4 Years ago I owned a Renault clio 1.2 that until I filled up at my local Tesco garage had had 0 issues at all. Flew through its services & MOTS fine, started everytime no trouble and was a great run around while at uni. Usually I filled up at the shell garage in town but was running low so quickly popped into the Tesco close by. Within a few miles of leaving the forecourt my engine management light came on and the car just shut down. Engine wouldn't even turn over. After calling out the... (read more)

I have always used Tesco fuel in all 4 of our vehicles, my van suffered water in the diesel in march 2013 and cost me just under £100 to have a new fuel filter fitted and lines blown out at my local garage. I wrote to Tesco customer services and enclosed all the details and had a reply which just fobbed me off by saying that they had not had any other complaints, but there seems there are plenty on here. I have always used Tescos diesel on my Peugeot 207 since I had the vehicle from new. On 28/3/13 the vehicles engine management light came on and I took it to the dealer. Fault was contanminated fuel requiring a new pump and the system drained for the cost of £251.98. Apparantly it is well known among car dealers that supermarket fuel does not contain additives which is why its cheaper. Tescos Customer Services have been contacted but even though I can prove that I have only ever used their... (read more)

If the problem hits my injectors im looking at abill of over £1000. Again my fuel was like \"MUD\" but not thick just very dark. Contacted Tesco and a sample has been sent for testing. Just waiting on a response.(I wont be holding my breath) Apparently they have there own stamp on the fuel so will know if its theres or not. My problem is that I have been told that no one else has had any issues or complaints. My car is an Audi A4 Avant 2.0TDI 2007. It has always been fully maintained with a full service history. (so not the cars fault).
If you could offer any more light on this I would be gratefull.
Best Regards,
Kevin

One changes it's price every other day. Asda keep their price the same (within half mile of Tesco's). Tesco;s put it up in the hope Asda will. When Asda don't increase their price, Tesco's then put their price back down - due to losing customers.

Ensuring the fuel goes into the tank is 100% your responsibility. If you fail to stop the fuel in time you should be fined for spraying hazardous chemicals. The garage has no obligation to provide a pump cut-off system or to ensure it works at any time. Be more careful in future.
