Good Points: open-source, very extensible, syntax highlighing, easily optimized for individual preferences, easily extended to encompass different software languages.

Bad Points: not WYSIWIG. Not FREE (as in beer).

General comments: CodeGenie 3.08 is just a shareware programmer's editor, but it's my favorite editor for just about everything. (except WYSIWIG HTML). Its very well-designed and easy to use. It handles syntax-highlighting, color printing, regular expressions, bookmarks, code-fragment library, autocomplete, autosave, and so on.

It's VERY VERY extensible. It has a hex editor, color selector, dec-hex converter, handles other scripting languages easily and is easily modified to suit your preferences, whoever you are. :)

It used to be free, but costs $27 now.
