were devastated to say the least. The staircase up to the room was rusted , the paint work on the frontdore all worn away and it looked condemed. Inside it smelt damp and the walls were cracked from the ceiling down to the floor. It had very small windonws which had views of the walls so no light was coming in. Carpets didn t... (read more)

In september, 2012, myself, my husband, my sister and brother-in-law went to Ilfracombe holiday park for a 3 night break. We were allocated a chalet which we could not find . When we evetually found it , we were very disappointed. It had a real musky smell. We had taken some air freshener so had to spray everywhere to try to get a decent aroma. The main disappointment for all of us was that there was no shower, in 2012, NO SHOWER!!!4 people having a bath each night wastes such a lot of... (read more)

I totally agree, we had a Gold Apartment 16-20th apparently newly built, this didn't however stop the smell of damp, this could have had something to do with the mould in the shower cubicle, oh and the linen that smelt like it had been on the bed 6 weeks with a musty aroma, oh and our dvd player was seperate but didn't work along with the free view that didn't work but terrestrial tele did if you squinted. Oh and every piece of cutlery/crockery was dirty, what there was of it because should you wish to use the cooker, there was nothing to cook on! Bonus dishwasher although you couldn't sit on this to watch the out of focus tele, just like you couldn't sit on the 2 seater sofa that was in front of the tele as it dipped in the middle, pulled and stained bad, we spent 3.5 days on the dining chairs, yep didn't even make it till friday. oh and there was nothing to get up all the sand after a day on the beach, not even a carpet brush, steer clear of john fowler ilfracombe, which is a shame because the town is lovely book somewhere in Woolacombe which was the nearby beach (not within walking distance though) we visited most days even in the rain as the accomodation was unbearable. a complete disgrace for the money they charge, unless your a drinking smoking family that live for the night entertainment and love the noise your kids make running along balconies at 1 in the morning, then this is the ideal place for you!
