I have been riding at Stonerigg for around 6 years now. I'd previously ridden at another riding school, and found Stonerigg to be much more professional! The lesson prices are reasonable and the riding instructors are experienced and helpful. I also attend the Pony Club days and Saddle Club on Saturdays which I feel has helped to prepare me for having my own horse. The staff are lovely, and always up for a laugh and I seriously couldn't imagine going anywhere else! I wouldn't be where I am... (read more)

I rode at stonerigg for about 6/7 years. To be honest i didnt learn a great deal. I bearly jumped which has now affected me due to having my own pony. There isnt many horses or staff. Some staff are very unplesent! Very expensive. Have children working there, not many adults. I wish i'd learned to ride some where else! very poor riding school. (read more)

I recently went with a friend to watch her ride, I was pretty amazed at they didn't really learn much for the amount of money they are paying. I ride somewhere else and for agood 6 years. Even I picked out some things that the teacher didn't. Also I don't think the horses have enough bedding, maybe that's a personal oppinion or maybe I didn't see right and I know it is expensive. Also it lacks cleanliness.however I thought there set up was good and there facilities. But you don't see any of... (read more)

I highly reccomend Stonerigg Riding School near Great Orton. The horses are lovely and the staff are very helpful and welcoming. It is quite reasonably priced and they teach a variety of skills from hacking out to jumping, games and dressage. The teachers are lovely and it is a small, family run business which makes it better as it is not all about the money as other bigger places in carlisle such as blackdyke are. There are only a few bad points. These were that they do close sometimes due... (read more)

The horses and ponies are lovely and kind and extremely good at being ridden. They are looked after extremely well as well. The staff are great and down to earth.you learn LOADS in there lessons as well as having fun. Its great for complete beginners on the lead rein or experianced riders who want to jump and do complicated exercises. You also get to hack out in the country which lots of schools dont let you do.Its a pony club centre and hold pony club days in the holidays where you have a... Stonerigg Riding Centre in Cumbria is a great place to learn! They always teach you valuable things and always start from where you need to start. You are always put in a group to suit you and no matter how old you are (4 to 444), you are welcome. All the horses and ponies are brilliant and really help you along. You will love every lesson!! The Stonerigg Riding Centre in Cumbria in my opinion is fab. I have been taking lessons for nearly two years, along with my 12 year old son who has come on in leaps and bounds. Now my 4 year old has started lessons and he too loves it. Stonerigg Riding Centre has given myself and my sons the confidence to one day be really great riders. For now, we just love learning with them, they make it fun and interesting. I have tried other riding schools in my area and none come close. (read more)

I disagree because when I went to stonerigg the staff went out of there way to be helpful and kind. The horses were amazing and the lessons you are taught are really worthwhile. You are taught a great deal of useful riding skills.
I have also been to blackdyke and I thought that it was truly rubbish and the ponies are overworked. Its all about the money there.
Stonerigg horses get all sundays and mondays off and enjoy the work that they do in my opinion.
