I would like to get across how good the suit is but I feel I should warn others about how bad my 'recommend a friend' experience has been. I bought the suit as part of the recommend a friend deal with my ushers and 2 best men and Next have messed up at every turn. They have failed to apply discounts and incorrectly opened 'cash' instead of 'credit' accounts meaning the £20 credits cannot be applied (even though I was advised this was not an issue). Placed an order and paid over the phone as the online service wouldn't accept my payment! Was told I couldn't have the order delivered to store for free so I'd have to pay £3.99 delivery! Told them I wasn't happy to pay that so they kindly waived the delivery fee but 4 days later I still haven't received the order! I bought some jeans for a child whose 4yrs he wore them twice they fell in a hole at the knee.Ihave not washed them and when I took them back to fargate sheffield she said it was wear and tear they were 13pounds.I was told that they will not do anything about it.I used Next a lot I have two pair of the same jeans it has not happened to them I will never use Next AGAIN iF THATS HOW THEY TREAT THERE CUSTOMERS. Have never had such a poor online shopping experience, I received a next gift card for my birthday so decided to use the card online but I wish I hadn't' bothered I went to check out and found myself signing up for a next buy now pay later account which I didn't t ask for or want. Then as I thought my order had gone through I get an email from next to say it hasn't gone through and for me to ring a number which no doubt has probably costed me 5p a minute I was on the phone for 12 minutes... Basically our oven blew up, we looked around and Next Electrical were the most competitive so we ordered one. We had to pay an extortionate price of £35 for next day delivery. So we wait.....no delivery, we call them....they had forgotten to send our order to the depo hence no delivery! Re-ordered for following day (2 days waiting in as they only give you a 4 hour slot) eventually was delivered, later than time given! Better warn all the people who want to order from the US website, your package may be stopped by Fedex and asked to provide your SSN and other information before it can be sent to you. It happened to me and I called NEXT to ask for a return because I don't want to give out my SSN for an order. Well, the agent told me when it is in US, it's my own business and out of control. I have used Next Directory for some time, handy and convenient in the past. Until recently it had been about a year since I had used them. I bought an e voucher for a friend this Sunday from Next online. On the site while buying it said "fast and easy". I even received a confirmation from next. I went happily to the party only to get a voicemail from Next that they need to check some details before sending the voucher. I was at Lakeside looking around for some cute and feminine house essentials and finishing touches and saw a 'Next Homeware' and WOW, what a shop. Really nice layout and merchandise. My friend used to work in Next so I'm a little bias, but I honestly can't fault them. Whenever I'm in town I tend to go in there to pick up something or another - and you can find Next clothes in my workwear, my chillaxing clobber and my glad rags (in fact I'd say that Next clothes make up about 30% of my wardrobe). With the summer Olympics coming, Next had a Team GB top that I thought was fab. I think it's good quality and I'm impressed with the huge offering of Team GB products that they have. I had the shirt delivered and it arrived the next day. The only thing I don't like is the whole mandatory Next account thing. Upon my visit to NEXT I felt that I was constantly seeing promotional sales signs which suggested to me that perhaps the clothes they sell are cheap. However what I did enjoy was the music they played it made the whole shopping experience there a whole lot more enjoyable. Also I liked how the store was so clean, tidy and organized. I ordered some shorts and a top from Next Online a couple of days ago. Firstly, I nearly ended up with a Directory credit account which I didn't want, but luckily I noticed that before it happened. However, the clothes came quickly, but when I was at work I got an email to say that they had been signed for and delivered. Seeing as no one was at home, this was curious. I buy from next regularly, for myself my partner and my baby daughter. I love the womans and baby clOthes. Although the quality is not there . As my daughters now at the stage where she gets messy all the time meaning clothes are in the wash on a daily basis. Her clOthes have got small holes in. Next's Gloucester store holds a fairly large stock of items at mostly slightly discounted prices. It's quite a way from the city centre so for me, and for many others, it's a special trip if I want to visit. The biggest problem with this store is that the changing rooms are always closed. Next sell a lot of jumpers, jeans and other items which are relatively high value and have a high chance of not fitting. There's no "one size fits all" for these kinds of items, so I think buying one... (read more)

I have used online directory for a while. I prefer buying stuff on the Internet but NEXT customer service as regards returning items is terrible. If they collect an item you are returning you have to check that they credited your account as they occasionally fail to do that. I ordered a large mirror but it wasn't quite what I wanted so I tried having it collected within 7 days. They failed to collected it 4 times. Next is the type of shop mainly aimed for older people, as a Teenager I don't often find too many nice clothing as it is mainly work style clothing and that of the older generation, however they do have nice shorts, shirts and jeans where the sizing is pretty accurate and the price is ok for the quality of the items. I have bought quite a few items in Next. I find their clothes to be of very decent quality and not too expensive. The staff are generally fairly helpful when you need them but they don't hassle you too much, which can put me off sometimes.
The last item I bought there was a pair of smart trousers for work - they fit very well and have not dulled in the wash.
I would recommend next to other people as a good shop to get both everyday and fairly smart items.

I firstly, do not shop here for myself, I find adult clothes here to be bland, dull and a bit mature even matron - like for me. However childrens clothes (nothing much for older children 5+) are of excellent quality and very smart, unlike many other brands of childrens and baby clothes they wash up well without bobbling, etc. However, the childrens footwear sizing is very small. I really like Next because their clothes never seem to wear out or lose their colour and shape, especially compared to other high street stores. Their directory offers a good service too, I just wish their sizes were a little more standard as I always have to order two sizes and then send one back as I don't know which one will fit. Agree with others that sizing is all over the place, whether tops, trousers, shoes, children's or otherwise. Avoid jersey tops which shrink badly. Children's shoe sizes especially are totally way out from the norm.
Sale days, yes, are a total manic mess.
My local store has nonchalent, young staff (Dumfries).
Very little stocked in this store in kids' section unless you are under 5.
Website is a nightmare to navigate now they've renewed it. Searching just reveals totally what you don't want.

I have always found Next Directory to be very efficient with the goods delivered very swiftly with few errors. The returns process I have also found quick especially if you use the courier. They sometimes say an item will be out of stock and may come in 3-4 weeks but usually goods appear much more quickly than that, overall a good service, although I do feel the range of girls' clothing has gone downhill in the last couple of directories. All in all, I think that Next is quite a good shop for clothing (I haven't bought any house-hold items yet, but am told that they're of a good quality). Most of their clothing is rather plain, so it's more of a casual/workwear type shop. I probably wouldn't get my clubbing gear from them! If, however, you want a pack of t-shirts or shirt for work, then this is an ideal place. Having said that, their underwear and shoes can be very glam and pretty.
My only real gripe (apart from pricing)...

I totally agree with you about their sizing. I'm a size 8, but Next size 8's are massive on me! I have to buy a size 6. I'm not complaining, but they never seem to get it right! I love their work suits, but their tops and casual clothing is just horrendous. It is unstylish and I wouldn't be seen dead in them. Their style never seems to change. It's the same thing year after year, and the only thing they change are the colours. Shoes, bags and accessories are okay though.

Next on the high street is a very good clothing and accessory shop. Even though some of the items seem pricey, you do actually get what you pay for, as 99.9% of clothes are very good quality. The Next directory service is OK, but a lot of what you want to order over the phone is usually out of stock and will take one to two weeks for delivery. It is quicker to get it from the shop. Although Next has served me well over the years, since they opened their stores in fact, I have largely been satisfied with the service- they accommodate size 6 individuals, which is great! However, the Next Directory, I have found to be quiet dreadful. Orders are sometimes inaccurate and returning items is by far the worst process with incorrect invoicing and "lost returns" which result in re-submitting the original paperwork. Next and Next Directory I have to say would be a staple for any work or casual wardrobe.
I especially like their rugby tops which are prettily designed and seem of decent quality.
Suits are also nice, having said that though, I don't expect hem of trousers to fall apart after only 2 wears!!
Pretty cashmere mix (I think) beaded cardigans (I bought 2, black and teal) but popper fastening on 1 came apart after only 1 or 2 wears! not good enough in my opinion. They charge too much for...

I originally saw a green gillet priced at £54.99 but all they had were size 10 so I asked when they would get more, I was told the delivery would be in on the Wednesday, but couldn't guarantee they would be on it. So I rang that afternoon to be told it had not been unpacked, so I asked if they could ring me, the assistant said no.

I have shopped with NEXT for years its always had good range and the jeans and pants seem to fit my shape much better than other stores. Thank you for the information which compounds my serious worries of buying on line as we do not wish to disclose our banking details to anybody, we tend to pay by either cash or cheque. However at Next they operate this weird system where you cannot order on their internet even if you go in store and offer to pay by cash. Most other stores, Debenhams and Marks and Spencer for example are happy for you to order on their internet in store and pay cash. Apparently they use a gift card number to access the system, great pity Next can't figure out an overide. The thing is I feel we are being penalised because we do not wish to use cards-freedom of choice and all that.
