Good Points: Prompt reply to tell you to get lost.
Bad Points: Flight management rubbish
General comments: Booked with Travel City Direct over 13 months ago. Flying out on 1st May 2008. Not long after paying our full deposit, letter through post, stating Jumbo withdrawn from service from 1st of May, so a 767 will be used. Flight times the same, so ok, not much of a big deal (unless we upgraded seats). Three weeks before flight, now informed this 767 being withdrawn & another 767 will be used. However, now stopping in Canada for a fuel stop. Informed that this plane had no different class seats, so more people can be carried, hence the fuel stop. Obviously annoyed that the flight is NOT non-stop, adding an extra few hours on flight there & back. Complained by all means possible, they did reply promptly, but are are hiding behind the small print (Terms & conditions). TCD do not class this as a material change to the holiday, so can't even get a refund unless I want to loose 80% of my money. As you can imagine what a great way to start your holiday before going. God knows what else we are going to expect. WELL DONE TCD......

You cannot book with Travel City Direct unless you take their "free car hire" or they will charge you a massive premium on their flight price. I have just priced up a premium car with Dollar that comes £216 cheaper than through TCD. Their prices look great until you add in this hidden surcharge.

Two years ago we booked 1st class flights outbound and return. We did not receive it on either flight. After complaints from all who had booked this service (I kept in touch) all any of us got was an apology. Last November we flew again with TCD and booked 1st class return. I have used Travel City Direct for the last 10 years
When they were a local firm (Swansea) (Belonging to the Boardmans) No problems
Caught in 9/11 over there that year used TCD for booking holiday with Virgin (Needed 3 Weeks) (40% less than Virgin brochure same holiday?). Virgin revoke all responsibility for us (Told us we were on our own as this was an act of Terrorism not covered)

We thought the option to upgrade to 40Kg of luggage great as we went mad shopping when we got there.
If I flew with them again would pay to guarantee to be sat together. Because of the cheaper fare you can afford to do this although it does add up if there are a few people travelling.
Would be tempted to take my own food on board.

We have always flown to Florida with Virgin but with 3 children budgets have changed so decided to give Travelcity Direct a go. The price was fantastic and they took care of all the car hire and passes. After reading the reviews I was slightly worried as some people had really slated them. I decided to go ahead and went with a positive view. The flight was on time and we manged to get 5 seats together. We have travelled about six times with Travel City Direct, over the last few years, I have been that impressed, with the services, that I have recommended them to about 5 other families, who have gone on to book holidays with them.
Unfortunately, they were taken over last year by, XL Airways Group and already the customer service is failing and the prices are rising, also in the lastest brouchure, they brag that they have a bigger ecomony pitch than Virgin, but on speaking with customer service ...

In addition to the bad points, they seem to have old planes wherein nothing seems to works properly. Bumpy landings. Found meals were awful and infrequent and as for free drinks - a total waste of time! Waiting an hour and a half for bags after a 9 hour flight without a single representative there to explain the delay. 450 people were being kept waiting!

Generally, they are a very good airline. Aircraft not as nice as virgin atlantic, but what you would expect. Travel city are a lot less money.

It was our first booking with travelcity. We went on dec 9th 2006. as I was 4months pregnant at the time of travelling I had made some requests and they were dealt with. I was given an aisle seat and was seated at the front of the plane. I was obviously showing my pregnancy at the time and I have to admit some of the staff were not so helpful to the fact that I was pregnant. so, the flight out, nothing wrong really, on time, nice seats, free drinks etc. only problem was a faulty armrest - it was stuck on channel 1 so i had to make up my own works to spiderman 3.

We have traveled to Florida ten times, eight of them with Travel City Direct. We can not fault them. Once the plane was delayed and we stayed in a hotel over night. Even then TCD were fantastic very efficient would not travel with another Airline.

I agree with J Gibbons comments. I booked in August with TCD for October 08. After paying my full deposit of £500 for 2 adults and 1 child TCD have come back with a form for me to sign and return asking for my acceptance of a change of 38" seat pitch (premium) to 35" seat pitch with no refund. I flew with TCD out to Sanford on the 17th September returning back to Manchester on the 1st of October. I can honestly say that this airline is better than BA. I flew in economy class and everything was perfect. Service from the cabin crew was excellent.
There is no personal TV monitor on TCD flights, but you can rent a Portable media Player loaded with 20 hours of content for £10/$20.
They are replacing there 747s in January with newer aircraft, so if you are travelling after this dat ...

We were due to leave for Florida in June 2008 flying sunshine upper deck. However, we received a letter advising from Travel City Direct that they were no longer flying that airline and they would be downgrading us to economy and if we weren't happy we could cancel our holiday. I would never fly with Travel City Direct again. I flew with them in 2002 and they were very good, but after the flight last year and looking at the other reviews, never again! We boarded the aircraft and it was old and looked like it was about to fall down. It had a big screen at the front of the cabin and we were sat at the back of the cabin (couldn't see the screen). Panicked as tickets only arrived 3 days prior to departure. Plane was delayed on tarmac for an hour - although the plane had been at airport for several hours, by the time we boarded, the luggage still had not been loaded! The plane was unmarked, and once inside - old and grubby. The food service was extremely slow and we were given very little food!
