“Bad service”

Written on: 19/05/2015 by crowey1995 (1 review written)

Clearly staff are not trained brilliantly, just went to the larger store in long stratton and my partner brought a scratch card and was asked for her ID and then she asked for mine. I then said you don't need mine and stated that I was not the one purchasing the scratch card nor have you seen any clear evidence that it was being purchased for me and stated the proxy sale policy (I work in retail) I don't mind showing my ID but being forced to when I know I'm in my right to refuse showing my ID… Read Full Review

Iammee's Response to crowey1995's Review

Written on: 29/05/2015

Coop staff are required to ask everyone who looks under 25 for ID. When in a pair/group, this includes those not physically paying for the product, whether it appears to be being purchased for them or not. Those are the rules.

“Clean, tidy store. Good selection. Fair prices. Friendly.”

Written on: 18/05/2015 by JonoClouds (3 reviews written)

Co-Op in Cotgrave, Notts. Plenty of choice, products are well displayed and the store is clean and well-lit. Radio was a bit intrusive. Miniature shopping trolleys, all brand new. Long sell-by dates on most items. No problems encountered with discounted items and multi-buys. Most prices are reasonable, a few items are expensive. However, this is a convenience store not a full-scale supermarket so one should expect slightly higher prices. Cashier was pleasant and helpful… Read Full Review

“Ridiculous!”

Written on: 16/05/2015 by Valeria277 (1 review written)

My mum and I headed to the Co-operative checkout along with all of our shopping, -at which she was refused to be served a bottle of wine! In case it was for me?! The staff at the till continued to refuse her the wine, even after I had offered to leave the shop. A kind man in the queue behind us offered to pay for the bottle along with his shopping, however this was still "not allowed"! Because I am under the age limit, my own mother (who is aged 50) was not allowed her wine. This was utterly… Read Full Review

“Staff training on the use of co-op gift coupons”

Written on: 09/05/2015 by johntaf (1 review written)

The George Street branch of the Pocklington, East Yorks co-op, are placing restrictions on the use of these pre-paid £1 coupons. These restrictions vary on how much you can spend with these coupons and when cash change is given. There is no indication of any restrictions on the coupon and they should be regarded as cash. The check-out can be embarassing when trying to explain to the cashier their error and keeping people waiting in the queue behind doubly so… Read Full Review

“EXPENSIVE, NO VALUE FOR MONEY”

Written on: 12/04/2015 by Dempsey1965 (1 review written)

I visited the Co Op in Southport Marshide yesterday and I saw some oranges from Greece. We go to Greece every summer for the last 12 years. We never had disgusting oranges, other fruit and vegetables that's why we call it Paradise on earth. However, these oranges which were in a net bag (I don't remember the price, probably £1.50 or £2.00. When we opened the bag all oranges seemed to be frozen and rotten. Why do you people in Co Op have to buy all the cheapest products and sell them to… Read Full Review

“disrespectful staff ”

Written on: 10/04/2015 by 414Bender (1 review written)

Staff are rude and disrespectful. Needd my receipt checked to see if I got the crips deal the have her turn her back and call me stupid. Then the guy that served me also was gossiping and agreeing with her. I've been coming to my local Co op for 5 years and never have ever been treated like this in my life. The two new girls (blond and brunette) are very very rude. The shop is a mess! Especially the milk and pastry section. Out of items on the floor in boxes and boxes. To get… Read Full Review

“rip of merchants”

Written on: 22/01/2015 by Maverickl179 (1 review written)

Food is over priced! By £2 at least compared to all other food stores. Reduced foods never go through the check out at the reduced price but the original price. Recipes are never given !! Only when asked... makes me wonder if it's so they cannot see how much they are scamming you for. Also their own branded food are not the weight that is says on the tin. Always a way some where with the Co. Op to rooker you some way or another.. I now refuse to buy anything from the Co. Operative… Read Full Review

“Discounts not given”

Written on: 21/01/2015

Whenever I shop in the Co-operative food store in Hawkwell, Essex, I do not automatically receive a discount on the products that clearly have been labelled with a reduced price. If you do not mention it they will charge you the full price! This happened at least at the last 6 occasions I went there. What is the point of reducing the prices at all if you just keep on asking customers for the full price!… Read Full Review

“Rude staff ”

Written on: 19/12/2014 by Tiggsy24 (1 review written)

Staff member in Swindon was grossly inappropriate in their behaviour. Stated I had made a record of their behaviour to share with others on the internet and was advised that would be inappropriate! Apparently, I should make a complaint to co-op! Based on some of the appalling reviews for this company, I imagine my complaint would have ended up in the bin! Avoid and use a company with a decent attitude towards its customers! … Read Full Review

“Donot take your children shopping in the co op.”

Written on: 27/11/2014 by Fischergr42 (1 review written)

Today I went into my local co op with my 18 year old disabled son, to buy some dog food, bread, a paper and some beer. The beer being a gift for a 50 year old, who tomorrow is clearing out my garage. I was told I could not buy the beer, because my son looked under age and had no ID, he had no ID because he was not buying anything. The Young person at the till, did not look at my sons face, he was unable to see it, my son being a dwarf was hidden behind a till. He looked at his hight and body… Read Full Review

“staff treat customers like children”

Written on: 21/11/2014 by baKlein62 (1 review written)

I have been shopping in the co-op in Thatcham for over a year. But recently they have started being OTT on id-ing customers. I shop in there over 5 times a week. But recently they have stayed asking me for ID for stupid things. I'm 29 years old, and got asked for ID for a scratcard. I wouldn't mind being asked, but they treat me like a child when they ask. It's like I don't deserve to be on their shop. To make it worse, I've been ID'd by the same person 3 days running. Its not like I look the… Read Full Review

“Charity money”

Written on: 23/10/2014 by Hullhc112 (1 review written)

I often shop in the hunts cross branch of co op. I often put my small change into the charity buckets and have often put into the Red Cross. A member of the team told me that the previous manager was moved store because he removed the charity money out of the Red Cross and put it into their local charity caters trust. I am disgusted in this as I choose to put my money in the Red Cross which is close to my heart. Why is this manager still working? Does the Red Cross know ? I will be ringing the… Read Full Review

“We just don't want your custom. ”

Written on: 21/08/2014 by GreeneyedGirl (2 reviews written)

Since taking over from Somerfield, the Co-op has run down the supermarket on Stenson Road Derby to such an extent that the impression is that they don't actually want customers. Their latest trick has left me stupified: they've stopped manning the checkouts! I don't mean that they've installed automated checkouts - that would be an improvement; no, they have simply stopped putting any staff on the checkouts at all. About two weeks out of every four an elderly lady comes in to man one till - at… Read Full Review

“Out of date food & high prices (Swindon) ”

Written on: 05/08/2014 by Alessandra147 (1 review written)

The Co-op in Cavendish Square Swindon is appalling , the veg is always in a poor state and the fruit is of a poor state aswell. But the biggest problem is out of date stock on the shelves! , there were biscuits there that had Januarys date on them! and other items that were way past the sell by date too , Sadly Co-Op prices are much higher than other supermarkets aswell. The Good point is The Staff are very friendly at the Cavendish shop though and always give a nice smile eventhough no doubt… Read Full Review
