I love the way that with the Samsung A300 you can get ringtones for free and its simple !! The phone looks great and does everything a phone should i would so much rather be seen with this than a bulky old nokia that is basically a gameboy with ringtones :P (sorry nokias but its true) (read more)

The stylish Samsung A300 is a great looking , great working mobile phone. It is sophisticated but you can personolise it with free ringtones. The sleek design fit into the palm of your hand and it is simple to use. there are useful things like an alarm calculator calender etc. definantly worth the money i would say. Although there is one bad point , there are no games. some people would say this is a bad thing but others see it as being more sophisticated , using the phone for more practical... (read more)

At first i was dying to get this phone and then my dad bought it. It looked nice, great a flip phone but there is nothing on it. The novelty runs out faster than you would think. There are hardly any spaces for your own ringtones, and then they go to fast. There are no games to mess with when you get bored. The only great thing about it is it is small. There are no great features or anything like that. There is wap but how you use that i don't know!! They have brought out a great new phone... (read more)

The looks, and idea for the phone are excellent, certain features such as the wap taking you back to the page you last went to before disconnecting.
In almost a year i have been unable to find any ringtones for it. if anyone can help please email me at a41mabbasi@hotmail.com.
if their was one thing that lets the fone down then it is, its battery life. it is very poor. i use my fone hardly ever, and even when i do, i only use it for a maximum of 5 minutes a day, and i have to charge it up...

I have an a300, so does my girlfriend and 2 of my mates. We all got them unlocked at different places. Within a month, 3 of them have died. Mine went from orange onto O2 PAYG and its died. they keep coming up with "Insert SIM card". After reverse engineering the phone at work and checking the software out, this is the main cause. There are so many in-built hardware to software checksums, that unlocking the phone dramatically reduces the shelf life. Im going to get hold of a flash box and try... (read more)

I love the look of the A300 and also the size.
When i bought this phone it was going to replace my Nokia 3310 but it has now become my 2nd phone.(reserved for when i go out as its small enough to fit in my bag.
The reason being is i send a lot of text messages and reading everyones reviews i cannot believe nobody finds sending a text message on this phone annoying. My nokia automatically transfers a whole word to the next line if it is too long but this phone doesn't so you end up with half...

i can see you dont like nokias ,,,,nokias have such lonnnnnnggggg battery life not like this phone had 1 for 1 week couldnt wait to get rid off it ...casing on the phone scraches like crazy and makes the phone look old and worn out ...nokias are so good with all software and user friendly ...thank god for nokias intervention!!!!

The Samsung A300 is a very solid performer. The screen is not the best nor is it packed full with toys but for making and receving phone calls it is fantastic. This is a great phone for anyone who whants something that is easy to use, looks snazzy does the basic job well. (read more)

ive had this phone for the past 6 months now apart from it not having any games on it and a short battery life, the samsung a300 is a good quality mobile phone. one of the best features is being able to text message while making or reciving a call. the amount of times i have dropped it is unbeliveable, the thing doesnt seem to break, scratch yeah maybe and thats another downer to it. You cant change the fasia on it so you have to put up with the same old cover all the time. All in all id say... (read more)

I had this A300 phone for the last year and quite simply couldn't wait to upgrade back to Nokia. Quite frankly it is the worst phone that I've had by far. Loss of signal is commonplace and the battery life is ridiculous. Nuff said!! (read more)

I got this phone for my birthday a couple of years ago and I had a nokia first because I thought that was the best but with my new phone I think that it is excellent. The caller group images are cool and i think it is really handy and just slips into your pocket. The only bad point about the phone is that for my age group (15) is that he doesn't have any games only on the internet which with my server is really expensive and it is hard to find ringtones to compose on your phone (read more)

All in all this Samsung A300 mobile phone is designed for the smaller race of Humans as I am quite large my big fingers I have problems with the small buttons. However I like the fact that this little phone can go most places in a jacket or pockets of other sort. The colours are attractive but not up to modern technology any longer but if your after a basic phone for a new user to the mobile world then this would be ideal. Not too many functions but enough to get you by. (read more)

I have had this phone now for just over a year and with my hand on my heart, I can easily say, it truly is an exceptionaly reliable unit. There is one simple drawback and the reason why I am going to upgrade it. It has the worst text engine known to man. Scrolling through the predictive, to caps to lowercase with no learn facility like the Nokias is just rediculous and so many times I have come close to throwing it at the nearest wall after taking over 10 secs to spell a slightly unusual... I've had this phone for a year now and about to upgrade, I thought now would be a good time to review it as I've got over the "wow I have a new phone period".
The phone is on the whole good, it is not big but not too small, once opened up you can use the buttons easily, even with my big hands.
The window on the front is a great feature and if i was to get a "clam" style phone again, I would like a phone with the same feature.

Had this Samsung A300 mobile phone as a gift so can't really get rid of it. As a phone it does what it needs to but not a lot more. Very disapointed with the ring tones - even the ones you can make/edit yourself (only 2?). Hunted for ages for tones to enter but only found 1 - The entertainer, I WILL keep looking. It is better (by far) than the old Motorolla brick I had. If you do get one I hope it was for calls only. Seen some complaints about battery life but quite happy with that... (read more)

I was really looking forward to a change from a Nokia however I was really disappointed with the Samsung A300 quite possibly THE worst phone on the market today. Of course it does look good and I have looked after it but the silver paint has peeled off, the flip is loose, it doesn't connect all the time, poor reproduction i.e. people can hear you but you can't hear them, Microphone in a silly place at the side of the phone where you put your hand and last but not least battery life is... If you want a phone that looks lovely but are not too worried about the functionality this is the phone for you, however if you want to use it for communication purposes sorry but this is not the one. Sound quality is very poor, Signal reception is poor, you can only store ten messages, the vibrate alert is weak and texting could be better, it has predictive text but is limited because the dictionary cannot be added to in the way Nokia's can. I've had this phone now for a year and am just about to trade it for a Sagem X-5. Maybe I've been spoiled in the past, being a Nokia user for a few years, but I just don't like this phone. Why? Well I'll start with good points. Flip phones are great - this is my first and I do like flipping it shut to end a call! :-) Sad and childish, but it's quite cool isn't it?! When I first got this phone, I was a little doubtful, but a friend said it was ok so I bit the bullet. From about the third day, I realised that I had made a grave mistake: the interface is extrememly slow, and the software has no facilities at all that are worth mentioning. Whenever there's a chance of there being no reception, this phone grabs it with both hands. I agree with earlier posts that this phone has a short battery life - having been a nokia user you really can tell the difference. Also it is very easy to scratch and break the outside screen. If you are storing it in a bag/pocket and it is raining the screen will break and it isn't worthwhile repairing it. The ringtones leave a lot to be desired. Not as reliable in every way as a Nokia (read more)

When I got this Samsung A300 mobile phone I was amazed at how stunning this phone looked. When the outside LCD screen is lit up blue it looks even better. Another good point of the phone is it diminutive size and it light weight with the slim battery. Battery life with the slim battery isnt brilliant, but it is still enough for a few days without a charge.
At first I thought the menu's were not a intuitive as a Nokia's, but give it time and you will become used to them.

This is quite a good phone if you are after something small enough to carry about all day. Just a press of a button and you have various menus at your finger tips. The battery life is not that great but as you get 2 batteries, well that shouldn't be a big issue. My main problem with this phone is being unable to change the ring tones. Would agree, have had the a300 for 8 months and its constantly back and forth to samsung trying to get the IR to work (this was the main reason I bought the phone so I can remote into my servers from anywhere with my Jornada720, means I can have a life and get away for the weekend). Samsung say its fixed and when I get it back, amazingly its no different apart from scratches in different places, maybe they are just sending me other peoples broken ones and just keep circualting them till people get bored and go elsewhere as I have now. Other issues with the phone are the screen, due to inadequate padding when the screen is shut unless you close it carefully the screen will actually hit the keyboard and break the screen, this is a common probelem. Further the sound is far too feeble, you cant hear it ring in your pocket or in the pub (wont even mention ringtones, games etc). Another fault is when you assign caller id ringtones, as soon as you turn off the phone it resets to the default ringtone, very pants. I could go on and on but like the guy above all I can say is 'what a load of pants'!!, the only thing its good for is posing in front of your mates and making the odd call (has to be odd with the battery life), and before anyone writes in saying thats all you need a phone for can I just say that maybe thats all you need it for but when the advertise a phones capabilities, charge you a LOT of money for them and when you get it they dont work then I think weve got every reason to call them useless. (I refer to the IR linkup which looking at several other forums is very common, i.e. if you ever have tried to use it then you know it doesnt work. Im gonna stop now, feel better for that rant!!!!! will go back to my little padded cell now

I've always had Nokia's and this A300 mobile phone from Samsung is the first time that I've tried another manufacturer. I do like this phone but maybe I'm just not used to the new menus as they do seem awkward and it seems to take a lot of effort sometimes to get to simple functions. I don't like having to choose the SMS setting preset every time I send a message - maybe it's only 1 more step but it adds up. When I first set eyes on this tiny phone I wanted it. The Samsung SGH-A300 is the most beautiful piece of mobile equipment I've seen. It's sexy, stylish and screams class. I love it, it's a real ladies phone, no offence meant to the gents who love it too. Mind you, it's a bit thick to slip into your jeans pocket, shirt or jacket sure but tight jeans...phew :-) (read more)

Not helpful - i own a samsung a300 and whilst it looks good it is very poor on signal and recieving reliability, i use a phone for business and not to play games on, i have had mobiles since they were introduced, and around the size of a new mini cooper? so i have had lots of time with them. sorry guys the A300 ain't to hot?

I loved the Samsung A300 mobile phone from the moment i saw it and when i got my own it beat the hell out of the sony j6 that i had (sorry sony but true). I think that if you are looking for an economical phone that is small the this is your phone (although ericsson do some nice phones now as well). (read more)

I ordered my A300 last week and was really impressed. It looks good. The buttons are a bit small but you could get used to it. Doesn't have any games!!! Really disappointed because I had to send it back, the signal was really poor and just kept cutting out. Have gone back to the old faithful, Nokia (read more)

This Samsung SGH-A300 mobile phone is amazing. Created in the spirit of the motorola v-series, it picks up where they left off and takes the mini-phone baton to a whole new level. Gone is the problem of not being able to see who is calling before you answer, gone is the problematic at best, simply unusable at worse menu systems...and in it's place is a stylish handset which is packed with features.
