“Great fun but dont go too far.”

★★★☆☆

written by grocott2964 on 08/12/2011

I brought mine second hand in 2007 it had covered 6000 miles it was in good nick. The looks are great like a motorcycle beach buggy. As with all 125s the fuel and tax is cheap but be aware the TW125 is not as good on fuel as a normal commuter like a Honda cg125 because of the tyre size. The tyres slow the bike down a lot and because of that you do have to cane it. If you stick to 30-40mph roads its fine but go on a duel carriage way and it is out of it's depth I think I seen 60ish mph once but more like 55mph. Really it needs a 250cc engine. The tank range is good for about 100miles and after a while you seem to be riding at full power all the time problem is the engine is quite harsh and would only be a matter of time before it exploded. The headlight is poor as is the build quality rust patches show up over night. Great thing about this bike though is if it snows it does not phase the bike at all. My friend had a Honda XR125 and my other Friend had a KMX125 and even though the two other bikes were faster my bike could go up any incline no matter how slippery. If you like the looks get one just make sure it does'nt live out side as it will rust and if not someone will nick it.

“Great bike for the money”

★★★★☆

written by on 10/09/2011

I just bought it recently but I'm really thrilled about that. The bike is unbelievably easy to handle, forgives a lot of mistakes due to it's low weight and the best is -it just looks cool. It's that kind of bike that you want to ride every day, just jump on it and go. Weak points: It's not very comfortable for longer trips, after 200 kilometers you just feel like letting it there and going by foot. The problem are the engine vibrations at higher speeds (above 70km/h) don't bother me much at the begginning but are increasingly annoying. I had a bigger bike before, so I gues I'm a little spoiled now.

Maybe you're right and maybe It's because It is my first bike, however I travelled a lot with the TW 125 ( from Italy to Turkey through balcans and back and from Italy to Finland and back ) and I have to say I really liked her vibrations. It shakes your brain and your soul and at the end of the day you're really much more relaxed...;-)However It's lack of power is quite tiring for overtakes. Also to do 400 km you'll take the all day..So you've to appreciate slow riding more than an harleyst..;-)

Had this for over a month after my CBT. Never lets me down. I have had bike experience elswhere before migrating to the UK. Big fat rear tyre makes the bike standing out among other enrty level bikes such as CG125 (no offence foe CG lovers though!) Very stable in cornering. I filled up with premium patrol one day and my best mate put in super patrol upgrader in the tank (He didn't tell me that!) The next morning on my way to work I was always the first one to pull away from the traffic lights and she was flying (I even yelled WTF ! ! ! !) Recommended for others. Down side is EXHAUST replacement (£300 Quid! !! ) from GPR exhaust and that's the only place you can buy a replacement ones, Anyway Good Luck !!

“Only had my TW125 for 6 days and I love it already!...”

Only had my TW125 for 6 days and I love it already! Its well built and it is solid. Not the fastest bike in the world but it seems to have a lot of exceleration to keep up with the traffic nicely on local roads which Im happy about that but the top end isnt that fast, but if you want a fast bike get a sports. Ive gone from a 400cc sports down to this but I love this more out of the two! I did have a few minor problems on the second day of owning. Unfortunately I broke down and the AA helped me get to the local mortorcycle garage. I collected it next day and all its was was a dirty carb and the float was sticking. It also looked like the previous owner had let himself or a mate loose on the mechanics of the bike as it had little things wrong with it like the gear lever was on upside down so wouldnt go in gear properly. I dont blame the bike at all and after spending £85 to sort out these niggley little things the bike is running superb. I do however blame the wallyish amatuer mechanic that was let loose on it. Ive had a number of bikes and really rate this as one of the best Ive owned. Comfortable to ride, good fun and well built. Lovely little bike all in all.

I love this bike and will not get rid of it until its unrideable it is an expencive bike to run but well worth it, i have drove over bike's in my time and this one is the best of all. you can get aprox 90miles to the tank which cost approx 6-8pound (full price's a bit dodge these days) the back tyre is brill the amount of time's i have come off my over bikes for silly mistakes but this one is like your glued to the road its brill.

I only had the bike for three months, due the constant cut-outs...I failed my motorcycle CBT because of the bad prep work from the dealer (I even complained to the Yamaha Head Office about the dealers crappy overall level of service), so I am not able to write a very good rewiew of this machine.

Great bike, feels safe, thanks to the chunky tyres, I love trail bikes but most seat heights are too high for me being 5ft 3, but this is just perfect, I sold mine last year to buy something with a little more power, but Ive regretted it ever since! ... Wicked bike, but could do with more va va vroom!

A great beginners bike. Stable due to its half road/half offroad nature. Its large profile is great for a beginner who is getting used to riding the roads on a motorcycle for the first time and getting used to car drivers.

Not really suitable if you need to do a lot of 60mph riding.

A small correction. If you keep your chain oiled (as i have just found out you need to), it goes a little quicker!

My tw is very good, 100km/h, last year I drive more than 6000km in the city with no problems. You must oil the chain almost every 2 or 3 days. Maybe lift ccm on 200.

I love this bike ever since I bought it but the lack of power is a problem at top end. I have put in a new plug and adjusted valve gaps but still getting popping and almost back firing and really struggles to pull after getting out of 1st going through the gears. I have checked the carb and no bits inside and the membrane is not split and the jets are clean. What should I do? I am at my wits end.
