When trying to monitor your spending using the Co-operative banks online banking system there really is no point. The system takes days to update so you cannot see what payments have gone out, you can never see an accurate available balance. Luckily i have another bank account with a different company whose systems update straight away. I hope to leave due to the incompitent online banking system and the ability to get a accurate balance over the phone, from a machine or anywhere else. I... (read more)

I have accounts with a couple of UK high street banks and compared the co-op is terrible. Unlike with my other banks, you are unable to change your details, cannot select paperless statements, the layout is poor and not straight forward to use, to name but a few issues. Internet banking is suppose to be a useful tool, so that you can manage your banking at anytime of the day - the co-op online banking does not help with this. I would not recommend the co-op online banking service, I hope... (read more)

Every time I need to make an online payment I am locked out and told I am entering incorrect details. I then have to phone and have been told there is a problem with the security machines they issue. Apparently a new one may or may not fix the problem - they don't know. Pretty poor if they are incapable of providing such a basic service. I will be moving my account to Metrobank ASAP. (read more)

I've just read the reviews & perhaps I'm just a dinasour, but I love the cooperative bank. I first starting banking with them abuot 38 years ago after being charged a ridiculous amount of bank charges by my existing bank, Barclays Bank. The incentive with the Coop was that as long as you stayed in credit then you would not be charged any bank charges. This I have done, and I converted my husnband to the Coop from Nat West, and he too was & renmains inmpressed. the internet banking is jusrt... (read more)

I find their international transfers rates absolutely ridiculous compared to other banks rates. For some reason they use an agent in their transfers and that alone is approx 35 GBP. Yes the bank makes mistakes, we all do, but you punish them by reporting them to the Ombudsman and claim compensation as per their guarantee "We promise not to make any financial errors on your statements." Whilst I am sure that there are commendable aspects to the Cooperative Bank the online banking setup is not one of them. The bank seem unwilling to improve this in any significant way despite very vocal criticism of the service that has gone on ever since I can remember. It is not really not fit for any purpose and as many people have pointed out looks and feels like some child has developed the interface. After business banking with HSBC I was in for a shock when experiencing business banking with the co-op. No dedicated account manager that I've ever been aware of. Customer service is non existent unless you know the magic pin code, both over the phone and in branch. Heaven forbid you should forget or lose that pin code. Requesting a new one can take weeks to process. The internet banking has the worst interface. The balance doesn't update in real time, you can't see future payments... (read more)

Internet banking is like a toy town version. The bank makes decisions about changing overdraft limits without telling the customer then charges for the privilege of correcting their arrogance. Don't even think of using their business accounts or on-line banking. They do not provide any way of linking credit slip payments with reports. Online banking is much easier they have recently updated their systems. Cash machine withdrawals appear the same day and direct debits are updated overnight around 2:00 am. You can pay in cash using your debit card and also make free cash withdrawals up to your daily limit, typically £250, at any Post Office.
