We have just got home from a 2 week holiday booked through Travel City Direct, staying in a standard 3 bed villa. We had booked a villa in Kissammee but when we arrived we were allocated a villa in Clermont, no where near Kissammee so that was the first disappointment. I have been trying to get through to travel city direct on the phone on their 0844 premium number. For a week or two i have been trying to add dining plan and park tickets to my booking. So far i have been to the exchange via Delhi lol, and spoken to people who dont know what i am saying. When we got to the hire car we got to choose any vehicle from the car park the we set of to get are keys to the villa ! We stayed here summer 2010. Never again! The villas was filthy, the bed covers were stained, the sheets were dirty, the pool was filthy etc., etc. My wife was reduced to tears - we rang the out of hours helpline which was answered by an english lady who was the rep who lived nearby . Everything was amazing - We booked a 4 bedroom excecutive villa which was breath-taking compared to the previous holiday where we had a standard villa (this wasn't as nice but still clean and couldn't complain). Recieved driving instructions from Orlando even though we were flying into Tampa. No supprise then that we spent two hours at the Car hire kiosk as we had no booking, eventualy realising that they had booked car in Orlando !!We then have to drive halfhour past our accomodation to pick up the keys from a place called Hotel Beds Where were then informed for the first time we would have to pay a five hundred dollar deposit...

We have had appalling experience with TCD . We booked a package holiday with them, direct flights to and from Orlando and hotel and car. Booked 13 months in advance and 7 months later they told us we had to now fly via Miami- then tried to charge us an extra £2000 ! I've never in my life had so many issues with booking a holiday as I have had with these people. They are all incompetant and never do what they say they are going to do. We have 15 people in our party, and we've had amended invoices for £22,000 because they double booked our flights, then people's names spelt wrong on the invoice, and then missing tickets, and then booking one of our party on a completely different flight on the way home!!!! Having just returned from a Florida Villa holiday I can recommend Travelcity Direct, from the moment we booked with them we had emails updating us even from the reps in Orlando,we were met at MCO airport by a very friendly rep who directed us to our hire car and gave us directions to our villa rental company. The villa was excellent,the rep in resort was available every morning and we found her helpful and friendly. We would definitely use Travelcity Direct again. (read more)

After weeks of receiving amended invoices because they kept missing off members of our party of 12 we finally received our tickets split into 3 bookings, because of this our seats on the plane left a 2yr old and 3yr old sitting together at the back of the plane?????? I booked a florida holiday for me & my family on Sept10th this yearfor 2 weeks next Aug, I chose the 10.25am Virgin flight from Manchester,paid my deposit and shortly after recieved my confirmation invoice,9 weeks later I recieved an updated and amended invoice bumping us to the 13.45pm flight, customer service is non existent and on pushing them they informed me I could have my orginal choice of flight BUT I would have tp an extra £1350!!

What a hassle booking flights for 11 in delux house with heated pool plus 3 car rentals. Would never recommend this company, totally incompetent.
Failed to book 7 of the 11 flight seats. Eventually managed to get flights out together but on the homeward journey with a four hour stop over in Miami for the unlucky 7. Spliting the group so that all flew out of Gatwick but the unfortunate 7 flew back into Heathrow. Nightmare.

Just to let people know that after recently ringing TCD, I was told by an agent that they are not part of Virgin Holidays but only financially backed by Virgin money. They are 2 different companies even though they use the same flights, same car hire company and in some cases same hotel accomodation which I found odd. Travelled with Travel City Direct 8 times before they collapsed in Sept 08. Was due to go again in Oct 08 but still waiting for my money back from ATOL.
Having said all that, if they were as competitive as before would travel again with them. Never had a major problem with them and found the prices alot cheaper than other companies travelling to Forida. Always had staff available at airports and in resort. Never had a bad holiday with them.
Glad to see Travel City back.

We were there when the towers went down and I can say they looked after us very well we were only delayed 24 hours but we were put up in a good hotel given meals taken to the airport. Other people were delayed longer than us but were left in the airport for up to 3 days waiting for a flight. Also we were there last year when the operators went bust but we got a flight on the day we should have come home and we got home 1 hour earlier than we should have. Glad to see travel city are back, used them 8 times, now part of the virgin group so you know it's probably going to be more expensive, went to Florida in August 2008 flew on an XL A330 Airbus from the outside a big plane BUT inside was a nightmare, no leg room, seat at bulkheads, staff that didn't seem to care. So I'm not sorry to see the end of XL just hope travel city use a well known charter company for 2009. (read more)

My family and I were due to fly with Travel City Direct on the 14th Sep 2008 they went bust on 12th Sep 2008, we were gutted as we saved up for a year and a half and the kids were so excited. Holiday was ruined after travel city went bust, Disney treated us like second class citizens, we couldn't get home and eventually the British consulate stepped in and flew us back on an American Airline. We cant afford to book anything for now but popped into to my local first choice and they have managed to book me the same holiday for 6 months time, but its costing me another £1000. i am now very concerned we travel in 2 weeks time, a group of 9 of us we booked over 13 months ago and i have had to make various phone calls due to mistakes on their part.We have also been split into smaller groups on the booking form back in June i highlited that the 12 seater minibus we had booked was still showing as a request and hadnt been booked with the car hire companty. I was assured at the time it had been sorted. i ring today to check where our tickets are as we are going in 2 weeks to find they wont release then as the minibus is still on request!!
Not impressed have spent the last 2-3 hours phoning and emailing and now have to wait aparently until at least tomorrow.
I will not be booking with them again, have got no faith in them left and am now worried about our accomodation which is supposed to be a 6 bed villa.
What is sad is we have been 3 times with Travel City in the past and have had no problems until now, dont understand it.
Currently waiting for the supervisor/manager on duy to ring me back, wont hold my breath!!
