I wanted to order some modular furniture that was 'in stock - delivery within 6 weeks'. Now that sounded rather odd so I emailed customer service who said 6 weeks was definitely the waiting time for delivery even if 'in stock'. So, I thought I would try the order process online to check and it offered me delivery three days later!

The first delivery was damaged, they agreed to uplift and replace. The second delivery was also damaged so admitting my anger up front when I contacted them I asked for the replacements to be checked before despatch. This was refused because their policy is to check for satisfactory quality before despatch ONLY AFTER THE CUSTOMER HAS RECEIVED A THIRD DELIVERY OF DAMAGED GOODS. Unbelievable !!! The third set did not arrive on the day stated but on the day after the courier arrived saying 'Third time lucky then?'We inspected the boxes before signing but when I tried to build up the furniture there were parts I thought were missing but it turned out they were already partially fitted already and close inspection showed that the furniture had already been partially assembled by someone else. No, B&Q hadn't checked before despatch - the goods had obviously been returned as faulty by someone else because the holes for some screws were misaligned and there was no way it could be assembled or the drawers put in place due to the distortion to the frame.

So it is all going back and I will look elsewhere.

I ordered some tiles from B&Q West Thurrock, the staff were slightly unclear between themselves on the order process which should have warned me off. I ordered the tiles with a delivery window of between 2 & 4 weeks later. In week 3 I called the store and was given a delivery date which was 1 day short of 4 weeks. I then tried to call the day after the delivery date for confirmation but could not get through. When I went to the store it took them 15 minutes that no delivery had been made and tha ...

Had a kitchen installed by B&Q in March 2009. I spent a fortune on the installation because they assured me of quality and minimum inconvenience. It was a disgrace.

The 5 days turned into 4 weeks. Left without water for a week. The house was left a mess each night with rubbish all over my garden. The tiling looks like it was done by a toddler. The electrical and gas work failed a NAPIT inspection (considered dangerous). The fitters were rude and agressive. They screwed through a pipe causin ...

Ordered a B & Q kitchen in May 2009. After we paid the £50.00 design fee, we were asked to pay the full price and did not realise there was a 12 week lead time so they had all our money for 3 months. When they finally turned up, they were there for two or three days, then went away to do another job. Some of the units were missing yet they had 3 months to check the order. Once fitters were there, they worked but when they went away, we didn't know when they were coming back. Kitchen t ...

All the people who have complained about B&Q...why don't you all also put your complain forward to Watch Dog which might make an effect. I have already done so. Takes 5 mins to do this.

Just had a kitchen installed 3.8.09. The timescale for completion was 7 days. It took them just over 6 weeks to fully complete with poor workmanship, appalling communication and not accepting any liability and putting some of the blame on the fitters. I would never ever advise anybody to go with B&Q after the bad experience we have had with them. Were pre-warned about this by other customers but we chose to ignore them thinking such a big company as B&Q can't be at fault. Now regret our dec ...

We brought a kitchen from B & Q and they fitted it in May. It is still not right and it is now almost October. This has been an absolute nightmare. Dont ever purchase a kitchen from them and most importantly never get them to fit anything. Tuckers were the company fitting for us and they subcontract out to local fitters who are useless, they have a dont care attitude. They will do it in their own time and dont worry that you have to take time off work every time they come to redo something ...

B&Q staff are the worst on the High Street. We bought a shower enclosure that has rotted and leaked within 2 months, we complained and eventually they sent out a couple of staff to review. They were barely able to write but managed to lie in a 'report' (B&Q claimed it was a report but in fact it was a one line email with typos and no punctuation) they sent stating that we were in the wrong. We are about to now go through the small claims court and report them to Trading Standards - the man I sp ...

Took advantage of B&Q 1/2 price fiiting for bathroom in Nov. Fitted at right time but the attendance of the fitting staff left lots to be desired. Needed a change in contract as less work needed to be done, B&Q agreed a price change but then unilaterally did not honour it.

8 months later toilet is non-operation due to poor quality manufacture

A best a dishonest company where contract are concerned

Most Sundays my wife and I like to visit B&Q. Today we had to visit to get some timber to finish a job outstanding for a while. What a pleasant surprise when a member of staff from the timber department asked if he could be of any assistance. Even though the store was packed he was really helpful and gave us all the time we needed. We came out of B&Q with a smile. Will we be back??? What do you think.

I didnt even want to give B&Q one star. Had a bathroom fitted last year and am still waiting for someone to come and fix the shoddy job that was done the first time. The after care team are appalling, they barely answer the phone and often just fail to return your calls.

Did an order online for a reserve and pick up, even rang them to make sure the stock was in and they said yes. When got there, not only was item not put to one side for us, they didn't even have it in stock. And trying to get a member of staff to help no chance, stood waiting about for one member of staff to finish on the phone what sounded like a personal call. She still didn't put phone down, got someone to sort it about 10 mins later. As we were leaving B&Q she was still on the phone, some of ...

I bought everything I needed for my shower room from B&Q, including some tiles that featured in their bathroom display. After installing them I found out that they couldn't be used in a humid environment and they started peeling away from the wall. B&Q said that it states on the box that they can't be used in a shower - then why on earth was this used in an in-store display?????

I had to place a further order for extra units for my B&Q kitchen (overall cost over £4K), ordering process was easy on the internet - even gave me a delivery date.

However after waiting in all day on Friday and two phone calls to B&Q no delivery, phoned next day and they stated couriers don't work on Saturdays - they eventually turned up on Monday.

B&Q customer service is rubbish - I believe they give you any old rubbish to get you off the phone.

Metal gate fittings badly rusting and instructions illegible as stored outside. Returned to Hedge End be told it was out of stock and I would be phoned three days later as stock was imminent. No call. Phoned endlessly all day Saturday without response to the phone. Phone Head Office who emailed them twice without response. Think B&Q deserves to fail customer service is non existent and the goods were not fit for purpose. Cheaper to pay more locally an not get the expense of petrol, phone calls ...

B & Q dont care about after sales service and if your goods are damaged it is very difficult to get replacement or refund. It took many visits to the store, telephone calls and letters to get a £50.00 refund. The staff dont return your calls and they have a dont care attitude. I only ever buy anything at B & Q if I cant get it anywhere or else or it is cheaper. There are never any staff to around to help you.

B&Q should be closed down. This is the most unhelpful store I have ever been to. Their attitudes are unbelievable. Their products are rubbish and they have no customer service orientation
