Good Points: They always try to match you to the most suitable horse or pony so that you will get the most out of your lessons and hacks! They have many fantastic horses and ponies available to ride for different levels of riders, from complete beginers to advanced riders jumping 4ft jumps in the 2 acre jumping paddock (that can also be used for great outdoor lessons)!
Bad Points: They do have a couple of ponies that tend to be not quite as lively as others and some times can be quite naughty (but never dangerous), but that's great for people wanting a bit more of a challage!
General comments: I highly recommend people to come to Holmescales Riding Centre because the staff are always friendly and remember everyones name, (unlike some riding schools!), and they have over 25 excellent horses and ponies with fantastic riding facilities avalible and there's also now a pony club for those wanting to learn more about looking after horses (mucking out stables, cleaning horses, earning badges, etc).
They offer free use of riding hats, provided by the school, and riding sticks if your horse or pony won't go! Although I find its better to own your own when you know your definitely going to stick at it! They let a sensible number of people ride in the school at one time (no more than 7-9) so you can enjoy your lesson as fully as posible, they also offer private lessons for those wanting 1 on 1 tuition although in my experience, you don't need to be learning any faster than you do already in the group lessons. As I have only been riding for 11 months and I'm already doing more advanced stuff than people I know from other riding schools that have been going nearly three years! But they don't rush you at Holmescales, they wait until you're ready to move on and that way you feel happier and learn quicker!
With the high standards of teaching you're sure to enjoy Holmescalles Riding Centre whatever age, ability or even weight you are!

This riding school is fantastic!! They have taught me to ride since I was 5 years old.
The staff at Holmescales Riding Centre in Cumbria are very friendly, and they have over 25 wonderful horses and ponies.

I have ridden at Holmescales in Cumbria on numerous occaisions and have always felt that I have received full value for money and full satisfaction. The staff are really helpful and friendly and I always felt right at home - the atmosphere is fantastic. The hacks and lessons ae equally enjoyable, whether you are galloping across an open field on one of the centre's fantastic horses, or tackling that course of jumps you never thought you'd manage. I would thoroughly recommend this fantastic scho ...

I have ridden at Holmescales Riding Centre whilst on holiday in Cumbria several times. The staff are very friendly and match you carefully to an appropriate horse. The hacks go through beautiful countryside and cater to all abilities. I don't know what the lessons are like as I haven't been on one.
