Good Points: Accurate, cheap, rifled steel barrel, durable, a reasonably nice gun, good build quality

Bad Points: not very powerful, a bit plasticy, heavy (personally a bad point, others may disagree)

General comments: The Norica 83 was my first air pistol. I got this about three years ago, before I got into CO2 pistols.

This gun is quite difficult to get hold of. your local gunsmith might sell one or two for about £70 (about $105 for the yankees out there).

When I first started firing it I was amazed at it's accuracy. With 5/6 shots I would group at about 3 or 4 inches at 10 metres, which is incredible for a pistol. It owes it's accuracy to it's long, high-quality, rifled steel barrel. I could fire this baby A LOT better if it weighed less, but that's mainly due to the steel barrel making it weigh about 1.5 Kg.

After three years of childlike glee I've NEVER had a misfire or have pellets jam. A very reliable gun.

In terms of power, if you're into that sort of thing, it pings the pells at 120 m/s (about 390 fps) which, in turn, leaves you with 2.7 lbs/ft -
not very powerful for a pre-compressed pistol.

All-in-all: A good gun that will last long, not very powerful but accurate and at the right price.
