We were worried, having read some negative reports from the website but we were happily reassured. Reception staff were informative and our chalet turned out to be just fine. It was clean and the neighbours were thankfully very quiet. The chalet we had, although basic, was not disappointing. We would come back again and would be happy to reommend a stay. (read more)

I booked a caravan for myself, partner, daughter, son-in-law, son and my two small grandchildren for last week. I paid almost £500 including insurance to stay in a Penzance caravan. Me and my partner could not get down until Sunday and my daughter and the rest of the family arrived on the Saturday. The caravan had not been cleaned - the place stank of smoke (still on the sunday when we arrived) the furnishing was ripped, windows were filthy and mouldy, the toilet and sinks had not been... We have just returned from a week in a Penzance caravan. It was my fourth visit to Mullion holiday park. We will not go back. We travelled as a party of four with a dog. The general standards of cleanliness and maintenance of the accommodation and Weststar park itself are very, very poor. After checking the caravan we discovered that the toilets, shower, cooker, crockery, in fact almost everything was well below the standards that we would expect and after discussing this with a number of queuing complainants, we found that we were not alone. Really felt the need to make comments regarding Carle from Derbyshires review of Weststar holiday park. I have just returned from a week stay (my first stay there). My accomodation was a 6 berth caravan and I was very, very pleased at how spotless clean it was upon arrival (and I am extremely fussy when it comes to the cleanliness of things like toilets, showers and kitchens etc) The caravan was of high standards and very modern. All equipement ie crockery, kettle and pans etc was in excellent condition and everything that you can think of was supplied, the kitchen was not basic at all.
The pub/restaurant had BOTH smoking and non smoking areas, each area was of equal size. The Stargate Club also had smoking and non smoking areas, which I found was more aimed at non smokers. If you were a smoker you could not sit near the stage area as that was non smoking. The smoking area seemed to be just the middle area of the room.
My children - aged 10 and nearly 13 (who by the way are not delinquents or terrorists - very offensive in the light of recent events to label a child) loved the indoor and outdoor pool. I never during the whole week found any children rude, offensive or causing trouble. At every visit to the pool I found 2-3 lifeguards on duty and they were very vigilant and friendly.
This area of Cornwall is a fantastic and beautiful part of the country and anyone who stays at Weststar and do not venture out to visit the amazing beaches and places of interest are really missing out. We visisted Kynance Cove, Poldhu Beach, Mullion Cove, St Michaels Mount and Lands End. Your holiday is what you make of it - think negative and you get negative and there is by far more positives than negative at Weststar. I would recommend it to my friends and family.
Written on: 05/09/2005
I'm very please you had a great time at Weststar!!! We did take a positive stance whilst there and spent most of our time visiting the fantastic coves nearby. I notice you didn't mention Church Cove.... the most fantastic beach I've ever seen!

Our expectations were obviously set too high for this type of holiday camp. We'll stick to Trevella near Crantock, when next in Cornwall. Or, Center Parcs... Their standards suit us better.
Written on: 05/09/2005
No, I never made it to Church Cove, although I will do next year! I fell instantly in love with Kynance Cove as soon as I saw the amazing view walking down to the cove. It was well worth the terrible climb back up after a fantastic day lazing on the beach and swimming in the clear blue sea!

Not everyone has the same taste in holidays, I like to just chill out and lay on the beach! My kids also love swimming in the sea and spending all day on the beach or in the swimming pools. Good luck with your next holiday.

Be warned this is not HAVEN, but a smaller family run group, but all said and done is still good value for the younger family.
