We arrived at airport (BWI) early. Arrived and gate just to be told there is a delay. So we endured the late takeoff just to pull away from the gate and hear the captain say he would be taking us back to gate as the plane is missing a part. They kept us on plane for over an hour, no additional communication just to book us with Delta. I paid for a flight $500.00 to have my Daughter fly from Alabama to Florida to Visit me for a short 4 day visit. On my daughters 3rd day she got very very sick, She was so sick I Had to take her to the emergency room. She was way to sick to fly that day so I rebooked her flight the following morning. "All you can do is show up and hope they can sit your family together." Exact words told to me as I tried to arrange seat assignments a week before our trip, on an airline that requires seat assigments. Oh, wait, I can pay $44 a seat extra if I want to guarantee us sitting together. Hate this airline, always have. They never fail to disappoint. We were really hesitant about flying with US Airways after reading so many negative reviews. We have flown with all the major airlines from the UK (Virgin, BA, American, United, Delta) but US Airways was superior to American, Delta, and United. We flew from LHR to MCO, via Philadelphia, the flights were on time and suprise, suprise the cabin crew were well turned out, professional, friendly and helpful. US Airways Cheats Its Customers April 10, 2013 On a recent five and one half hour flight from Phoenix to Honolulu on February 22, 2013, US Airways sat my wife and I in Row 7, seat D & E. The plane was a Boeing 757. Row 7 is directly forward of the midplane lavatory. Therefore, our seats were unable to recline. I called to request a refund after a ticket I purchased dropped $70 less than 2 days after purchase. The customer service rep's response was she had just filled up her gas tank only to see it for 11 cents cheaper elsewhere. When I told her that was not the same thing she became very rude. Going to destination: 3 hour delay, four hour lay over and last minute gate change. Going home: delay to next day, when checking in I had to "self check-in" as I was not first class. First time I ever had to do this. Under normal cirumstances I would not mind, but this was the straw that broke the camels back. Poorest customer service. We left out of charlotte on flight 3286 going to st.louis at 10:50 on april 1st 2013. The two stewardess that were on the flight were absolutely amazing and very pleasent. They were polite and very courteous. Wish I would have gotten there names. The flight was excellent as well. (read more)

The most uncomfortable planes in the industry. No entertainment whatsoever. Food for purchase runs always runs out. The nastiest gate employees I've ever seen, always forcing people to gate check their carry-ons due to their plane's tiny overhead storage. ..nuff said (read more)

It is amazing how many people rant about USAirways (or any airline) delays for mechanical or weather reasons. How unfair to denigrate an airline for its maintenance of planes causing delays, and complaining about weather related delays is ludicrous. By the way, major airlines do not give hotel vouchers for missed flights except for reasons of mechanical malfunctions. I have flown on USAirways, as well as the major US airlines: they're certainly as good or even better than Delta's diffident... (read more)

I never rated anything worst in any way . As there will mistakes happening by any human. But more than twice is no more a mistake. I have continuous flight cancelations since two days was traveling from clt to white plains . There is no headsup of cancellation , just they would ask customers to wait by delaying for more than 2 hrs and they tell it is cancelled. Arrived at PHX at 6 am. we were boarded on time but after 3 postponements 1 1/2 hrs due to repairs, we deplaned. Were routed to another flight wh/ also needed repairs [ I have never been on a flight delayed for repairs let alone 2 w/in the space of 2 hours] and eventually left on our original flight 3 hrs behind schedule. My wife and I got a little lost on the way to the airport and missed our bag check-in time by 4 minutes (while trying to leave Burlington, VT). The two women that we dealt with at the check-in desk had zero empathy for our situation and seemed happily unhelpful. Our questions on resolving our situation was met with "Nope. This is my second and final time flying with US Airways. Both trips Where I've used this airline have ended up with extended delays! If you want to get anywhere on-time, DO NOT go with US Airways. Plane leaving KC MO was 40 mins late leaving ( had a 35 min turnaround in Charlotte) BUT was able to make it to the connecting flight in time. BUT they had already moved me to a later flight.. Missed our contacting flight in Washington DC by mere Minutes, actually saw our planes sitting there with door open, but they would not take us to it because we missed the shuttle. This caused us to take the next flight at 12:45, which got canceled, so they booked us on what they called the next flight at 9 pm, that is almost 11 hours!!!!!!!!! We had a similar situation. We booked several months in advance and found a perfect flight time. My wife is a teacher and could not get out till 3:15 at the earliest. Well I randomly check one day and the flight has been moved to 15 minutes earlier. Normally 15 min is no big deal but in this case it is huge. Our trip to New York had to be cancelled due to hurricane Sandy, so we were given a voucher. However it has to used by December 20th in order to get the full cost. The problem is the church event we were scheduled to attend won't be rescheduling until next year. My husband had mechanical issues on both trips to and from his destination. When I went to pick up my husband to take home he wasn't on that flight, when I asked the people said many diffent things nothing about mechanical issues and he will be late and on a different plain. We booked a trip to Jamaica for a wedding and used US Airways. Due to a mechanical error in Milwaukee, we missed our connecting flight in Charlotte. Needless to say they didn't have any other flights to Jamaica that day, so we were stuck in Charlotte overnight. I was traveling back on a USAirways flight from Boston to Charlotte from visiting my grandmother in Boston. I was pregnant and had a toddler at home and an important work meeting the next day. Four tickets were purchased. Two were able to fly as sick child prevented child and other parent from flying. US AIRWAYS penalized $175 per ticket. Next time, we'll bring the sick child aboard and spread his illness. Passengers, please consider US AIRWAYS policies before making a reservation. I must be the exception, because after reading a lot of reviews, I have no complaints about USAIRWAYS. In Jan. 2012 I booked a flight for two to Glasgow Scotland to depart on 9-3-12. What a dysfunctional airlines, started my vacation out of Nashville Tn. August 23 2012 to Cancun Mexico no early morning flight. We arrived at dublin airport at 6am for our 9.30am flight to charlotte to be told'you do know your plane hasn't left america yet and we don't know when itl arrive'. Aside from what happened on our flight from Munich to New York (which was also a disaster) nothing i have ever experienced can top our flight back: We were delayed by 11 hours (from 6:30 pm to 5:30 am) most of which was spent on the plane at Philadelphia Airport because the airline was too cheap to spring for hotel rooms. I lost my nephew unexpectedly June 2012 and had to change my daughter's flight. It cost me $390.00 difference in airfare and $150.00 to change the flight. Who takes advantage of people in situations like this? US Airways does. US Airways sends you through unnecessary changes to provide documentation that will never be sufficient enough versus simply deny the berevement claim. Horrible! First time traveling with a 10 month old and being 5 months pregnant. I had to wait 20 minutes in a extremely hot hallway for my stroller with my infant wanting to get down and crawl around. Holding a squirmy baby that doesn't want to be held, not fun! My family and I flew to Portland via New York with US Airways - the flight delayed by four hours, then when we arrived we had missed the connection to Portland. No space on any other flight means we had to wait 2 days for a service with seats for all the family together. We had a car rental booked in Portland, thankfully car rental firm CarJet rebooked us. Flying out of Philadephia, we sat on the tarmac for 2 hours to be told that we were going back to the gate because we were running low on fuel. My son complained and was escorted out of the plane because the pilot said he was not letting fly on his plane.
