“"Best Car we Have"”

★★★★☆

written by Evanssa304 on 26/09/2020

I think it's an amazing car. With soft-touch plastics, all LED lights, etc it's premium cabin standard makes it look more impressive. Electronic Brake Parking, and several other features that make my driving more fun and relaxed. This car belongs to my dad.

“Performance is disappointing.”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 16/03/2015

Some of the 2015 Honda CRVs have a "condition" wherein the vehicle vibrates when you accelerate. I happen to have one with the "condition", anyway that's what Honda calls it. Honda has known about this issue and as of yet has not figured a way to fix it. Seems to me it would be easy to compare those cars with the issue and those without, and see what's different, or who manufactured the bad parts. Honda has assured me this condition is not a safety concern, makes you wonder. No happy with the dealings with Honda respresentative.

“RELAXING DRIVE”

★★★★★

written by thiek2 on 28/11/2011

Traded in my TT QUATRO 225 as needed more space. Went for top of the range diesel 2007 for my wife as it had all the options onboard and we are very pleased with our choice. Contacted Honda about a small blemish in the paint (car 4 years old) on the tailgate and they took the car in and had the tailgate resprayed, doing a fantastic job, at no cost to me. THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE, as the car was not even purchased through them but an independent dealer. Thought i would miss the TT but am enjoying the very relaxed drive of the Honda. Would i recommend? yes definitely ,it returns approx.40/42mpg on motorways and around 32/34 around town. I will need to replace my second car shortly and will definitely be thinking of another CRV even a previous model. We run CRV's at work everyone that takes them out mention what a good drive the are, and very solid and refined. .

“We agonised for months over spending £22k on a car,...”

★★★★★

written by pg1954 on 18/10/2010

We agonised for months over spending £22k on a car, but finally decided in Mar 2010 to get the Honda CR-V 2.0 ES Auto. Thus far we've been delighted with the decision. It really is very comfortable and easy to drive - considerably better than our top-of-the-range Scenics, of which we'd had several, and which were proving unreliable after 3 years.
Fuel economy: after 4k miles, I tried driving super-gently at 55mph for an hour, and managed to average 42mpg. After that, settled down to a normal 75mph holiday journey of 280m and averaged 35mpg. Around home it's more like 32mpg.It might be marginally underpowered, but for the most part one doesn't need to race away - only when putting the foot down at 60 or pulling away uphill does it feel a trifle sluggish.
Very nicely finished interior with the half leather Alcantara upholstery, great for people with large behinds, but could be slightly more "sculpted" for those of us with leaner frames. Great stereo sound with USB key to save carrying all those CDs around. Would have liked it to have fixed roof rails (lengthwise) like so many SUVs: and the rear seats fold, but can't be removed: but these are small quibbles. This is my best car ever. I actually look forward to going out just because it means firing up the CR-V!

written by Caroann on 08/06/2010

We love our CRV. It has been absolutely reliable although wish it did more to the gallon with current prices. During the snow earlier this year my husband had to borrow it on several occasions as his Mercedes C Class could not make it off the drive let alone down the road. The Honda took on the snow with no problem at all. Has large boot (we have a large dog) and plenty of leg room (again more than the Mercedes!) in the back for the 2 boys. I have the 2.2 petrol Sport model and it cruises the motorway like a dream. I also like the fact that I feel slightly less conspicuous on the school run where I am dwarfed by all the enormous and fairly ridiculous and expensive chelsea tractors.

“Honda CR-V 2002, Petrol. Having driven Hondas for many...”

★★★★☆

written by Chazzmeister on 07/01/2010

Honda CR-V 2002, Petrol. Having driven Hondas for many years this was a move up from an HR-V which, although a great little car, was just a bit too small and only had 3 doors. The CR-V is a great crossover vehicle and will never take the place of a full blown Landrover but what I asked myself was 'How often do I actaully need real mud plugging 4WD?' my answer was 'can't remember the last time I did, if ever'... Despite living out in the Norfolk (UK) countryside and with more than a little winter snow (this year at least) I can honestly say the the CR-V has never let me down or caused me any concern. Don't expect masses of miles to the gallon/litre as mid 30's is a good yardstick (mine is a petrol model but I couldn't justify the massive cost hike for a diesel and am still well in pocket after more than 25k miles). These cars are wonderful for long journeys and waft along at 85mph all day (yes I know about the 70mph National Speed Limit but 85 is just keeping up with traffic on motorways nowadays). On a run I get 330 - 350 miles to 40 litres of ordinary unleaded and I'm normally quite well loaded down. I am certain that it is physically possible to fully pack a CR-V boot but, with the 60/40 split rear seats I've never been able to (brought a garden bench more than 6' long back from London and the chap who made it confidently shook his head and told me that it would never fit - he went strangely quiet when it slid in, the rear door closed and I set off merrily for Norfolk). Roof rack weight capacity is a slight limitation with a maximum of 40kg on genuine roof bars (and DO get the genuine ones or at least Thule - cheap ones represent false economy).I regularly tow a 4m Avon Searider RIB boat with a 50hp outboard and dive gear with no difficulty although I have fitted Grayston coil spring assistors (£20 the pair) to stop the rear bottoming out with the extra nose weight of the trailer - a cheap and totally satisfactory solution to a costly spring uprating alternative. Reliability has always been Honda's strong suit and this model is no different - a chain driven rather belt driven engine, 150bhp, fantastic V-Tec performance and torque from nearly nowhere together with 12,500 mile service intervals make this a car that will just keep going and going. Performance is strong rather than exhilarating with masses of torque and oomph as soon as the VTec kicks in at around 3k rpm, all the way up to the red line over 7k (revving is something that this engine loves to do but it's not really needed beyond 5-5.5k and you WILL notice drop in fuel economy). I recently had a front oxygen sensor failure (the first fault in 2 years and 25k miles) and was quoted in excess of £250 for supply and fitting but sourced the proper part through a very helpful supplier called HGL Motors and the whole job (with fitting locally) came to £80. This is the case with a lot of Honda parts - patterns are available and, while I would always fit genuine and certified service items, some pattern parts are genuinely OK and much much cheaper. Do I like it? - I love it, Would I have another? Oh yes! An interesting byproduct of the slightly anodyne looks is that there is much less aggression shown towards a CR-V than there is to the 'real' Chelsea Tractor models. Also it is the most pedestrian friendly vehicle in its' class - there are some crash test videos from MIRA and similar on Youtube and if you watch them you'll feel wonderfully reassured. This car will take you almost anywhere in comfort and with minimum fuss...I can't say fairer than that :-)

We brought the 2.2 diesel CRV Executive to replace our diesel Freelander and i can honestly say they are like chalk and cheese, the Landy felt agricultural compared to the refined CRV,weve had no problems with the honda in 3 years and 36000 miles at all,to sum it up,great car.

Well done Honda. The crv is a pleasure to own and to drive. Built well and feels safe. A lot of thought has gone into where intrumentation is situated, and all round vison, very smooth drive.

★★★★★

written by tonyker on 07/08/2008

I had a Honda Accord from new in the 1980s & it was great. I've had a diesel CR-V for 2 yrs and its good, but not awe-inspiring. Not being a boy racer, I'm more interested in reliability and utility, & this CR-V is certainly reliable! Plenty of room in the boot & for back-seat passengers. Driving position is comfortable, cruise useful on long trips if the road is fairly clear. Fuel consumption average - I get about 37/38 mpg. Rear door with spare attached is quite heavy - especially for smaller folk. I'd have liked rather better storage pockets, etc in the front as the glove-box is small & there's nowhere much to put CDs apart from the box under the pax seat - which is virtually unreachable to the driver if you're on the road. Niggles are small, when offset against Honda build quality, so overall I'm pleased with my CR-V.

It feels like an expensive car, very refined.
Great car, fantastic on the road manners, when it finally gets moving its quite fiery through its mid range if you keep the revs high can outsprint some of the fastest in mid range.
Not too bad off road either but its no trail blazer just be careful think and it will get you there. I like the cars image I think Honda are actually looking like quality cars throughout there range.

written by on 15/12/2007

The CRV is basically a jacked up estate car, if you want a high driving position, and a large boot coupled with good legroom its ideal, if you want to drive up snowdon forget it. But it is a Honda, so very little street cred, but also very little trouble, the engine is the bullet proof IVTEC, or the not so bullet proof diesel.

overall very pleased with the car, ideal family transport, and same emissions band as a mondeo so no hassle from tree huggers.
