“No fuel”

Written on: 20/03/2015 by Tanya1961 (1 review written)

Has anyone ever paid for diesel and not got any from the pump. Went to large supermarket petrol station in Belfast this morning as there was 76 miles left before running out(I hate to let the red light come on). Paid £10.00 for diesel, for a Clio that will take it up to over 130 miles. But quickly noticed after leaving the mileage hadn't changed and the gauge needle hadn't moved either. When i contacted them they done a pump check (or so they said) and that there was no nothing wrong with it… Read Full Review

Apart from a serious fault, the pump wouldn't have incremented and you wouldn't have been have been charged any money at the till. And this would have been illegal as the pump is a calibrated measuring device. Any further concerns should be (have been) taken up with trading standards.

In reality, its likely that the £10.00 you put in wasn't enough to register with the electronic fuel sender in the car once it had reached a low level. This has happened with me on both my own and a work VW Caddy. A little extra fuel and the gauge will mysteriously jump up to the correct level. Annoying because you have no idea what the real state of play is.

“Confused and costly”

Written on: 13/03/2015 by Arnavu112 (1 review written)

Has anyone else had £2 removed from their bank account after buying fuel in tesco? They take the actual amount owed £20 then an additional £2. Now the £2 doesn't actually go from your account but will show as pending for a few days , not a problem if you've got spare cash but causes a huge problem if your bank won't pay a direct debit payment because of it . I enquired in my bank and was told this is definitely what's happening… Read Full Review

Were you using the pay at pump service with your card? If so, it could be because they were checking you had some funds in order to pay first. I've never used pay at pump, nor heard of the service doing this before, nor seen a £2 charge being used. But this way of checking a card really exists and is good for credit is used by a lot of service providers before the real billing amount is drawn. The last one I saw on my card was for Microsoft services, who always use a £1 'fee' which is never drawn completely.

“Very poor quality!”

Written on: 15/02/2015 by Camren63 (1 review written)

Stop using Tesco's petrol! You're not saving any money, In fact it will cost you more in the long run. I had my car serviced in Oct 2014. This week my emission light came on! My car has been running very sluggish lately! So I read reviews on Corsa cars regarding emission light coming on, and a lot of comments were saying not to use Tesco or Adsa fuel!. I went to Tesco's and bought Radex, which ironically is half price £2, then went Esso and filled my car up and added half a bottle of Radex. I… Read Full Review

“Tesco Octal Way Swindon”

Written on: 21/01/2015 by stubuck1 (1 review written)

Major problems with my van after filling up with approx 65 litres of diesel from Tesco in Swindon.Fuel contamination light came on after 12 miles, ended with van being recovered from M4 at rush hour after engine cut out in middle lane overtaking lorry. Tesco customer service was non existent, and they denied all responsibility for the problem. My van has full service history , low milage and has always been maintained correctly. Very disappointed with this supermarket giants response… Read Full Review

“poor petrol value”

Written on: 15/08/2014 by Ciera (1 review written)

I only have to travel 14 miles to work every day from home. However, it seems to be using a lot of petrol. I have put in over £70 worth of petrol over the last three weeks. as my car is only a 1.1 litre engine, I find that £30 usually fills it. But when I go to Tesco, it only fills it half way. It seems to be running out so quickly and costing me a fortune. I have had the car checked for any problems and it doesn't need new spark plugs. So it has finally dawned on me that it is… Read Full Review

“Possible Dirty fuel from Tescos”

Written on: 25/03/2014 by bkwills (1 review written)

My cars never run the same on Tescos fuel... I have just had to replace the fuel filter in my wifes car after filling it with Tescos fuel. I normally use Shell in my car with no problem, if I use Tescos it always never runs smooth. The filling station is Hartlepool Tescos. I have registered a complaint and I am waiting a response… Read Full Review

“Diesel giving very low mpg”

Written on: 27/01/2014 by Jucinta (1 review written)

I have recently been using Colchester Hythe Tesco filling station . My 2012 kia eco usually gives a minimum of 49mpg round town and 65plus on long journeys. Recently it has been showing 38 mpg round town & 55 on long trips. I have taken it twice to the dealership who could find no fault. Then after filling it up at a non Tesco station the mpg suddenly returned to normal. Make of this what you will, but I won't be going back to Tesco… Read Full Review

“DO NOT BUY”

Written on: 27/12/2013 by DrTeaCup (1 review written)

I bought fuel from Tesco and my motorbike kept cutting out when it would start. I took it to a garage and was told there was a problem with the fuel, so i had the fuel drained, refilled from shell and my bike has ran perfect ever since. i have reported this matter to Tesco, they deny all responsibility for the fault with the fuel and were not helpful at all so if you are going to buy fuel say away from Tesco. It may be cheap but I will not be buying it again that's for sure… Read Full Review

good or maybe not !, to see i'm not alone, 2 days ago filled motorbike up at Tesco hythe, Colchester, within 10 miles engine started misfiring and would not tick over smoothly, being a 750 twin cylinder any fuel/fuel delivery problems quickly become apparent, given this event and historical evidence with Tesco fuels i will avoid them in future as will my family. I have drained tank and replaced with normal unleaded and bike running perfectly again

“Tesco fuel ripped me off 100 miles on full tank!!!!!!!”

Written on: 17/10/2013

Got the habit to let my fuel light lights up then fill up the tank to max, zero the trip counter reading. Fill up on 28 August at Tesco Express Winchmore Hill, I was surprised my car did 70 miles and the indicator already touch first 3/4 bar when I should do 100 miles to reach the Point where it was. Thought I'll do a servicing, but no change. What I've notice in my exhaust is throwing out black condense water instead of clear water. Don't go for the club card, just go for value for money… Read Full Review

“5p per litre off is a confidence trick!”

Written on: 17/08/2013 by arenicola (1 review written)

Spending £50 in store to get 5p a litre of fuel sounds good until you see that their base price is 3p a litre than independent garages less than 2 miles away. Tesco claim to compete on price within a 3 mile radius of their fuel stations. This is a barefaced lie!… Read Full Review

“using 5p off Tesco voucher for petrol station/shop”

Written on: 24/07/2013 by B27346 (2 reviews written)

This is regarding the 5p per litre off voucher that i was given at tescos after spending enough to be given it. to what i thought was my delight, i went to a petrol garage on the Barleymow roundabout and the man inside asked me for my clubcard. i said, "oh, is this a tescos garage?" he said "yes, as of 3 weeks ago" and took my clubcard to swipe through. i thought, great, now i know where i can use the 5p off petrol vouchers that i get from tesco. so i went there when my tank was empty and… Read Full Review

“Worst filling station for time wasters BATFORD, HARPENDEN”

Written on: 13/06/2013 by Rscratcher (1 review written)

The staff are usually very helpful but I waited nearly half an hour due to a car that parked in front of the pump, took no petrol then spent ages doing her shopping. I and everyone behind me were trapped for 25 minutes. I have since noticed that others are regularly doing this even though there are parking spaces and a public car park on the other side of the road. The staff seem disinterested in the problem if you complain. Avoid it if you can… Read Full Review

That's a pretty common problem there. It's always a woman (fact) and usually in a 4x4 or MPV (fact). It's totally selfish behaviour - they believe the world revolves around them - and they are supremely arrogant, vulgar and rude if you challenge them.
