Good Points: Great location in the heart of the city centre - and has a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere. Menu seems to be designed to meet all tastes. Staff are excellent - and seem to be pleased to see you - unlike some of the stuffier places.
Bad Points: They tell me that it gets really busy in the early evening - so booking in advance helps. Doesn't have car parking.
General comments: La Bonne Auberge is supposed to be French / Mediterranean, but the menu seems to mix the French style cuisine with Asian influences. No bad thing, as it works really well. I had the Warm Thai Spiced Beef which was really good - perfectly cooked and not too spicey.
Saw another customer having a seafood platter which looked great - will have to go back for that.
The staff are fairly young, but we felt that they were pleased to be there and were having fun. The service is attentive, but very friendly, which makes a nice change!
The wine list offers good selection at decent prices - go for the Pinot Noir - a snip at £16.95 a bottle.
