Aldi have limited stock but some good quality items at low prices.
What lets them down ( based on 3 English stores) is their off hand customer service.
The main thing, which they pride themselves on but have got very wrong, is their check out procedure.
To save their time (not yours) they will not let you put items in a bag as you check them out but just slide them of the the edge of the counter and into your trolly often damaging them. You are then supposed to get them out of the trolley again and bag them up.
When I placed a box in my trolley for them to land in, they would not serve me unless I moved it! It made no difference that I can spend almost £2000 per year in their stores- they insisted that I put the shopping into the trolly and then go to a shelf a few feet away take it all out again and put it all into the box there!
The result was, I just left it for them to put back on the shelves and they lost my custom.

I bought an all in one microwave, grill and oven from Aldi for £78 in February 09, which lasted until August 09 before breaking down completely.

After ringing Aldi head office and being kept on hold for 40 minutes, they refused to repair or replace as I was unable to locate the original receipt, so this product is going in the bin. It's poor quality and their service falls short of what you would receive from Asda or bigger name retailers.

My best advice is - don't bother with Aldi ...

I used to shop at Aldis anywhere, mostly Stowmarket. Without my noticing, they introduced a ticket display system in their car park recently, monitored by an outfit called ParkingEye. I received a £40 penalty charge within seconds of walking into the store. I wrote to Aldi naively thinking there was a customer service department. No response after 6 weeks so far. Have written to Germany since. It's amazing that they don't see that they'll lose more business disenfranchising customers like ...

Good and bad. Excellent value --- dark chocolate, chutneys, frozen lightly dusted sole, orange juice, biscuits, kitchen goods (cloths, scourers and so on), spirits, German sausages, crisps, some bread products. Rubbish --- almost all their fruit and veg, so-called fresh flowers, bacon. So pick and choose, but Aldi is not a supermarket for a weekly shop.

Thought I would try Aldi photoservice instead of my usual Tesco. How disappointing. I requested 76 6 X 4 prints of my sisters wedding. I got 20 6 x 4 all the rest ranged from 3.5 x 4 to 6.5 x 4. Aldi wouldn't sort this out, so I ended up back at Tesco.

I really wish I could comment on ALDI - but alas, it's not possible. The reason? It has never come to Northern Ireland. They can use our country for supplying their food (ie., their chicken comes from Portadown) but we're not worthy enough to be their customers. I have repeatedly asked them when they are coming, only to be fobbed off. Still, it's their loss - they might need us sooner than they think...

Aldi have cheap and fair quality products-poor customer service - their work is easy but they can be unhelpful.
Weird items randomly in sale instead of decent stock variety.

Poor packing procedures at check out.

we shop at the chelmsford store and find the staff cheerful and helpful, of course you may have to queue at the checkout that's because its a popular store offering quality at sensible prices.

have been shopping at aldi for last 4 years on recommendation of a neighbour, and in turn have passed my views on to family and friends

I have just returned from the new Aldi store in Romford. After spending nearly an hour filling my trolley I queued at the checkout. The young man in front of me had one item and went to pay with a credit card and was told seemingly abruptly by the checkout girl that 'we only take debit cards'. He put his item to one side and told the girl he would come back with some money and left the store. The girl picked up his item and placed it in front of her and then sat there not saying anything. I ...

After visiting the Aldi Store at Catterick Garrison, I must say that I've never experienced anything like this particular check out girl. The store was fairly busy with only one person manning the tills, so they rang for another check out operator. Fine. I happened to be queuing with the original operator, had all my shopping arranged as neatly as possible as I had some chocolate and cakes I didn't want damaged. When it was my turn the girl grabbed everything as fast as she could, whacked it thr ...

i have been shopping in aldi now for some time and find it first class. the service is fast and friendly and if it gets busy they always open up another till to clear the queue. the quality of most the food is excellent. as with every supermarket you get to know what to avoid but i particularly like the cereal, sauces and laundry items. great value for money. for those who like time to pack their groceries then please shop elsewhere. this is not the place for you. i don't mind it at all packing ...

Where do I complain about Aldi's bushland reserve shiraz wine? I have been buying it for months now especially since they lowered the price to £2.99p per bottle. I have bought 2 bottles today from derby st store on checking bill I find charged £4.49p, they made a big splash when it was reduced but appear to have very quietly increased it again.

I think they should put as much publicity into telling people if it was an offer and when it reverts back to the original price. They do a ...

Just to let you know I have tried the online photo service from Aldi and would NOT recommend it to anyone. Although I am a fan of Aldi generally, I feel their photo service does not live up to their usual standard. Unless you download the software to your PC then I think the online service is rather unwieldy. Once I had downloaded the software (and registered 3 times for various aspects of the service) I then set about trying to make a photo book. The software for this kept freezing (I am runnin ...

I love to save a buck. Aldi leaves the name brands & some amenities to the other guys. We've found that of all the products sans 1 have met or exceeded our expectations!

Our local Aldi store at Caerphilly is a large attractive building and a pleasant place to shop. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the speed in which they check out your shopping make the staff at other supermarkets resemble lava lamps. First started using Aldi many years ago before they used barcodes and was amazed at their ability to remember the price of each item,I admit that I did check it myself with a calculator the first couple of occasions but soon gave up as they were always ...

Since I am diabetic,I and others were very disappointed when Aldi discontinued the Sweet Valley Diet Citro Zip lemon-lime drink.Another of my favorites was the Happy Farms crumbled Feta cheese that just disapearde at the Bethlehem,Pa store. I bought a Traveler Video camcorder for $99 at Aldi and have over 200 videos on Youtube using it to make Big Band videos as Victrolaman1.

At the Aldi checkout the staff process goods so quickly the customer can't pack the goods fast enough and there is no room for all the shopping at the end of the counter, it makes it very stressful right at the end. I will pay more for goods somewhere else just to avoid the hassle of the packing.

Now I know why they call it Aldi -- You have to wait ALLDAY to get served.
The cashier kept telling people behind my friend and I to come forward and be served first, though we had already allowed 3 customers to go before us, and there was no courtesy in even asking if we'd mind waiting. I am registered disabled, and my friend was also disabled, having had an operation to her leg, which I did inform the cashier of as she tried to rush us at the checkout. No help was offered at all. What's the p ...
