Alton Riding School Derbyshire are in an easy to find location and the teachers know what they are doing. The ponies and horses are lovely and have a great temperment. all the horses and ponies are different so you get more experiece riding and handling a horse or pony. the lessons are cheap. It is great everyone looks after you and makes you feel welcome and you have great opportunities infront of your eyes when you walk through the gate- Read Guest's review (90 words)

Ive been going to alton riding school for about 3 years now and ii love it. There are a large range of horses from plodders to advanced horses.I read a review few down saying that the leaders are rubbish but that problem has been solved now..we know have a leaders list that we have to stick by and we get the horse's ready about 15 mins before. they have 2 shows each year.1-Alton open show which is held at basset barn fields and 2-Ashover show which is held in the main part of ashover village. Alton Riding school has been my sanctuary for over 4 years now. There is a wide variation of horses and ponies to choose from and they are all good temped and well looked after. Lessons are a variety of lots of things and it is so much fun! :) the riding instructors are so nice and every one is pleasent. There are 2 shows a year, the Alton show - held in the top field where various events take place. Trophies and Rosettes are involved. Also there is the Ashover show, this is similar but larger. ...- Read misskittyqueen's review (159 words)

All the horses are well looked after and seem to be very happy doing what they do. The range of horses available ranges from about 11hh to 16.2hh,with different horses available for different levels of rider. All the horses are able to do different things, like hack out and do jumping competitions, which is nice for them as they're not just doing school work all the time. They have quite a few different instructors to choose from and you can ride 6 days a week- Read curious 2's review (103 words)

I learned to ride here and it was that good. Istayed for 4 year going every week, however I now own my own horse and don't keep her there so I don't see anyone anymore.
The lessons are great and are very good value for the amount you learn and every one is so nice!
I highly recommend this riding school!- Read Guest's review (75 words)

I learn't to ride at this riding school...and after 2years riding onece a week and buying my own horse from here, I have to say that Alton riding school is one of the best value for money places around. Not only is the tuition great, but the horses are fantastic as well! From quiet plodders, to the more exciting advanced horses. There are also "own a pony days" where kids can choose a horse/pony to look after as their own for a day..this event include an hour's lesson, an hour of horse stable ma ...- Read Guest's review (303 words and 1 comment)

I took my daughter there to learn to ride in the beginner's lessons. Liked that fact they had an indoor school & most of the instructors were really encouraging & the 'games' session at the end of the lesson is fun.
The main problems were that none of the helpers wanted to lead children who needed it so lessons were constantly late while they hunted for volunteers (I ended up doing it myself) and they never had enough short stirrup leathers & small irons for the children.
Overall, my daughter ...- Read Guest's review (105 words and 1 comment)
