“476k and still going.”

Written on: 09/02/2014

Can't recommend enough. Cheap to run. Reliable and economical. A basic van but how many out there have had over 400k out of theirs? No major problems new transmission at 300K. All in all a great buy . Just going to buy the same again when this one eventually dies. Still running very well at the time ofthis review… Read Full Review

IF ID TAKEN NOTICE OF PEOPLE IVE NEVER MET ON THE INTERNET ID HAVE AVOIDED THIS VAN AND OTHER GREAT VEHICLES.
THE VIVARO FROM MY 3 YEARS OWNERSHIP AS A CARPENTER HAS BEEN 100% RELIABLE, IVE NEVER BEEN OFF WORK BECAUSE OF THIS VAN.
ITS COMFY, IT IS PRACTICAL ENOUGH FOR MY NEEDS.
IT LOOKS GREAT AND I LOOK FORWARD TO EVERY DRIVE.
MINE IS NOW APPROACHING 9 YRS OLD AND HAS NO RUST, STILL GLEAMING IN WHITE, LOVE IT TO BITS.
MAKE YOUR OWN MIND UP..
Read a vw van review, costs more looks like a lot less van and will cost as much to look after long term....

I had my 1.9cdti 5 years and to be fair it has been quite good needed a MAF unit, wheel bearing, anti roll bar rubbers and 2 track road ends over 30000 miles. Would I buy another? No I would get a VW transporter the vivaro is poorly made and feels worn out at 135000 miles… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/09/2013 by moley551 (1 review written)

I had this van from new in march 2012, now done 28000 miles. Frankly can't wait to get rid of it. It's a shame really it looks nice and is nice to drive but for me lots of stupid design faults, you get a sense that this van's design stage nobody asked for impute from everyday users. You see lots of Vivaro's with damage on the side simple reason is the mirrors have got to be the the worst "Design" ever for two reasons (1) The split between the upper mirror and lower blind spot mirror mean you… Read Full Review

“New vauxhall Vivaro”

Written on: 02/05/2013 by harrison111 (1 review written)

Hi all my friend purchased a Vauxhall Vivaro on a 12 reg from new and he has had nothing but trouble with it, Gearbox faults Alarm issues and breaking down, its been in the Garage at least 25 times at Vauxhall and they do repair it but they will not replace it with another Van so if you are a builder and you are relying on one of these then my advice is to stay well away and get a Mercedes vito or VW transporter like I have done. Vauxhall offer a lifetime warranty but you could get a life time… Read Full Review

Bought VIVARO in 2005 from vauxhall with 27'000 on the clock, powerful & carries weight well, looks as though the gearbox is to refined for the van at 67'000 6 years later on hearing a change to the gear motions i subsequently had the bearings changed in the box and new clutch fitted cost £1200 (good price) some charge up to £3000, about two year ago my steering pump went i suppose this might be expected but i now need another as when sitting with engine on it is idle making it hard to park… Read Full Review

I too had the problem with alarm going off in the middle of the night. I turned out to be one of the screw that holds down the drivers side step had gone through the wiring to the cab light that passes under the step. Mine has been fine since the dealer found the fault, took them a while to find it though.

Vauxhall vivaro sportive 2.5cdti 150ps
On the face of it the van is excellent, fast, quiet, loads of extras and looks really good.

Have owned the van from new and have done 32000 miles. In this time the van has put itself in limp home mode a total of 7 times. Each time the van needs an oil and filter change due to 'poor oil quality'. Apparently this is due to it needing to regenerate but regen light has never been on!

The Vauxhall dealer thinks there is something wrong with it but Vauxhall… Read Full Review

I have been experiencing exactly the same problems, service light comes on first approx 3k miles after oil change/service and Van then goes into limp home mode, which Vauxhall say needs another oil change £230!!!! and its my driving!! After much hastle vauxhall finally agreed to pay on 2 previous occassions, it has happened again today, but what happens when warranty runs out.

Take them to Court under the Sales of Goods Act. Tell them you are doing that and claiming consequential losses. They will soon get it sorted. I did this and ended up having a full refund on a faulty two year old car.

A tip from the trade, Change the oil yourself using a genuine manufacturers oil filter and a very high quality oil such as Millers fully synthetic in the correct grade, only use top grade diesel DO NOT USE SUPERMARKET GRADE DIESEL do all this before it goes into limp mode/light comes on. Diesel wash down the bores on the 2.5L CONTAMINATES THE OIL! not so much of a problem on 1.9L and all should be well. If and its a big if it goes again then its most probably a engine bay wiring loom intermitant fault (renault) have problems finding this

I second this. I saved hard for 5 years and decided to buy a 52 plate vivaro which was my first van and a sign to myself that i must be doing well in business, a reward if you like. I paid £3000 with 122000 miles on the clock, 6month later the gearbox broke. I had read about gearbox issues with the vivaro and believed that this would never happen, the chances... but it did and was £1500 lighter with a new box. 6 months later the 2nd flaw with my vivaro struck and the turbo blew and trashed the engine and that was the end of that.
The truth is that the rumours are true and they can happen to you too regardless of mileage and age
