“B & Q Kitchen - avoid”

Bought a Cooke and Lewis Kitchen and hugely disappointed with B and Q. The quality seem okay, it was £10k including appliances, but has been a nightmare from the start. In summary, wrong colour doors, screws not fitting, wrong parts etc, ordering glass shelves and getting wooden (after up lighters have been fitted) and then being told they don't supply theses any more. “What a load of bags”

Another year of DIY, another £500 plus spent at B&Q on Mucklow Hill, Halesowen. Went to get a few minor things going towards the end of the job cost nearly £40, going through the self service checkout and grabbed a carrier bag hanging on the side of a till, when a female staff member jumped in and quite sternly told me you need to pat 5p for that bag. “Kitchen Work tops”

I bought a cook and Lewis kitchen from them this year. We told the sales man we wanted easy to clean and maintain work tops, he showed us a nice one said if it is damaged at all it is easy to repair, you just use the filler compound and sand and polish. It was the expensive new earth stone which did look nice in the shop. “Click and Collect is a waste of time”

Ordered some hooks, which are great, to click and collect. Available next day after 12, so go into store to collect. After waiting 25 minutes told they can't find the order and to hang on. 15 minutes later told the order hasn't arrived and to come back tomorrow. Then went to look for hooks in store, after being told the wrong place twice finally found them, and paid again leaving the store 1 hour 12 minutes after I arrived.... “B and Q online fireplace order £400 more than advertised!”

I found the fireplace I had been looking for with B and Q online at £600. I ordered it but was unable to get a delivery date even though I had paid for it and they were advertising delivery within 3 weeks. I eventually called them and they said they were out of stock. I decided to cancel the order as I had no idea how long it might be. To their credit they returned my money within 5 days as promised. “Great improvement”

B and Q used to be very expensive and surly. In the past three months have been modernising an old house. Although anti B and Q originally have found extraordinary bargains and a friendly and courteous staff. I have now recommended the store. Today I was impressed that I was given a full credit refund for an unused tool I had bought six weeks previously and without a receipt. “Oh my. This is what hell feels like.”

Big project. 4 weeks I was told to complete. Over £20000 being spent. We are now on week 5. En suite shower is now ready after after 4 weeks. Kitchen has cupboards and a sink and dishwasher but nothing else is working and the bathroom is empty. A living hell. Fault after fault with goods, delays in reordering, rudeness when trying to get help. I have never known anything like it in all my life. At my wits end and just wish this nightmare would end. “Appalling Service & Attitude to Customers”

Ordered 5 doors online on a Wednesday with the promise of delivery within 2 days if ordered before 3pm. Didn't happen. Rang to arrange delivery the next Monday - yes, they'll be there between 7am and 6pm. Didn't happen. Rearranged my carpenter. Rang again (each time taking about 15 minutes to get through) Apologetic & (sym)pathetic staff rearranged delivery for Wednesday. Hurrah, arrived late afternoon. (2 days off work). Ordered a circular saw on click and collect , would be available Wed 12pm. Went at 3pm, item not available it hadn't been put ready yet, they couldn't give me a time. I went back 4 days later to the Coventry store on the Saturday, still no item that I had paid £99 for. The reason I did click and collect was because my son had sent the link of a particular tool he wanted, had I just gone to the shop I may not have bought the correct one. Bought a triton shower in the week and had plumber fitting it on the weekend. One of the internal parts leaked, not a part the plumber was connecting. Took the shower back to pontprennau b&q I was told by the duty manager that it was the policy to call out triton to faulty showers. I pointed out it was unfit for purpose but all he would say was "not their policy to change showers". Recently had a new bathroom supplied and fitted by B & Q. Toby at the Ipswich branch, helped us select what we wanted and recommended things if he thought the item wasn't quite right for us. Have just had a delivery of two Cooke and Lewis carcass units, one a drawer unit and drawer boxes and the top drawer wouldn't fit. Phoned B&Q and was told it was the correct size and I should have the joiner go in to the local branch at Kilmarnock and have a look at the one they had on display to check he had the correct set up. “Extremely poor service ! ”

Took 3 weeks to deliver the complete kitchen. Many of the units were the wrong sizes and had to be returned. A kitchen that was supposed to be fitted in 3 days actually took 3 weeks due to the INCOMPETENCE of B&Q. £100 offered for the inconvenience ! . Apparently when you complain to customer service there is no one higher in the whole of the B&Q managing hierarchy that you can speak to. Absolute RUBBISH company for kitchens.
