Good Points: Great range of beaches, pumping nightlife, very hot sunny days - perfect for tanning, but still cool with sea breezes, nudist beaches (if you're into that!)
Bad Points: beaches are mainly rocky or concrete
General comments: Hvar Island is just one of a number of beatiful islands off the coast of Croatia. Ravaged by war 10 years ago, the tourist industry has rapidly picked itself up, and the coast has been largely unspoiled by the tourist trade in the last 10 years, making now the perfect time to go.
There's a pumping bar nightlife, but also plenty of quiet restaurants selling the finest wines from the region, and delicacies of the Dalmatian area.
Language is not a problem, as enough people speak English to make Croatian unnecessary.
