Used to go regularly in the 70s last went in 2007 and was impressed by it once again. Went on 12th July 2010 and found the burgers had changed. The half pounders were made in a patty former instead of looking hand made. they were drier and much less juicy than they always were. Sad Dill pickles were soggy instead of crunchy.
The steaks however were right up there as ever. perfectly broiled, great taste and the meal was sizzling as it reached the table.Chips also sizzling as they arrived. The service was a little slow with one waitress only working but she did well. The table was sticky and I thought a good clean would help the place. The upstairs bar has long ago closed, sadly. Still worth a visit - I would go back. The cost was reasonable. The usual big three burger purveyors may continue to peddle their artery-clogging ordure at much lower prices and you can keep 'em. It has slipped a bit but is still an institution and must NOT sit on its laurels!!!.

The food is very nice and filling. You are always made welcome.Service is usually quick and even when its busy, they allow you to wait in the bar.Staff are friendly. I always look forward to visiting captain A's when im shopping in Norwich for a spot of lunch.I've never been disappointed with the service or the staff. The decoration maybe a little dated but I feel this gives the place its character.

It must have been 15 years since I last went to Captain America's - the decor has not changed at all and I like this. It has character and a style of it's own. The service was good. The burger was delicious - I had a deluxe quarter pounder with mountains of chips. The booking we made was for four - however it was only noted down as two, so it was lucky there was a spare booth - mistakes happen so never mind. This restaurant would not be good for groups of over four, as the booths seat a maximum of 4 people. Would definitely recommend. All our group had burgers and enjoyed these. I couldn't manage a dessert, but I had a quick taste of everyone else's, and they were yummie too!

I went there as a kid, when the only other burger bar was the Wimpy. I am pleased to report it was fantastic, and in all honestly Captain America's Hamburger Heaven in Norwich offer the best burger I have had in 20 years. Puts the likes of Fatso's to shame.
