Good Points: Friendly staff and nice setting
Bad Points: The food!!
General comments: On entering the restaurant the staff were very friendly and the setting was relaxed and ambient. Sadly the food was a massive let down, as this was the worst meal I have had in a very long time. I thought the food was completely tastless, especially the red mullet, that bizarrely came served in a piece of tin foil. The chocolate sauce on the dessert had an awful after taste, that was not pleasant in the slightest. The best part about the food was the bread!! I was hugely disappointed, as this restaurant had come highly recommended and for the price we paid I expected so much more. An off night for the chef perhaps? Who knows, but I wont be rushing back anytime soon.

I have visited Bonaparte's on several occassions, from lunch to Saturday evening and most recently on Christmas Day. I have to agree the resturant is indeed a little piece of France landed in Hornchurch.
The staff are always helpful and the owner seems to be always around to welcome and chat to customers, a real rustic charm. I have waited too long on occassions for service, but the food has always been very good...and an occassional drink on the house helps pass the time!
If you were in Franc ...

It's refreshing to find a genuine French family run restaurant thriving amidst a great number of the usual chain type eateries. The food here is always excellent, as is the service. The owner really understands French wine, and his chef really understands French Cuisine. Both traditional and modern. The Bonaparte restaurant in Hornchurch has a wonderful atmosphere, enhanced by original French art pieces and genuine French staff.

I was a bit apprehensive about the Bonaparte restaurant in Hornchurch, as I have never tried French food before. I've got to say, I was incredibly surprised at how well presented the place was. It made me feel like I was actually in France. The service was impeccable! The menu was a bit reserved; mainly fish, beef and lamb, but they know what they are doing with it. I started off with the smoked salmon with toast, which according to my companion was the best bit of salmon she had ever tried. She ...
