    Good Points: fast handle very well


    Bad Points: gear box ?
    back archers rust

    I have owned many Vauxhall Astra GTE's and I am currently rebuilding another one, I am a die hard vx astra mk2 fan and will not part with my baby, cant wait till I finish her.
    If you have the chance to get one it will be the most fun you will ever have.

    The Vauxhall Astra mk 2 is a very good handing nice car, love the clocks, seats hold you well and good driveing postion, plus put a red top in or a C20 LET in and you have fun.

    I've had my gte 16v for 4 years now, I'll never sell it, it keeps costing me money but I love it, like other guy said its the type-r of yesteryear, every time I take it out I get more stares than driving a fancy BMW or similar, and it will never die I have loads of spares!

    Own a 300bhp Audi S4 and the GTE still feels fast and responsive love the Valvers. Just need some speedlines!

    All in all a good car at the moment I am driving the the Astra 2.2 SRi. Love it to bits. I have always been a fan of Vauxhall.

    my wife has a champion every thing as standard , the only reason is because she never drives it and it has been in the back of the garage for 4 years . the car is about to get fully restored so there is no rust on the arches .

    In terms of performance for your money, you won't find a better car then the Vauxhall MK 2 Astra GTE 16v. The champion version though is a lot rarer to find as they made only 500, especially a standard one. If you do find one, then think yourself lucky! These cars go on if looked after, its just a shame many of them have been abused, or dismantaled for there precious engine, and other goodies. The GTE 16v is slowly becoming rarer to find (standard)
