“Poor Quality, Poor Choice, Expensive”

Written on: 28/04/2013

The coop are the only supermarket within a radius of a 3 hour drive (one way)and there are very few shops to get groceries from. So, we're held to ransom by what the coop has on its shelves, which more often than not isn't what we need. This is the only store that I've seen Grey bananas. The Organic Baked Beans used to be good and the tin full of beans. Now its only two thirds full but still the same price. Cereal choice is pitiful as are the selection of vegetables, specifically... “BEWARE-co-op in Sheffield closed without warning”

Written on: 06/04/2013

Our local and large co-op store has been sold (along with its staff!!!!!) without warning a couple of weeks ago. It has been progressively run down for a period of years whilst the co-op has paid its consultants, architects and solicitors to put in plans for it to be re-developed....then this happens..... A very loyal group of customers and staff alike have been shocked at their treatment by a company we thought were and advertise themselves as, working on ethical and just principles. It is... “Definitely the best supermarket”

Written on: 05/04/2013 by hcm160

Co-op Irlams O'Th Height in Salford is a great place to do the weekly shop or just pick up a few items. It is a larger than average Co-op which is usually very well stocked. The staff are friendly, helpful and polite and I like the ethical policies that make the Co-op unique. The prices are also becoming more competitive and the quality of food is generally excellent. My daughter bought some cakes recently and they were a day old! Another moan, the till often has one person serving customers when the shop is full. “Lovely staff, poor range and quality of products.”

Written on: 24/11/2012 by McClinton (1 review written)

I have no problems with staff the two small Co-ops near to me - they're always good-mannered and friendly. What drives me nuts is the lack of range in the shops and the empty spaces on the shelves. Maybe it's just my luck, but if I go in for garlic, they've run out of garlic. If I need mushrooms, there are no mushrooms. I went to the nearest Co-op for some 1% milk yesterday and they had none. I had to backtrack and go to the other, smaller Co-op further down the street, which had plenty of... (read more)

It should be company policy that whilst there is more than 2 people waiting a second member of staff should be on tills and so on. You may be a lovely lady but in all the coop supermarlets iv ever been in, youre deffinatly in the minority. All coops should be closed down and replaced with the likes of Asda or Morrisons.

What a rip off I have always known the Co-op charges astronomical prices for almost everything it sells. Since the co-op store in Ryde on the isle of Wight has opened the turover in Iceland (the only other food outlet in Ryde) must have doubled as the queues at Iceland have. People have abandoned this store in droves, firstly the prices in the Co-Op are ridiculously high, the staff are rude and the shelves are dirty. They are just so rude! Customer service is lost on this "We do everything and specialise in nothing" outfit. Their fairtrade marketing plays on the ignorance of generous customers - the growers are likely to still be out of pocket compared to the Coop's profits. The 'little' co-ops are ok but don't compete well with the larger supermarkets for value and price. Quality in some areas (fresh fruit/veg) is also lacking at times. Many other products (own-brand and others) are very good.

The Cooperative has unfortunately inherited a debt of over £800 owed to me by Somerfield Stores Ltd and it has still yet to pay this despite being ordered to do so by the County Court.
